After the initial shock, I was completely engrossed. It was refreshing to see things from a lovesick boy than a silly, lovesick girl.
If you think you've seen it all, just wait. I think this will take you by surprise, too.(less)

This book creeped me the eff out. Full on paranoia and random goose flesh at the thought of parts of this book.
Almost took it too far, with this one. Almost.(less)

One review I glanced at compared the book to The Hunger Games. In a way, I suppose that's true, but it's so much better than that! (And I love The Hunger Games)
Whether you're a King fan or not; a Constant Reader or new to his works, I recommend this!(less)

This was so far apart from the Odd I know and love. Much too metaphorical and mystical.
Also, I'm fairly well versed in vulgarity, but honestly, I don't want to have to conjure the word from a philosophical description. Just write it down and be done... there's less typing involved and less thinking for everyone.
By far my least favorite Odd novel, but still worth the read. In fact, you may even understand it, despite never reading the series.(less)

While most of the story flows well, there are minimal breaks in which the story changes from one character POV to another. That can be confusing. One paragraph you're reading the omnisicent POV of one character; the next, you're reading from the omniscient view of another.
Then there is the ending. Well... I'll let you figure out whether the ending was worth the trouble or not. (less)

Was this a literary epiphany for me? No. Am I going to start watching the TV series from season 1? Maybe, but not likely.
If you like a birds eye view of how the "other half" live, then you should check this series out. I know I'm in it for the long haul.

What I liked most? The creepy novella at the end. Loved it, actually. My phone rang while I was reading it tonight and I actually jumped a little! It's been awhile since a book could do that to me, so... very pleased.(less)

I don't think the whole story was told, however. There are things that remain unknown, even after the climax, plus an open-ended epilouge... maybe he wrote a sequel or something? There's not enough information missing to warrant a must-write sequel; just enough of a tease to wish there was one.
Wow... I just sounded about as cryptic as this book! Don't worry, though. Once you get it, you GET it!(less)

While that factor didn't bias my thoughts on the book, it did add insight as to the difference between his more recent novels and the writing of this one.
I think I had most of the intricate web figured out by the climax, but there was one instance... well, I'll let you figure that out.
Good overall read. Will probably read it again! (less)
