The Club outside Washington D.C. is a long-standing and extremely private organization. Its members share a certain notoriety that comes from being Fortune 500 CEOs, congressmen, and other famous movers and shakers. Its members also share the need to engage in sexual ménage activities with their female lovers/wives. Therein the extreme secrecy attached to The Club. Members sign confidentiality agreements and The Club has a ‘punitive committee’ composed of very powerful individuals who can and will ruin anyone betraying their secrets financially, socially, and politically if needed. However, The Club is more than just a sex club; it’s also a social setting for like-minded men. Women only gain admission as ‘guests’ of members. Our heroine, Jaci Wright, has recently been hired to do some decorating renovations to the interior of The Club.
Cameron and Chase Falladay are identical twins in charge of security for The Club. The story of why these two sometimes need to share a woman is slowly revealed throughout the novel. They are also members of The Club and have been waiting for Jaci for seven years. Waiting for her to acknowledge her own needs and accept what they need from her. Now that her new job has put her within reach, Cam is done with waiting. He knew she was ‘the one’ for him from the time he was 18 and she was 13. He left for the military at 18 and returned home wounded in both body and spirit. He is tormented by memories, anger, and dark lusts…but more than anything, he’s tormented by the thought of losing Jaci.
Jaci has her own problems and issues. She’s managed to make some pretty powerful enemies and is torn by her love for, and need to protect, Cam. She doesn’t understand why he needs to share her with his brother. This ‘unnatural desire’ is what scared her away seven years ago. But now, THIS time, she feels smarter and stronger…surely she can make Cam, and only Cam, her own. Her efforts to tame Cam (and sometimes Chase) and her struggles to be independent and solve her own problems without relying on Cam drive him nuts!
These two (okay three) certainly have a lot of issues to iron out. The intense love scenes and powerfully erotic power struggles are part and parcel of the story. I have been a fan of Ms Leigh’s books since I read my first e-book by her. This is yet another of her stories that will have a spot on my keeper shelf. ...more

My latest read by her is "Spitfire"; the story of a blue-collar tomboy who falls for a geek. Even though the plot wasn't anything new, and I figured out the 'bad guys' early on...I still had a good time reading about this couple.
Shana is the pint sized daughter of a widowed cop. She's spent her life 'proving' to her Dad and everybody else, that size doesn't necessarily matter. Since she's too short to be a cop, she decides to go into private security and eventually open up her own detective agency. When she saves a 'suit' from an apparent mugging on the way to a job interview, she has no idea that that one act will change her life--and her goals--forever.
Now there were times I wanted to ream Shana a new one! She really put her man Royce through the hoops. I got awfully irritated with that HUGE chip on her shoulder, but when she finally got it I felt all melty...and isn't that the sign of a good read? The hero is a hot geek (and brains ARE sexy), the sex is smoking, and the heroine is a strong female. How can you pass this up?...more

She tells very good, very sexy stories without sacrificing emotional growth and relationship building.
Talia is an empath who must shield herself from others emotions. Most of the time it works, with two exceptions. She can't block especially strong senders, and she can't block the strong emotions of those she cares about. So when her good friend and co-worker is kidnapped by a man who exudes evil, Talia is determined to do everything she can to help catch this devil.
Finn is a cop who is desperately trying to find a lead, any lead, on the wacko who has kidnapped a series of women. Although none of them have turned up dead, that still leaves the ominious question of what he IS doing with them! When he learns of Talia's empath abilities, he knows that it doesn't matter how attracted he is to her, he'll have to use any help he can get...especially once the Mayor's daughter joins the ranks of the missing.
Not one of her strongest stories, but still had a lot of good points. Hot guy afraid to 'open up', shy girl who needs to 'close down'. He's so strongly attracted to her, he makes bonehead relationship mistakes. She doesn't just take it, she makes him pay!! Just a fun read....more

"Surprise" is the prequel to "Take Your Medicine" and Pamela P was nice enough to lend it to me so I could get the back story on Sam and Connor.
Samara is a quiet editor who spends most of her time alone. The craziest thing she's ever done was when she recently flew to Jamaica to get a break from the miserable New England winter and had a flaming one-nighter with a sexy man. But it doesn't take long for her to realize that she brought a little something extra back with her from Jamaica. When her house is broken into and she's almost the victim of a hit-and-run, Sam knows Connor the one-nighter is her best shot at protection.
Connor can't seem to forget about the gorgeous blonde, but his job as a DEA agent just doesn't lend itself to a relationship. While recuperating from a bullet would, he learns Samara has been trying to reach him and decides he might as well visit her in person. The first night he gets there, bad things start to happen around Samara and Connor's afraid he knows why.
A very entertaining story about falling in love on the run. Samara's surprise is a doozy, but Connor does a good job of handling things once his shock wears off. I really did enjoy the give and take between these two as they struggled to live with the fears that come with love. Hart does a great job of allowing us to 'see' the feelings and fears of both and I think that's one of the reasons I enjoy her stories so much. The only drawback for this story is that once you've read it, you'll HAVE to read the follow-on book!...more

I finished "Acheron" by Sherrilyn Kenyon in the wee hours of the morning. Even though I picked up the book on Tuesday, I held off starting in on it until after work on Friday because I KNEW that once I started I wouldn't put it down until I finished it. I was right. Acheron's story was larger than life, just like Acheron himself. My emotions ran the gamut from despair to joy as I read his story. As others have commented, the first part of the book was almost painful to read. Each time I finished a chapter and thought, "Whew, now things will get better for him." But they didn't. I liked the fact that the author warned us in her note at the beginning of the book that the story would be painful. Reading that she herself has firsthand knowledge of childhood abuse made Acheron's past that much more poignant. But by providing a happy ending for him, Kenyon really made this book a paean to all those who have experienced abuse and overcome.
I won't take the time to retell any of his story. Suffice to say that until the age of 21, Acheron's suffering was horrific and endless. My emotions are still reeling, hours after I finished with the happy ending. Will I reread this book? My first instinct is to say no...but I think that time will likely change my mind. Does that make this a great book? I don't know that either. But I DO know that those are just a few things that make this a book I will never forget....more

Lyssa was married to a lying, cheating, self-esteem stealing snake. For the last 10 years he's told her she's fat, ugly, and frigid. Her bust buddy finally talks her into visiting her 'special club'. It's a sex club where consenting, fully vetted adults and couples can fulfill their fantasies. Lyssa attends dressed as a harem dancer and it doesn't take long for her to realize that she's NOT fat, ugly, and definately not frigid.
I always enjoy reading erotica with a story. It only took a couple of pages and I was rooting for Lyssa.

I took Daisiemae's (Shellie's) recommendation and ordered this book after reading "Howl" and "Leashed". I'm so glad I did and now I can't wait to start "Salvation", the next in Jet Mykles' series.
Taken - Diana is a fighter. She was abandoned by her mother as a young girl and she resists anything good due to her feelings of unworthiness caused by her mother's betrayal. When she's captured by the Dark Elves, the sexual pleasure she's 'subjected' to cause her to fight her feelings harder than ever before. What will she do when she's confronted by a man who won't allow her to hide behind violence?
Mastered - Suzana is a prized virgin. Captured and on her way to a slave auction, she is 'rescued' by the Dark Elves. When her beauty and talents bring her to the attention of a twisted ruler, can her new lover Krael save her?
Both of these stories are hot, hot, hot. The overt sexuality of the Dark Elves, created to be 'consorts' of a Godess, are hot enough and when you add in love and 'truemating', you're liable to singe your fingers as you read.
WARNING: If graphic descriptions of love, sex, M/M, M/F, and M/F/M offend you...stay away from this book. As for me, it's on my keeper shelf! ...more

"Rode Hard, Put Up Wet" is a two-romance book. We get an older couple and a younger couple...doesn't get much better than that!! Word of warning tho, this book has oral sex, anal sex, vaginal sex, menage sex, sex with ropes, and sex with toys. YIPPEE!
Gemma finally gives in and contacts Cash, the rodeo circuit rider she's been attracted to for over a year. She needs his help on her ranch and he quickly agrees...with one condition. He wants Gemma in his bed and under his control. The romance between these two is beautiful. Cash uses his rough exterior to hide his insecurities just like Gemma does. I found myself wanting to jump into the book and help them learn to open up to each other. Their sex is sizzling and the sacrifices each is willing to make for the other (sometimes needlessly) are touching. Neither is perfect, but it takes some time for both of them to realize that neither of the other is looking for perfection...just love.
Cash's daughter Macie is looking to have a relationship with the Dad his job, and her mother, never really allowed her to know. Her heart is wary but she's determined to try. When a gorgeous cowboy calls her his 'muse', she thinks it's just a line. But she quickly learns that this is one cowboy who knows just which of her buttons to push...and man is he good at it!! And Cash McKay is sure the art gods must be smiling on him when he spots the woman he's been seeing in his dreams, literally. When he finds out she'll be spending time at the ranch where he works with Gemma, he knows it's only a matter of days before he'll have her...in his paintings and in his bed. But Cash will have to learn that while some things are meant to be, some things are also meant to be just between the two of them.
Two great romances, two sizzling pairs of lovers, and all the emotional ups and downs of real life relationships. I just loved this book and couldn't put it down. ...more

Salvation - Irin is a human wonder among the Dark Elves. She was rescued as an infant and has been sheltered and hidden; her sexuality dampened by spells to shield her from the Dark Elves sexual magnetism. When the shield is lifted, she turns out to be much more than expected or hoped for...a strong mage. Unfortunately, that brings her to the attention of the Dark Elves mentally unstable king. Can her two loves protect both her and themselves? Or will one of them pay an awful price?
Dissent - Their wicked king has been defeated, but the battle cost the Dark Elves their link with their Goddess. A way of life that had lasted for thousands of years is changing, bringing unrest and strife. Now bands of rogues roam the forest, capturing humans and literally screwing them to death! Marisol and her brother are rescued by Dark Elves loyal to the new king, but the mental anguish they suffered while under the control of the rogues may have left wounds too deep to heal. How I could have had two children with no drugs is beyond me, but that's the weirdness of childbirth I guess:) So, why all this sharing? Um, so I can admit that I didn't really like "Throwback" by Annie Windsor. There was a little too much of the pain thing going on for me. I know she liked it (even in the scenes where she had tears running down her face and WTF is up with that) and everyone has different tastes, but this one just wasn't my cup of tea. I found myself cringing at times and that's never a good sign...Ah well, live and learn.

Very, very hard to review this book. I gobbled up Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series and am anxiously awaiting book four to be released in April 2009Very, very hard to review this book. I gobbled up Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series and am anxiously awaiting book four to be released in April 2009. So I jumped on "Midnight's Daughter" which is an offshoot of that series. Technically, this is a standalone novel. But IMHO, you really should read about Cassie and that world before taking on Dorina. It provides a deeper insight into her world and events that have shaped the actions and intentions of some characters in her book.
Dorina is a dhampir, half human, half vamp, and has fits of uncontrollable rages like all dhampir. She's unusual in that she has managed to stay alive for over 500 years by channeling her rages into killing non-human creatures. When Daddy dearest shows up, Dorina knows it's not good news. When Daddy dearest asks her to go after Uncle Drac (yes, that Dracula!), she's sure he's only sending her on this suicide mission to finally be rid of her once and for all. Especially seeing the vamp he intends to be her partner...Louis-Cesare. It doesn't take long for both Dorina and Louis-Cesare to butt heads and become the targets of just about every other supernatural faction out there.
Very complex. Very intense. Very dark. I sucked this down like a vamp with O negative. This is really a dark urban fantasy with heavy emotional and relationship threads. Just about every character in this book could use the services of a good shrink (I'm thinking Lynda Hilburn's Vampire Shrink) and you can forget about trying to predict what will happen next! I loved it. I want another Dorina book soon so I can see where she and maybe Louis too are headed....more
