Problem is, it it seems like a lot of the enneagram experts write like experts... and for my mommy brain at the end of the day, it was too much. I have the other books. I'll use the other books. But this is the book I would recommend as a starting spot for anyone interested in the Enneagram. It is a good, fun overview. (less)

One of the main characters is an abusive pastor/parent and there is no resolution or justice for him in the hundreds of pages. Looking at the next two books in the trilogy, I think she plans on using his scary out of control character to move her story along. It is horrid. (less)

She has since plowed through three more in the series. It's another good story introducing Ancient Greece culture and mythology. I admit it, I was skeptical, but it's a good read.(less)

And what a lovely, thoughtful book to receive during a season when we are all thinking about things we want to change or get better at. This is lovely approach to discipleship - an easy read, but not fluff. So thankful for this gift. (less)

It is about an orphan named Trad who is being "taken care of" by his cruel grandfather. He has pretended to be a half-wit his whole life. One day, while his grandfather was gone he decided to try and hunt a rabbit, with a bow and arrow, because he was tired of his molded cheese and stale bread he was given. He almost put an arrow through a man lying in the grass because of his white hair. He tried to help him, but the man had an awful wound and Trad set out to find an actual rabbit. He shot one, and ran back to the house. But when Grandfather returned he had visitors and so he had to pretend to be a half-wit in front of the band of thieves. The next morning Grandfather left. Forever. Trad fled from the house and watched the thieves ransack the house. He decided to run away from his grandfather with the man and so begins the Great and Terrible Quest.(less)

The two main characters are a girl named Halima and a boy named Atiyah betrothed to marriage from birth. They are cousins.
What happens is Atiyah gets basically banished from their tribe to learn in city called Fez. After that Halima goes out traveling and gets caught in a sandstorm only to be rescued by a enemy tribe. The Sheik of the tribe asks her to marry her and she doesn't answer. Then Atiyah goes out of the city to get her cause he hears she is dead... but he says she isn't so him and a friend go find her. Then they find her in the tribe and the Sheik says that she as agreed to marry him and the ngives her up to him after Halima pleads to the Sheik of the other tribe. I kinda liked this book... I don't think there was enough action and violence.(less)

I think one of the reasons I like this book so much is the main character sometimes reminds me of me emotionally. This is a nice book that shows how dangerous the medieval world was when traveling, especially for people traveling all the time like minstrels! (less)

The setting is the same except their slave is a secret curior that is carrying a message about witch of the boys fathers is to be murdered! This story is a very good read-at-night or read-when-bored book. There are some parts that you will not understand unless you read the first book!! That is another reason to read the first one (Detectives in Togas) The setting for both the books is in ancient Rome in a schoolhouse with four boys who find out an important mystery for the government of Rome. Oh... and by Hades do not forget to look out for when more of this authors books come around!!!

Very hard to read out loud at first. I think if I'd been reading to myself it would have been less laborious. We were all sad when this book ended. I can't think of another historical novel that has taken place during the Roman occupation of Britain.. and it made me want to read and learn more about it. Looking forward to reading the other two books in the trilogy.(less)

This was a lovely listen - I found myself laughing out loud, at almost being in tears, and provoked to some thoughtful consideration - all on the elliptical!
I think I'd really like to read it and mark it up someday.... (less)

There is a side story of romance that is unnecessary (innocent, but just seems extra). And the back of the book talks about ghosts in such a way that Caleb asked me to read it to make sure it wasn't going to be too scary. The ghosts are more like characters that come from that past to talk to the main character in her 1950's setting. (less)
