Darius returns to his hometown to help his brother celebrate his 21st birthday, but his return stirs up trouble as most of the town believe him to be a murderer. Ash is the town sheriff who is trying to keep the peace, but as he butts heads with half the town and Darius, he has to solve a five year old murder to prove Darius’s innocence.
This is a really good shifter story that shows shifters in a more animalistic light. Darius and Ash are two men who five years ago were best friends, but when Darius disappeared without a word, Ash began to doubt his friend’s innocence. now Darius is back and Ash has to prove his innocence before the town turns into an ugly mob. These two characters strike sparks off each other. The attraction is strong and the sex between them is hot!
Darius tries his best to keep Ash at a distance because he has a secret to hide. But not the one that Ash thinks. And when Ash discovers his secret, he is torn between fascination and terror. I have got to say that this version of shifter sounds painful and horrible and who don’t recognize anyone in their shifted form. I like the way it is portrayed and the fact that the brothers are not happy to be shifters. The progression of the story is good and moves smoothly and the mystery of the murder is easy to solve when Ash has all the clues and the answers came from an unexpected source.
With this one I will recommend to those who want a more down to earth shifter story, who love a bit of mystery, who love hot sex and a happy ending.(less)

First published at MM Good Book Reviews
Quinn suffered for years at the hands of his father for being different, but now hiding out with his sister in America he has some semblance of peace. That is, until he spots a shifter who makes him feel things he shouldn’t. Manning wants revenge on the ones who killed his mother, but when he smells his mate all he can think about is finding and claiming him. When the two meet weeks later, Quinn has a secret that he can’t tell Manning and Manning thinks he knows what is for the best. Can the two sort out their problems so that they can save their races?
This is a shifter/vampire story that puts a different spin on the races and makes for an interesting storyline with a twist. Manning is a Ba’Kal (Shifter), in fact he is the ruler of them. he has many responsibilities and one of them is to mate and produce an heir, but he has other problems like finding his mother’s killers and the Vam’kir (vampires) who are targeting shifters. Manning puts everything on a backburner when he meets his mate, Quinn. Quinn though just wants to run, he knows he is different from his kinsmen Vam’kir and he can’t let Manning know that he is Vam’kir, as they are enemies, but he knows he isn’t safe whichever way he turns.
There is quite a bit to this storyline, as we have Quinn who is both Ba’Kal and Vam’kir. He has been punished severely by his father for years, his sister rescues him but even she doesn’t know the full truth. And now he has a mate and when Quinn finally learns the full truth of what he is, he has a whole load of new problems to face. Manning and Quinn do make a great couple, even with the problems they face, and Manning has a world of patience as he waits for Quinn to become comfortable with him.
I wish I could go into more detail about the ongoing struggle that Quinn and Manning are facing, but it is kinda complex with its explanations, and it would also give away the entire storyline. All I will tell you is that Manning and Quinn are great together and although they have problems with trust, they do come through it by the end. This storyline is really good and the story is really well written. we get to know the characters really well and although they do have their faults, which make you want to slap them at least once, they do crawl into your hearts.
So, if you love shifters and vampires, hot sex, gentle love, earned trust, complex plans from the goddess, a hard past, a happy ending and a superb twist then this is the story for you.(less)
This story is part of a series and I recommend it be read in order. Poppy has lived a life of hell, even knowing he could be hurt Poppy tries to save his friend Marcus and Marcus’s friends from a deadly trap, never knowing that one of the men he tries to save will change his life forever. Dean is set to find his friend Marcus and is astounded when a badly abused little guy saves them from ambush, Poppy clings to him and Dean respond’s and they are both shocked at the outcome, but they still have to save Marcus and they discover far more than they originally thought.
Finally after a two year wait we get a sequel to The Cat’s Meow, yes I know it was a long time but this was well worth the wait, so for those of you who haven’t got a mind like mine (which is like a steel trap) you might want to re-read The Cat’s Meow just to remind yourself who the players are. Dean was an assassin for a Government branch just called The Agency, but when Gage mates with the King of the cat shifters they all decide to give up that life to protect Noah. When they go to retrieve Marcus they discover it’s a trap when they are approached by Poppy, Dean becomes Poppy’s protector and then much more. Poppy has been a slave for as long as he can remember, he will do anything to help his friend Marcus and when he is taken back to the pride he wants Dean to be his new master and they both get more than they bargained for.
This is a wonderful little novel that has a great storyline which will interest you, Poppy is a very submissive character that has been badly abused, he is also a character that has a great twist to his story. Dean is a very strong character but not an aggressive dominate, he will reluctantly take on the role that Poppy needs though. There’s a great planned out storyline unfolding, with what looks like Government secrets about to spill out and the characters are left wondering just who they can trust.
I was really happy with how this story played out with both Poppy and Dean making a great impression, Poppy with his wide eyed innocence and Dean with his reluctant compassionate dominance, both characters have to find their feet in their relationship but rather than continue to enforce domination Dean tries to ease Poppy out of his slave mind-set. The sex between them is very hot and I liked how there wasn’t sex on every page, I really enjoyed how involved both Noah and Gage were in this story but it was very clear they were just supporting characters and blended well into the background when needed.
I am recommending this to those who love slightly different shifters, rescues, secrets, dark dealings and connecting the dots, compassionate men, hot soldiers, hot sex and a very good ending that left me hoping that it won’t be another two years for the next book ;-) P.S. Note to editor, not impressed that Braden’s name changed to Brandon on pages 108 and 109. (less)
Kris is about to get the shock of his life. A simple routine blood test changes his life forever, when he is matched as a mate to a werewolf. Now he has choices to make that don’t just include what he should do after college. Rafe has waited two hundred years for his mate and although he is desperate to meet his mate, he can wait another couple of weeks, while his mate gets used to the idea.
I found this to be quite a refreshing story. The whole idea of a world where every human is aware of all paranormal and mythical creatures, and together have come up with a registry where humans and paranormals can be matched is good. But, what is even better is that not all the people who are matched wanted to be matched. Kris is one of those people. He has plans for the future and if he accepts the mating, then he will have to give up his dreams. Rafe just wants a chance to meet his mate and show him his life won’t be over if he accepts the mating, but things happen during Kris’s visit that make Rafe think that Kris would be safer on his own.
A very good story that interested me from the start. When Kris and Rafe meet there is a strong sexual attraction which scares Kris. He is terrified that he will become a slave to his sexual needs and resents the power that Rafe could have over him. Rafe has a strong need to protect Kris and to love him, but it’s hard to fight someone’s fears. Kris is really resentful of being mated, of having his choices ripped away from him and is terrified of what he has heard of the mating instinct and it takes him a while to come around. Rafe is such a sweetheart that you feel sorry for him at the way that Kris keeps reacting.
I will recommend this to those who love the paranormal, shifters, hot sex, confused men, an unexpected attack, some hot sex and a happy ever after. (less)
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Eaton has had a crush on Marty for a long time, when the leader of the hawks is badly injured Eaton will do anything to have him healed, even make a deal with a sorcerer. Marty is horrified when Eaton is taken because of him, the eagle shifter is his mate and he will do anything to get him back. Marty and Eaton’s friends are willing to go to war to get Eaton back, but with a sorcerer casting his spell will Eaton want to come back?
I love a good light-hearted story of friends pulling together to rescue one of their own and that’s what Amber Kell has created with her wonderful Banded Brothers series, a group of friends as close as brothers sticking together through thick and thin and finding love along the way. This is Eaton’s story, the quite, studious eagle shifter who has the hots for bad boy biker Marty. With Marty so injured that he might lose his hawk, Eaton puts his trust in the sorcerer Gallen and discovers Gallen has his own plans. Marty has come to the point in his life when he wants to settle down and finally claim Eaton, being injured and learning he might lose his hawk is a hard blow, but Eaton persuades him to trust Gallen. When Marty discovers the trust is misplaced it is too late and there is nothing he can do, turning to Eaton’s friends they mount a rescue, but is it too late?
This is a really great little story that gives us that spark of excitement that we have come to expect from Banded Brothers, the fierce loyalty, the guns, the explosions and the idiots who think they can take on the friends. The writing is great, showing us not just the strong bonds that hold these friends together but the devotion that each friend finds in their mates. Does that confuse you? Me complementing the entire group? Well, Amber Kell doesn’t forget the exceptional bonds just because a character already has their story, and they are still there even if it is more in the background.
Eaton and Marty are sweet together and both will do anything for the other, they are very easy going with their relationship with no recriminations from Eaton when he discovers Marty knew they were mates. Marty’s helplessness with the situation screams at you, but Eaton’s cunning is impressive. Although you sneer at Gallen’s behaviour, by the end of the story you find a little pity for him. The new people you meet makes you wonder what will be coming after Harris’s story, and I really can’t help hoping for a story for Aden, he is soooo perfect for a clash with an Alpha male.
I will recommend this to those that love shifters, paranormals, magic, hot sex, great characters, a great storyline that leaves threads for the next book and a very happy ending.(less)
Liam escaped from the hands of an abusive Alpha with the help of his only friend Cale. Now, he lives in the wilds of Canada as a wolf, keeping to himself. But, one day someone finds him, wanting him to return to the place where his nightmares reside. Griffon has hunted for Liam for years and finally he has tracked him down. But, the hardest part is yet to come; to convince his mate to return to civilization and to face his fears. An emergency forces them both to confront the past and Liam learns just where his real strength is.
This book is Kam Miller’s first published work and for a first timer, she’s done a great job. Liam is an Omega. When his adoptive parents were killed in an explosion, he was taken by his biological grandparents and kept as a prisoner. Everyone believing he died in the explosion. Now, ten years after his escape from his cruel grandparents, he is wary of ever trusting anyone again, but he feels safe with the wolf who finds him. Griffon is a strong but caring Alpha and tried to get to Liam before he disappeared. Now, after ten years of hunting he has finally found the wolf who is his mate, but getting Liam’s trust is hard. Especially when they are forced to return to pack lands by the kidnapping of one of their own, Cale.
Liam is a very gentle wolf and so very, very sweet. The way that he was treated was appalling and I was so glad that the author wrote about his escape. Griffon is a strong but compassionate wolf and he rules his pack like they are family and he has been devoted to finding Liam since he first discovered he was alive. Both Liam and Griffon click when they first meet and it does get very sexually charged between them, but they get to know each other a little bit before jumping each other’s bones.
The storyline is quite good. Liam being an Omega can help calm wolves and unfortunately Liam’s grandfather was completely insane and looked down on Omegas, so Liam was punished just for living. Now a threat connected to his past re-emerges and both Liam and Griffon fear the outcome when a pack-mate is in danger. The council failed him badly in the past and I think Kam Miller should write a story that shakes up all their rules (you’ll understand why when you read this). Now I love hot man on man sex as much as the next person and this has plenty to keep you going, but sometimes it just felt out-of-place.
Hmmm, I will recommend this to those who love shifters, hot sex, a good storyline, some danger, some great characters (and there are a few of them) and a happy ending.
Gage has worked hard to get Voyeur off the ground with his friend Ben, now they are finally opening the exclusive nightclub. Employing the young man who walks in off the street is an impulse, an impulse driven by Gage’s wish to bed him, but what he wants from Chi soon changes when he becomes jealous. Chi hasn’t been in town that long so he jumps at the chance to work at Voyeur, getting involved with Gage is not his brightest idea, especially when his ex refuses to let him go.
This book is great for a quick easy shifter read. Gage likes playing the field, after being in a long term relationship, he still doesn’t feel ready to try permanent again. Opening Voyeur is a dream of his, a place where you can enjoy voyeurism in all its forms, while having a good time with friends. When he employs Chi he has no idea what awaits him with the sexy young man. Chi left his home and family to get away from a controlling relationship, when he meets Gage Chi has the chance to be himself and after a rocky start Gage and Chi begin to dream of more, but Chi’s past won’t let him go and Gage’s life is in danger.
This is quite a good story that has a strong relationship developing between Gage and Chi, but I found that the shifter part was a hard part of the story to swallow. Chi is a great character, he has strong views of what he wants and doesn’t like to play games. Gage thinks he knows what he wants but meeting Chi throws him, discovering the truth about Chi shocks and scares him. Their relationship is very hot and sexual but there is a slight touch of the unknown as they fumble with what they both want and what they can have.
Although I liked this story it didn’t quite feel right for me, there was just something that made it awkward and Chi’s behaviour wasn’t always consistent. The shifter part was cloaked in quite a bit of mystery and although I would love to say that it made it more interesting well it didn’t and the way that Chi resolved the issue wasn’t realistic to the story even if he was defending the man he loved. Gage’s reaction to Chi’s secrets was brilliantly done and I did like how Gage and Chi’s relationship developed and how they were together.
I will recommend this to those who love new beginnings, finding love when least expecting it, hot sex, shifters, a touch of kink, a touch of danger and a very happy ending. (less)
Zev can’t believe that what he feels for his best friend Jonah is more than just friendship, Jonah is human and male and Zev has always been told that he will tie to a shifter female or lose his humanity so Jonah can’t be his true mate… can he? Jonah has loved Zev for years and he has lived with the limited relationship that they have had while he was studying to become a doctor, but Jonah becomes convinced there is something wrong with him and has to look to his mother’s past to discover secrets long buried. Together Zev and Jonah have to challenge generations of belief and prejudice to be together.
This is a great shifter story that gives a new view on shifters and the world they live in. Zev and Jonah are a fantastic couple, they first meet when they are still babies, Zev in wolf form tracks down a smell that he can’t resist and comes across a baby Jonah. From there they meet through the years as wolf and boy before meeting finally as two seven year old boys, they become best friends and when they reach eighteen they admit how they feel for each other. But, Zev has had to get his father and pack to start seeing humans in a different light, rather than as half-souls who are beneath them but still bringing a human home as a mate will be hard, bringing a human male as a mate will be harder.
I loved this story, it was perfect, going from childhood best friends to adult lovers. Zev refusing to take that final step until Jonah could be all his, a perfect sweet romance with a twist of mystery. I loved how we had flashbacks to Zev and Jonah’s past, seeing them together as they grow up and develop a great friendship. It would have been nice to have a clearer sign that we were about to delve into a flashback, but it was still well done. Another thing I loved was that although Zev and Jonah had a clear feeling that they were meant to be together, Zev managed to hold out for years before completing the bond, so yeah instant mate connection but far from an instant mating.
Cardeno C. has written a story that keeps your interest, it has an interesting shifter element and has woven bigotry, prejudice, love, overcoming circumstances, friendships and secrets together to bring us a story that is sweet with a tinge of mystery and danger. Neither Zev or Jonah have it easy though because the longer they are apart the harder it is for them to cope with the separation and as Jonah still hasn’t got a clue about shifters, the stress and strain drive him to nearly cheat… so you have been warned. I personally feel that Zev should have explained things earlier to Jonah, at least then Jonah might have had a clue as to what was happening to him.
I will recommend this to those who love shifters, hot loving, sacrifice, strong and enduring love, mysterious happenings, a touch of danger and a very happy ending. Grabbing a cuppa and snuggling with this book is a great way to spend an evening. (less)
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Tobias and Kyle are having difficulty in their relationship, they are under each others feet and arguing quite often. When Tobias has to go to the regional gathering he takes Kyle with him grudgingly, they both know something is going to happen after Mikey's premonition and plan to be on guard. Things happen rapidly though and with the loss of two alphas and the defeat of the Arkhon to a weaker visiting wolf, Tobias and Kyle figure out that there is a much larger plan and Tobias has to make a choice challange the new Arkhon and defeat him or allow utter chaos as the packs fall apart.
This is a great paranormal shifter story that shows the struggles of a mated pair when everything seems to constantly go wrong. Tobias and Kye are feeling the strain on their relationship after everything that has happened, they are still trying to reinforce their bond when they have to go to the Alpha gathering. The events at the gathering forces Tobias to act, he knows he is up against a formidable enemy but can't share his fears with anyone other than Kyle. As Tobias prepares to act he has to open up to Kyle and start to repair their relationship.
I really liked this story and it was nice to see that even though Tobias and Kyle are mates they still have to work at their relationship. It was really nice to see that even when they were at logger heads they still loved each other, they are just struggling to connect to each other. The whole Alpha gathering and the storyline surrounding it gave more substance to the previous difficulties they have suffered, and, it gave us answers to questions we never knew we had. Tobias really has to step up in this story and with Kyle's help he finally sees the bigger picture to all their packs troubles, it also leaves us with a longing for the next book as you know they will be facing their biggest challenge ever.
Although I did enjoy this story, I found it to be very repetitious, going over the same stuff again and again, giving us the same information as though I had forgotten it from several pages before. The story also dragged for the first half but it really picked up for the second half and that is where all the excitement and action happens, it is also where we get all the information about what has really been going on and the suspicions that form.
I recommend this to those that love shifters, working on a relationship, discovering the truth behind the troubles, fighting for what is right and a great ending that makes you want the next story. (less)
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Richie is frustrated with his manipulative mother when she yet again palms responsibility on him, this time it is to collect his dead sisters belongings from the mental institution, but the dreams he’s been having about her stop when he arrives in Stone Trail. Finding answers to why she committed suicide is what he wants but he finds much more when he discovers a connection to his missing life partner, Albert, and strange goings on in town.
I found this to be an interesting storyline but it felt too short for what it wanted to be. Richie has no choice but to go to Stone Trail to clear out his sister’s things from the institution where she died, he discovers much more than he ever thought he would his first night in town and the second day he discovers where his lover Albert has been for the last four months. Albert is shocked with everything that has happened and together with Richie try to dig into the mystery of Stone Trail, but they have to call in the locals when they are targeted by the very thing that kept Albert quite for so long.
This is a good story but it felt too rushed, it started out really good and was progressing well but then the pace seemed to pick up and everything happened really quickly. The characters were good and we learn a bit about them and we start out with a mystery disappearance and then progress on to a suspect suicide, we also have a ghostly apparition and then the werewolves come in and it was going really well. But the thing is, when we find Albert he bounces back too quickly and then everything piles on top quickly so you don’t get to enjoy the suspense, Albert and Richie get their happy ending in a way and there are some very sweet moments between them, it was touching with the words that Albert remembered.
I will recommend this to those who love paranormal, shifters, werewolves, lost love reunited, an interesting storyline with more to come and a happy ending for two hot men. (less)
Carlo is 21 now and old enough to take part in the mating ceremony, he has always secretly been in love with his best friend Liam but longs to find his heart-mate. Liam has been waiting for Carlo to reach mating age, but there are rumours floating around him that his brother Marcus has spread and Carlo doubts his intentions. As Christmas draws closer and family protest, can these two wolves find love and happiness?
This is an interesting story with a newish twist on shifters in the Moon-Runner pack that I hope we will see more of. Liam has waited for Carlo for two years, now that Carlo is old enough to take part in the mating ceremony Liam plans to make Carlo his. Carlo longs to find his heart-mate but he also loves Liam even though Liam seems to have slept with nearly everyone in the pack, but Carlo soon discovers that not everything is as it seems. Together they discover the truth and then they are given a surprise that could change their lives forever.
Carlo and Liam are a sweet couple, both of them secretly loving the other but both unsure of how the other feels. Liam has a bit of an angst moment when he inadvertently comes out to his parents but Liam gets help and support from them in his quest to make Carlo’s his, but Carlo faces some hostility from his father before he makes his choice. I thought the storyline was very interesting and would love to discover more about the world they live in, and the pack laws and circumstances, finding out more about heart-mates and how people view them would be wonderful, because, like Liam I was confused as to why Cara did what she did.
I liked this story and was glad it wasn’t too angsty even though there were instances where that could have happened, it was also nice to see Carlo working things out and not instantly believing Liam and really Liam should have put a stop to the rumours years before. Together they are a great couple who find more happiness than they ever thought they would, they were also really hot together and fun, as shown in the snowball fight.
I will recommend this to those who love shifters, finding true love, families making up and friends finding what they had lost, as well as a very sweet happy ending. (less)
This book is part of a series and can be read in any order. Riley became King of the Wolf Shifters four years ago, now he is coming to the rescue of the Bat Kingdom when he rescues their prince, Anghel, unable to rescue the King, Queen and heir to the Throne Anghel is now the leader of the Bat Shifters and as Riley discovers his mate as well. Anghel is devastated over the loss of his parents and sister, he never expected to take over the Throne but meeting his mate Riley eases some of his pain. Bringing their two Kingdoms together is going to cause waves throughout the shifter world that will have long reaching effects as Mother Nature begins to put her ultimate plan into play.
This is an extremely erotic story that will give you a great sex fix while giving you an interesting shifter story. Riley has been King for four years so when Anghel unexpectedly becomes King to his own Kingdom he helps him out, but more importantly they are mates. Riley isn’t sure he wants to mate yet though, but it isn’t long before he realises his procrastinating is causing Anghel pain and he accepts that Mother Nature knows what she is doing. Anghel is a Dominate and he quickly realises that his Alpha wolf is a submissive in bed, they have a perfect connection between them. Mother Nature has plans for the Kings and as they mate before her she sets her plan in motion.
This story is set 20 years before Serpent vs Serpent, introducing us to Riley and Anghel and the difficulties they faced as they merged their Kingdoms. Riley and Anghel are great characters, they have a fantastic explosive chemistry between them and they really set the pages alight. We also get treated to some very explicit graphic sexual scenes between Riley, Anghel, Geza (Riley’s twin brother) and Gabi (Anghel’s younger brother) along with some very interesting sexual scenes between Taylor (Horse Crown Prince) and Robert (Tiger Crown Prince).
I recommend this to those who love highly sexual shifters, explicit erotic explosive sex, the beginning of Mother Nature’s plans and a very happy ending. (less)
Garrett’s Alpha is completely insane. the abuse that he has heaped on the pack is getting worse and Garrett has finally managed to escape, barely making it out alive. Haven is asked to investigate the disappearance of his friends’ sister and almost hits his mate as he runs out into the road, and discovers more about what is going on in the Cedarhill Pack. With the help of a neighboring pack and his mate Garrett, the Weir council and Haven set about to bring ruin on the Cedarhill pack Alpha.
This book is, erm, okay, well it’s urm… *sigh* okay, this book is poorly written and poorly edited. *sigh* it gave me a headache trying to keep track of whose POV was what and it would suddenly change with no warning, sometimes just for a few sentences. The storyline was a good one, but very poorly executed. Surprises would suddenly jump out with no warning and with no explanation afterwards or the characters wouldn’t know anything and then later they suddenly did. There is also an abundance of characters who’s POV we flit through, which made it confusing at times and there is no background building for the paranormal world.
I will be honest and say that this book would have worked better in the ‘less is more’ attitude. There was just too much being thrown in for an inexperienced writer. The writing should have been left concentrating on the main characters Haven and Garrett, and with better explanations as to the new paranormal aspects that were being introduced. And, the slower introductions of those paranormal aspects. The writing could be sometimes confusing in the way that the characters spoke to each other. It was difficult to follow at times.
Okay, now that I have said all that, let me tell you this, this author has huge potential because she has all the bare bones there to make a great story. The characters were great and quite loveable, the storyline was interesting and unique with a great many twists and turns and the sex was hot and sexy. Haven and Garrett make a great couple and their friends are interesting and their stories also begin in this book, we also get a good hint of what will happen in the next book (Tyler’s Dreams).
So, I will recommend this to those who love the paranormal, surprises and twists, hot sex, a multitude of sexy men, an interesting storyline and some great characters. I will be keeping an eye on this author’s work as she has some great ideas.(less)
Sam has just inherited a detective agency from his recently deceased uncle, Sam has a five year plan all laid out and there is no room in that plan for supernaturals’. Until a witch walks through his doors and a vampire wants to rent a room, and a fae triad (minus one) needs their third finding and a little werewolf girl is lost. Tossed in over his head he accepts (begrudgingly) the help of Bob the vampire, Teddy the ghost and Mikhail the vampire/siren.
Oh this is a delightful paranormal story of an everyday human *snort* being tossed into the supernatural world with a bang. Sam inherits a building that housed his beloved uncles’ detective agency, he decides to follow in his uncles footsteps and becomes a private investigator, but his first prospective client isn’t happy with his work ethic and he discovers that his uncle had dodgy dealings. When Bob walks through his door asking to rent a room it throws Sam in a tailspin as he fights his attraction to the supernatural, but he has cases to work which drag him further into the supernatural world and his plan of only dealing with humans goes out the window.
I really enjoyed this first story in the End Street Detective Agency and I am looking forward to more. We are introduced to an interesting array of characters and some very interesting cases that we delve into, we see as Sam struggles with his attraction to Bob and as they come together, with Sam still not really understanding the depth of Bob’s feelings. The storyline is cool, the cupid curse was very interestingly carried out and the various paranormal we come across are great, Sirens, Vampires, Werewolves, Gargoyles, Ghosts, Fae, Witches and a cat familiar, they all add that little spark of magic that makes this a great story.
I highly recommend this story to those that love supernatural and paranormal stories, hot vampires, a confused human in denial, great characters, a great case solved; hot sex and an ending that is left wide open and has you biting your lip against the urge to scream in frustration. (less)
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Tristan is struggling with his predator over his decision not to claim Ushna, the dreams that are plaguing him aren’t helping either and he has enough on his plate with his rapidly expanding tribe. As more factions come out of the woodwork, his ex-Twin Flames mate causing problems and the impending birth of his children, Tristan has to remember his dreams for him to find peace.
This is another exciting instalment of Sumeria’s Sons where more danger emerges, secrets are revealed and hopes are about to come true. Tristan and Ushna have a rapidly expanding tribe, their two childhood friends Stan and Jory are coming to the ranch and Tristan discovers his ex-Twin Flames children are being neglected. Ushna and Tristan have to pull together when the truth about Tristan’s dreams come out and Randy has a secret that shocks Tristan, more dangers come to light and Tristan has to face going back to Bahbelle to settle things with the council.
I found this to be an excellent addition to the series and it has answered some questions, but boy does it leave you with even more questions. Tristan and Ushna are a great couple and with us finally discovering, to a certain extent, the reasons behind Tristan’s dreams, it helps us understand the way the storyline has been crafted, although it also leaves us with more questions as well. When Stan and Jory arrive we discover that the plotting of other factions is more deeply woven than anyone realised, and as the story progresses hidden factions come to light which shocks the wolves. This is a wonderfully written story and each books flows into the next and although we do get a brief recount of sections of the previous book, I would recommend each book being read in order so this epic fantasy can be enjoyed in full without confusion.
I recommend this book to those that love fantasy, in-depth storylines, great characters, some sweet loving, twists, secrets, betrayal, danger and an ending that leaves you grinning. (less)
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Domin is now semel-aten and living in Sobek, Egypt, he is trying to change the werepanther world for the better but he finds himself struggling to cope with the pressure and it doesn’t help that his mate, Yuri, is off on a peace keeping mission between two tribes. Domin also has dissent in his ranks, people determined to take him down and conspirators who want him dead, Domin learns that he needs those that he trusts most around him and that he can be the leader that is needed even when he sometimes doubts himself.
This book brings us the story of Domin and Yuri as they settle into their new life in Sobek, Domin is struggling to bring about the changes he wants and is being overwhelmed by his new responsibilities, even with the support of Crane, Mikhail, Taj and Yuri he is failing to make the impact he wanted. Domin soon learns that he has to trust those closest to him to do their jobs, he has to learn to treat his mate as a mate and he has to learn to have faith in himself. Yuri and Crane both face challenges while Mikhail and Taj have to assert their authority over the tribe.
This story is all from Domin’s POV so we get a really great feeling for everything that he experiences, from his doubts, his fears and his hopes to the danger he finds himself and those he cares about in, all the way until he becomes the man he wants to be without even realising it. Domin and Yuri make a great couple although Yuri doesn’t know the true depth of Domin’s feelings, and Koren *grrr* makes an appearance sniffing around Domin again *grrr*, there are many different dangers that Domin and his friends face and one of those dangers brings Jin to the rescue, and where Jin goes his mate finally follows (when Logan discovers Jin’s whereabouts) which also brings interesting family members to be introduced. There is a hell of a lot of assassination attempts, other dangers, sneaking about and back stabbing going on that I won’t go into but there is no lack of excitement.
Domin really comes into his own in this book, he isn’t overshadowed by either Logan or Jin (who both make an appearance) Domin really does grab this story by the throat and makes it his, he shines through when he stops trying to copy Logan’s rule and begins his own. When he has his own confidence and stops second guessing himself, he puts Logan’s rule to shame and shows the whole werepanther nation just why he is semel-aten. I must admit that it was strange seeing all these characters from a different character’s POV and although Domin does question himself a lot it was nothing like Jin’s rough rambling lol.
I have to recommend this to those who love shifters, brutal justice, conspiracy, attempted assassinations, hot sex, finding your place in the world and getting your happy ever after.(less)
Tim is thirteen when he first discovers his mate, but the pull is too much to ignore and against the orders of his mother and brother he seeks him out. Tim gets the shock of his life when he discovers his mate is still a cub of only three and that he is also a wolf/fox hybrid, but the danger his mate is in forces him to try and protect him because Tim’s pack is on the hunt… for hybrids. Eighteen years of struggling to cope without his mate takes its toll on Tim until one day his mate turns up looking to buy a horse, but although he seems attracted to Tim he doesn’t seem to have an idea about shifters or mating… just what is Tim supposed to do?
This story is split into two parts, 1993 when Tim is thirteen and first finds his mate and 2011 when he meets him for the second time. Thirteen year old Tim risks his life to protect the wolf/fox cub that is his mate, he knows that if any of his pack finds them, then Jay won’t have a chance of survival, but in the process of saving the cute cub he lands in the hands of humans and Tim thinks he may never see him again. When they meet again eighteen years later Tim is over the moon, but he quickly realizes that Jay has no clue of the world they live in or the danger that he is in… including from Tim’s own father, the Alpha of the pack.
I really enjoyed this story and was pleased with how quickly it moved along. During the first part of the story you can feel Tim’s torn feelings on having disobeyed his family, but also his confusion and elation of having found his mate, you get the fear of having to run to protect his mate and the devastation of having to leave him in the hands of humans. Jay is an absolute sweetheart as a cub and you will fall in love with the little cheeky cub, and it is heart breaking when Tim and Jay are torn apart. During the second part of the story we have them meeting as adults, Tim struggles to contain his wolf and not to just mate Jay in front of the world, while Jay is confused by the powerful attraction he feels for a stranger. Tim has to explain everything concerning the shifter world to Jay, in-between hot bouts of sex and then Tim has to protect Jay when his father discovers Jay is a hybrid.
I have to say that this story was interesting with its shifter world, the fact that they could recognize mates from an early age and that while they have fast healing they still receive scars and that there are some injuries that can’t be healed was more realistic than some shifter stories. It was also really interesting seeing the way the pack ranking worked or rather how they tried to force it to work, and I am hoping that there will be a book for Robin (Tim’s brother) because he is such a great character that he deserves his own happiness. All the characters are great in their own way and Tim’s family is as interesting as the main characters are, and the main characters Tim and Jay are brilliant.
I will recommend this to those who love shifters, tension, conflict, attraction, pining, danger, escapes, really hot sex and a happy ending.(less)
Peter is all set for an interview for a coveted job when he catches the eye of the boss’s son and nearly gets turfed out on his ear. Jarred is shocked when he first sets eyes on Peter, but at his father’s (Drew) urging accepts the other man. Peter is about to be confronted with his new future, a future that will change his life forever, but with Jarred by his side anything is possible. Both Peter and Jarred might be able to circumvent fate and save Drew and put a stop to the wolf who is laying claim to Peter, but just who is the Alpha between them?
This story has some great ideas, but the execution was weak. Peter has no clue what he is walking into when he goes for an interview, meeting the Wellington’s is about to shake the foundations of his life. Jarred never wants to meet his mate, because he knows it heralds his father’s death and the last thing he wants is to lose his father. When Jarred and Peter meet and their hands meet the connection is made, Jarred thinks that all he has to do now is keep an eye on his dad and keep him out of danger, but Peter reacts strangely and they discover that Peter has a secret of his own that Peter didn’t even know.
Jarred and Peter are great characters who both battle to be top dog, their connection is primal and passionate and the sex is explosive and hot. They both hurtle head long into their mating, even when they want to hold back. They both have a lot on their plates with Jarred worried about his dad, discovering his mate and trying to keep the business afloat, Peter has to cope with his sudden discovery of shifters, the secret about himself and the Alpha wolf who wants him. They both have to deal with the urge to mate and they have to work together to keep Drew safe and to keep Peter out of the hands of the Alpha wolf.
When I read the blurb I expected the book to have more of a corporate setting, but other than Peter and Jarred meeting at work and some vague mentioning’s about the business being in trouble the setting of the story is mainly outside. I liked how the shifters were though, they are much more primal and back to basic shifters, with the moon being the main influence and with the human sides keeping a very tight rein on the wolves. The actual relationship between Peter and Jarred is a very basic want/need with no emotional connection developing between them, but the whole storyline is set over just a few days so there was no real time for them to progress with it.
I will recommend this story to those who love passionate paranormals, a touch of danger, an interesting storyline, hot men, even hotter sex and a very happy ending. (less)
Mo is still getting used to living in the future and he really doesn’t want to be tied down just yet. He doesn’t understand what is happening with Mykel and nobody is giving him the chance to catch up. Mykel is willing to leave, if that is what Mo wants, but he will miss his mate more than anything. When Mo explains he wants them to be friend’s first, Mykel jumps at the chance.
I enjoyed this story; especially the part where Mo wants to be friends before jumping into a mating. Mykel has had a strict upbringing where the laws are everything. He doesn’t quite get that Mo is holding back because of himself and not because of anything that Mykel has done. Mo tries to explain to Mykel that he just needs time, but when Mo makes a grave mistake, he realizes that Mykel means more to him than he thought. A well-written story that was enjoyable and humorous with a little danger thrown in to make it more enjoyable.
I must admit that I enjoy the way that Stormy Glenn and Lynn Hagen have worked together to produce this fun, light-hearted, enjoyable series that has just enough danger and angst thrown in to keep us reading and a story-line that is also intriguing but isn’t too heavy. The mates are fun and quirky and their partners are a little bit stern but easy going (well kinda) they meld well together and make great couples and Mo and Mykel are no different, the sex is hot and sexy and they might have some slight problems (ha ha ha) but they make it through to the end.
So I will recommend this to those who enjoy shifters, science fiction-ish, futuristic, hot sex, a bit of danger, some angst and happy endings.(less)
Zeus was found abandoned on a science vessel by the Mar’Sani, a reptilian race, accepted into the Imperial family he grows up loved and wanted even though he is blind, at thirteen he has his eyesight repaired by the Chtichlians. Having his sight is hard Zeus prefers to rely on what he hears as what he sees can’t always be trusted, now Zeus is about to return home with his brothers after spending nearly five years on a spaceport as the Master Mechanic. Dargon and his symbiote Alpha are currently on the run from a Psonics who wants their important cargo, snatching the Master Mechanic seems like a great idea, he can fix the ship on the run but Dargon has to fight his attraction to the man, after all the mechanic is human.
This is an incredible science fiction story that has the authors’ imagination running riot and creating an incredible experience with an array of wonderful species. Zeus, Dargon and Alpha are incredible characters who have a full adventure in this story, Zeus was brought up by the Mar’Sani and thinks of himself as one, Dargon is a Dar Massaga who shifts into a lion and Alpha is a symbiote who bonded with Dargon at puberty… and that’s all I am going to tell you lol. No truly I am not saying anything else as it would only confuse if I tried to explain further, it really needs to be experienced by reading the story and getting the full impact of all the descriptions and full explanations.
The world building is brilliantly done and is laced throughout the story, the characters are built up beautifully and the storyline is intriguing and exciting. There are many characters that you want to know more about, but only because they seem so interesting, there is a lot going on with the storyline but it doesn’t bog us down with too many details… it leads us into it, giving us tantalising glimpses but making sure we don’t lose any threads. There’s some hot sex between Zeus, Dargon and Alpha which is truly unique and very hot, there’s also some m-preg which is also completely unique and fits seamlessly into the story.
I have to recommend this to those who love m-preg, unique characters, hot sex, bloody fights, hidden agendas, hot aliens and hot men and a great ending with the promise of another great book to come. (less)
Declan and his twin Lachlan are wolf shifters on the run, from other shifters and from human hunters managing to stay one step ahead of both groups until the day they are separated and Declan runs on to Flathead land. Flathead alpha, Law, is intrigued by the sexy shifter that is chased onto his land, he offers sanctuary for the persecuted shifter, but trust is hard for Declan and he wonders what payment is expected of him. Their attraction to each other blurs the lines and Declan doesn’t know what to do and there is no way he will lead his brother to danger.
This is quite a good shifter story where alphas control their land with an iron fist and a young shifter is persecuted for something he had no control over. Declan and his brother Lachlan have not had a peaceful life so when Declan stumbles across an alpha who seems to sympathise, he doesn’t know if he can really trust him, and his attraction to Law distracts him, but he won’t chance his brothers safety in case it is a trap. Law is attracted to the young shifter who is chased onto his land, he understands that Declan had no control over what happened when he was younger and would like nothing better than to have Declan and his brother settle down in his pack.
I really liked how this story was written with Declan being suspicious and expecting the worst, the way that Law is patient and gentle with Declan and the way that they both take their time getting to know each other before they commit to a relationship. The story is quite simple, two brothers all alone in the world persecuted for something they had no control over and now unwilling to trust and an alpha who desperately wants that trust. The story is well written and the characters are good, we seem to be getting the basics in ready for the next book as well for Trace (Law’s brother and beta) and Lachlan. I do wish that there had been more detailed background of Declan and Lachlan’s time in captivity rather than the broad overview we got, I would have also liked to discover more about Law and the type of man he is, rather than just Declan’s view of him, we know that he was nice to Declan and that people seemed to respect him but that was really it.
I will recommend this to those who love paranormal, shifters, some sweet hot sex, an interesting storyline and a happy ending that paves the way for the next story. (less)
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Mikhail is babysitting the last of the rescued children when they are attacked by Sirens, rescue comes from an unexpected source in the shape of a sexy dragon shifter Jin. Bob and Sam come back from dropping Mal off at her new school to find the bathroom destroyed and a new quest to undertake.... returning the little dragon shifter princess home and discovering who was behind her kidnapping. Jin is surprised to discover his mate is a vampire/siren hybrid, but Mikhail isn't sure if he could be a dragons mate.
Dragon's *sigh* I just love dragon's, and this story is an excellent paranormal with a horrid new enemy. Mikhail is left in charge for only a short amount of time when Siren's attack with the intention of snatching the last remaining child, Eliza, when Jin comes to the rescue they realize that a dragon must have been involved with the original kidnapping. Jin, Mikhail, Sam and Bob along with Eliza head back to the dragon mountains to return Eliza to the safety of her father and to discover who would want to get rid of her. Mikhail and Jin also have to find out if their mating stands a chance, because Mikhail doesn't have much hope of anyone really wanting a vampire/siren hybrid.
This story is a wonderful addition to the End Street Detective Agency continuing the kidnapped children/ siren storyline while weaving slightly darker elements into it to give us an exciting dangerous story. While we have meet Mikhail in previous books, this book gives us insight into his life and you can't help but admire him as his past is unfolded. Jin is a very sexy new character who is also tough, but sweet and vulnerable at times. We see both men instantly connect but because of Mikhail's mixed heritage Mikhail doesn't recognize, at first, that Jin is his mate. Jin is so understanding of Mikhail's qualms and they really are a fantastic couple when they finally get it together.
The rest of the storyline reveals more than just the siren's involvement and we discover that someone, who Jin thought was a good friend, is a traitor. We see Sam make an ill advised deal in his desperation to save someone, and he is delightful in his worry for Mal. Bob and Sam's relationship continues to develop and they are brilliant together in this story, as well as the support they show their friend. We also get an excellent ending with hints for the next case.
I recommend this to those who love brilliant paranormal investigations, danger and mad dragons, new storyline directions, great characters, incredible hot sex and a brilliant ending that leads us to the next book. (less)
Daimon feels the need to go to the rescue when he feels a wave of despair. What he finds is a young man drugged and locked in a guarded room. When the young man is awake, Daimon gets the full story and decides to help the young man and his mate reunite. But, Daimon tries to deny to himself that the young man’s captor is his own mate.
This is a wonderful novella that will touch your heart with its sweetness, but send your pulse pounding with its erotic-ness. Daimon is a demon of desire, of carnality. But, when he comes across Leland and learns the story of separated lovers, he sets aside his licentious intentions and vows to reunite the lovers. Gene is Leland’s jailor, but his intentions are good. He has been asked by Leland’s father to keep Leland away from Randal (Leland’s mate). He ends up drugging Leland to stop him from hurting himself, but then Leland disappears. Leland only wants his mate and is devastated at the lengths his father has gone to.
This is actually a story of two sets of lovers Daimon and Gene, and Leland and Randal; two mates meeting and two mates being reunited. Daimon is such a sweetheart in the way he was with Leland and the way he supported Leland in his need for his mate. Even putting aside his mating with Gene until Leland was back in the arms of the man he loves. Leland just wants to be back with his mate and although he is missing his mate, he is still a sweet young man. Gene is a nice guy who is just trying to do the best, but his means of doing it is all wrong.
The sex between these two couples really is hot, but it is also erotic and loving. Daimon and Gene’s coming together is passionate, while Leland and Randal’s is loving and hot. We mainly get to know Daimon and Leland, while Gene we see less of, but he’s important to Daimon, and Randal there are only a couple of scenes with him in them.
So I recommend this for those who love Demons and shifters, a sweet couple reuniting, passionate, hot, erotic sex and love and a happy ending for all.(less)
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Tristan is just days away from giving birth, Ushna is overjoyed that Tristan has agreed to bond with him and they are both still dreading heading to Georgia and the Elder Council. Bahbelle becomes a trial for Tristan as he faces down the Elder Council, sets forth the fate of those who attacked him and his pack, stumbles across a hidden prison and faces the loss of everyone that he loves.
Holy cow, this series just keeps getting better and better. This story picks up where Dreams Of The Forgotten ends, there is a brief summary covering some of what has come before but all the books do need to be read in order. Tristan and Ushna are looking forward to bonding now that Tristan has accepted that they are meant-to-be, they still mourn the loss of Brian (Ushna’s twin flame) and they begin to understand that what is between them was always meant-to-be. But danger comes when they are in Bahbelle, Georgia, on top of the challenges they face with the Elder Council and Tristan’s claim and pregnancy, Tristan makes a choice that could just permanently separate him from Ushna and a surprising twist awaits us all.
Lexi Ander has done it again, she has swept us along with her paranormal beings taking us to a fantasy world and dropped bombs into the storyline that shocks and astounds us. The beautifully created paranormal world we find ourselves in is beautifully described, it draws us in with its imagery and heart felt emotions, with its epic storyline and brilliant characters. The scenes we find ourselves in are amazing, standing with our enraged Xenres (prince) in Lupe form awaiting his orders when his beloved is endangered, or the soul crushing fear as we face a mythical creature. I honestly can say that this series is actually just one epic fantasy/paranormal with twists and turns and new discoveries that has your breath hitching and gasping in shock, it blindsides you with new details and has you desperate for the last two books… well although I really want to read them and enjoy them, I am filled with trepidation that this incredible fantasy world would come to an end.
I recommend this to those who love incredible fantasy, brilliant world building, fantastic characters, danger, love, hot sex and a brilliant continuous storyline. (less)
This story is part of a series and can be read in any order. Ethan is twenty and has never shifted, he’s grown weaker by the year and suffers from unexplained pain. Deciding that he wants to accept death on his own terms he goes with some pack mates to town to hunt down vampires, instead of dying though he realises that bleeding out released his wolf and that Miguel, the big badass vampire is his mate. Miguel is over four hundred years old, he has no interest in playing nice and when crossed is vicious, his thirst for blood is strong and is only getting stronger. When Miguel crosses paths with wolf shifter Ethan he is puzzled by the shifters reaction to him and when Ethan keeps turning up Miguel gives in to his attraction, but with shifters and vampires hating each other they have opposition to face.
This is a brilliant story that tells us the tale of Miguel and Ethan who we met briefly in Wake Me Up Inside. This story begins just over fifty years before Wake Me Up Inside with a young Ethan who has been shunned by his pack because he is different. Never having shifted and being weak Ethan can’t believe it when he wakes up the morning after the vampire attack, not only is he still alive but he is a wolf and has never felt stronger and he has found his mate. Miguel is in town to buy land but since he has been in town his thirst for blood has grown, meeting Ethan confuses him because Ethan is a wolf and Miguel wants him, his blood smells wonderful but shifter blood is poisonous, and why does Ethan say they are mates?
Miguel and Ethan are wonderful characters, Ethan with his simple needs and plain words and Miguel with his badass attitude and need to protect Ethan. I can’t tell you how much I adored Ethan and his easy attitude, his willingness to forgive others and how he wraps Miguel around his little finger without even trying. I loved Miguel’s take no crap attitude and how, when he accepted his feelings for Ethan, he would do anything for him even when it goes against what he wants to do. I loved the easy storyline that has just a smidge of danger and the sex is hot and they are made for each other in every way, it just warms you up seeing them together.
The storyline is great and we learn a lot more about the world the paranormals live in, when they were even further removed from humanity and when the animosity between vampires and shifters was high. This story is an easy read with just a touch of danger from jealous vampires, Ethan and Miguel are this story, their coming together, being perfect for each other and providing just what the other needs, both of them helping to save the pack even when they turn their back on Ethan and the discovery that not all wolves have shifter mates and that true mates could be anywhere or anyone.
I recommend this story to all those who love shifters and vampires, a great love story, hot sex, a touch of danger, a pissed off vampire and a very wonderful happy ending. (less)
This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Ten years ago Cale escaped the horror of his life to help his friend, for the last ten years he has led a life he thought he would never, the only thing that he regrets is that his mate doesn’t seem to want him. For ten years Raven has watched his mate from a distance, keeping Cale at arm’s length so the man can heal from the traumas of the past, and after advice from his friends decides the time is right to court his mate, but, Raven is confronted by Cale about his relationship with Storm and crossed wires mean that both men are hurt. While Raven goes off to think things through someone from his past rears his ugly head and both Raven and Cale are in danger.
This is a good continuation of the Portland Pack series, bringing us Cale and Raven’s story. We met both characters in Liam’s Happiness and it really is best to read that story first so you understand a lot of what Cale went through. Raven is a man with a long past and in this story that past comes back with a vengeance, Cale also reveals more about his past which helps the Portland Pack and allies to rescue more abused wolves. Raven and Cale have a rough start to their relationship when Cale misunderstands Raven’s relationship with Storm, and it sends them in a tail spin and they both have to be honest with each other about their pasts.
I enjoyed this story and the development of the storyline, Raven and Cale are a very well suited couple but because Raven never explained why he was waiting to claim Cale meant that Cale thought Raven didn’t want him, so there is some angsty moments, we also have some passionate moments between Cale and Raven that shows how hard waiting was for both of them. The action in this story is good and we see some of the characters from the previous book, with some new ones being added.
I will recommend this to those who love shifters, men who stand tall against their pasts, who can brave the past, men who let their mates recover, who have hot sex and begin to get their happily ever after. (less)
This story is part of a series and I recommend they be read in order. Lewis wants nothing more than to eventually settle down with a woman and have a whole bunch of werebabies, unfortunately sexy vampire John is the one that smells like home and Lewis is determined to ignore him. John is having a hard time convincing Lewis to even be in the same room as him never mind go on a date, and he is just starting to make progress when Lewis learns some startling news.
Hmmm a very interesting story that has a couple of twists that adds some excitement. Lewis longs for a family of his own but his attraction to John throws him completely, deciding to ignore the attraction doesn’t help and he eventually gives into his feelings, but the discovery of a secret may just destroy what they are building. John is ecstatic when Lewis begins to come around, but he is furious when he learns what his granddaughter has planned, to protect Lewis he keeps quiet and it just might back-fire big time when Lewis discovers the truth.
I found this story to be a very light-hearted novella that was a joy to read as we visit with the Larson family again. Lewis is commitment shy, he is unsure of what he feels for John and because he eventually wants children he ignores what he does feel. John is sure that he wants Lewis but getting Lewis to acknowledge the attraction is hard, and just when everything seems to be going well his family nearly wrecks the relationship. Both characters are great and the sparks between them could start a forest fire, the problems they face are well played but I did feel like the ending was rushed, and everything was resolved with no real solution and just seemed to be glossed over.
The storyline was great and very well written, we see Tam and Valko from Trials Of Tam and we have Lewis and John in some steamy embraces that really heat up the page, we very briefly see some cute werebabies and Lewis, John and Tam take care of a threat to the family. Although I really enjoyed this story I really feel like even though we get a happy ending it wasn’t a satisfactory ending, simply because it was very slick and glossy with no real punishment dealt out to the perpetrator, and Lewis and John really needed to have it out between them before they kissed and made up.
I am going to recommend this to those who love shifters, vampires, hot men, hot sex, an interesting twist, a manipulating female and a very happy ending.
