This book is part of a series and must be read in order. Simeon is a mountain lion shifter and part of the Underground working to break the choke-hold that the Glitnir councils has on all paranormals, when he meets Asher, the half blood demon, his attraction for the sexy blood demon flairs. Asher is a blood demon and is a slave and a warrior, he keeps his family connections secret. When his half brother Phin asks for his help he doesn't know if he can take the chance, especially when he has an annoying mountain lion shifter with him. Together Simeon and Asher have to convince the mountain lion guild to join them against the elves who are trying to take over the throne, and to give the blood demons their freedom. But will Asher's and Simeon's attraction prove to be a distraction from what is important to the Underground and the freedom of the paranormals?
Well, well, well, we go further afield in this addition to the Supernatural Bounty Hunters series by entering the Second Kingdom and discovering just how far the Giltnir council rot has spread. Simeon is a character that has you wondering if he ever cared about anything other than his problems because his complete disregard when he first meets Asher has you wanting to slap him, but he does redeem himself quite nicely. Asher has every right to be aloof, with the fear of what could happen if anyone ever discovered who his father is hovering over his head and the treatment of Blood demons, it is no wonder that he tries to keep Simeon at arms length.
We see some changes beginning in this story and the progression of the overall storyline throughout the series is moving forward at a very nice pace, the threads connecting the different species is getting stronger and the Underground movement is gaining force. With this story we have some exciting developments that effect both Simeon and Asher, we see a desperate attempt to stop an usurper from taking over the Elven throne and the Felines are pushed to action, but the best thing in this story has to be their relationship that starts out rocky, but it won't be denied.
Both Asher and Simeon are great characters and their relationship moves quickly, it's also very hot with both characters being passionate. The writing is good and flows pretty smoothly and we see characters from previous books so we can see how they are doing and the strain that their revolution is having on them. I must admit to enjoying this story and the way it is progressing, it is opening up further to include a wider range of species, drawing them together for a better future.
I recommend this story to those who love the paranormal in all it's variety, great characters who make you react, a brilliant storyline that has far to go and a love that stands through danger and change and a great ending. ...more
This story is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone, although it is best enjoyed read in order. Jackie is a cowboy sorcerer and is proud to be both, he spends his time breaking curses and finding items for other abnormals. Jackie has finally decided to take a step to making his relationship to his lover more permanent by moving to the same city, but he gets a surprise of his own when he makes an unexpected visit to his lover. Alone and upset Jackie is asked to help an old paranormal detective, but when the task is done Jackie discovers the old detective has been attacked and Jackie won't rest until he has captured the culprit.
This is a great addition to the Dance With The Devil series continuing in the same universe as the previous books and we meet some of the previous characters as Jackie seeks justice. Jackie Black is a great character, he is a proper cowboy with all their turns of phrase. Jackie is also a sorcerer and he loves his alchemy-enhanced pistols, and he uses them often and with skill. When Jackie has his heart broken by his lying cheating lover he doesn't let it interfere with his new case that he has taken on for himself. We get dragged into a world of mystery and intrigue as Jackie hunts for an evil killer who is after a secret that is best left buried.
I thought this story was great, I loved the way we get drawn into a world of danger and secrets, the way that Jackie won't back down from a challenge and how he is completely blindsided by Ned... well how we all were. Jackie is a wonderful character and for the first half of the story we wonder just who his love interest will be, will it be Wyatt the annoying kid who annoys everyone, will it be Phoenix the damaged vampire or Ned the demon who has a huge grudge? It was nicely done because it came out of nowhere and the characters played it nicely so when we do discover who Jackie's love interest is we are surprised. The actually storyline becomes blurry at times as you try to keep up with what is going on, mainly because there seems to be more people involved than originally thought and all of them seem bent on killing.
I recommend this story to those that love paranormals galore, danger at every turn, digging out old secrets, righting a wrong, discovering love and getting the bad guys. ...more
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Madigan, Cross, Bren, Michel, Yuri and Dex are gearing up for the coming war with Azrael and his Hunters. All the angels are finding it hard to allow Madigan into danger but they know he has to open his powers and gain control of them if they are to win, they are all feeling the pressure but as more angels are pledged to fight by the Archangels they begin to feel hope. Surprise allies come into play but first Madigan has to prove his worth and if he doesn't learn to call upon his powers the war maybe over even before it has begun.
This is a great addition to the His Guardian Angels series with the war rapidly approaching Madigan and his angels manage to still find time to love. As the war approaches Madigan and his angels discover that they have many more allies than they ever imagined, Madigan has to open his powers and with the help of allies old and new he begins to get a grip on them. Cross, Bren, Michel, Dex and Yuri find they have lots to keep them occupied as they help to train the Nephilim for the upcoming battle, but the fear that Madigan isn't going to be ready lingers.
Oh damn this is a steamy addition to the series which is packed with surprises. Jana Downs pulls out all the stops as sides are taken and allies are forged as the war approaches, she has given us something to look forward to as Madigan's powers come to the fore. We see our favorite angels coming together in support and love, we see them handling their fears with a reaffirmation of their love and we watch as amazing allies come to their aid. Their sex lives don't falter one bit as Madigan uses his powers in a sensual way and boy are they smoking hot. The ending is one that you want to choke the author for.... I wanted to cry in sheer frustration.
I recommend this to those that love mixing it up with your paranormals, watching as your pages start to smoke because of the hot sex, seeing the army come together and a pure frustrating ending that ends much to soon. ...more
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Tristan, Machidiel (Mac) and Alastor might love each other but the repercussions from Tristan becoming an incubus is much more far reaching than any of them thought. Trying to find a way out of Tristan’s bargain isn’t going well and when Tristan needs help during his training he pulls an innocent into his problems and leads him to danger. With a dream demon playing games with their dreams and an innocent suffering because of Tristan’s choices, Tristan, Mac and Alastor have to face their past to move forward, but it just might tear them apart.
God damn you L.M. Brown, you should be devising torture in Hell, those were my first thoughts when I finished this book, and they were also my second and third thoughts as well…. My fourth thought was ‘where does she live’ because I want that third book now! Tristan, Mac and Alastor are moving into a new home but their happiness is tinged with the awareness of Tristan’s deal with Lawrence. Tristan’s first training session doesn’t go well and the repercussions are far reaching with their repeated combined lives in the past being revealed and the truth of Alastor’s past being revealed.
This is a great story that will pull you every which way as you follow the angel, demon and incubus as they try to sort out their problems. Tristan’s actions are what resound throughout this story, everything he does seems to have devastating consequences. Mac has problems of his own as Raphael tries to convince him Alastor isn’t worthy of his time. Alastor has his past shown to him after being plagued by nightmares and the truth of his long forgotten actions affect his relationship. This is definitely a rollercoaster ride as you cheer for their love and then doubt their actions, at one point you want to smack the crap out of Tristan as he walks away from the mess he makes and you pity Alastor as he still doubts his place in the relationship. We are given insight into others actions and we are given a very surprising twist, we are also left with the big question of just what Tristan, Alastor and Mac are going to do now.
I have to recommend this to those who love angels, demons and incubus getting it on, if you adore conflict and arguments, if you love surprising twists at the last minute and you love cliffhanger endings that leave you panting for more. ...more
This book is part of a series and must be read in order. Pascal and London are digging deep to pull together the Vampire, Werewolves and humans to prevent the splintering of Spectrum, but they seem to be fighting a losing battle when the violence seems to be getting worse. When London is taken and tortured by the rebel vampires, Pascal thinks it’s all over but just as Pascal is about to exact his revenge London rises. Now Pascal has London back, but London has no memory of them being together. They have bigger problems to face though, Spectrum is facing all-out war and Pascal and London must protect the innocent, now they just need to convince the werewolves to join them of face losing Spectrum for good.
This is a great addition to the Spectrum Skies series with tension between the races and the unknown of Pascal’s and London’s relationship. Pascal and London are still deeply in love struggling to find snatched moments together while Spectrum goes to hell, but when Pascal’s enemies try to destroy that love by taking London they discover Pascal isn’t a tame vampire at all. Fighting for his love and to keep the peace Pascal will do anything for London even if it means giving him up.
The situation in Spectrum is heading for war, no longer are some species happy to live in harmony. Some humans want control over the paranormals, some vampires want to dominate Spectrum and some demons are looking for free reign from the underworld and caught in the middle are London and Pascal with their band of officers.
I loved how this story was developed with London becoming something different but his personality reverting back to how we first met him, Pascal being heartbroken but refusing to give up and both of them facing the possibility that the Spectrum that they have always know being lost to them. We discover just who has been creating all the trouble in Spectrum, we have a standoff, loss and destruction and the determination of a vampire to win back the man he loves.
I will recommend this to those that love paranormal conflicts, twists, loss, love, vampires on the brink of war, dealing with demons and a happy for now ending. ...more
This book is part of a series and must be read in order. Tony has always put duty first, his emotions have always been put aside, but now he faces a challenge to keep his emotions under wrap when he is assigned to interrogate Theron over his betrayal. Tony developed feelings for the young prince and it is tearing him apart that Theron is a traitor, being in constant contact with Theron and not being able to get answers is wearing him down. Theron doesn’t know what to do, his men, the Cranes, have been captured by Desmond and they are held over Theron’s head, but betraying his cousin Prince Salvatore isn’t easy. Being labelled a traitor is hard to bear when the man he has come to admire, Tony, is no longer friendly and only wants answers. Both men will have to decide where their trust lies and want their feelings really are for each other when Theron’s God, Sucellos, interferes.
This is a brilliant addition to the Ravyn Warrior’s series, the conclusion with Tony finally finding his mate, but is it the end of the world of Demontia for us? Tony has been the stoic warrior throughout this series, the backbone of the Ravyn’s and now he faces a challenge unlike any other, his torn feelings for a traitor, the man who has betrayed his beloved Prince Salvatore. Theron is also torn, Desmond is holding the lives of his Cranes over his head, but he doesn’t want to betray his cousin and he hates the disappointment he causes in Tony, the Ravyn he is attracted to.
This is a great story with torn emotions and loyalties, passion and love, doubts and reassurances, danger and rescues and an interfering God. This story brings about the conclusion of Salvatore’s war with Desmond with many surprises and twists, and an ending that has you wondering if there will be a spin-off series. Tony and Theron have much to work through before they have their happy ever after, while Tony has a hard time with Theron’s betrayal when he has the full story he can begin to understand what drove Theron. Theron doesn’t know at first if Tony really loves him and he has to crack Tony’s hard shell to find out. In the meantime, in the background, the other Ravyn’s are bringing about the destruction of Desmond’s armies; that is until Desmond pulls off a spell that could mean failure for the Ravyn’s.
The story is well written and you do become involved as Tony makes his choices, Theron does annoy you a little bit with his decisions and you wonder where his backbone is, Tony is brilliant as he works through his feelings. The twists are interesting and the surprises are great, I would love for Jana Downs to write a book with the interfering God Sucellos as a more prominent figure.
I will recommend this to those that love paranormal world wars, admitting love, forgiveness, twists and surprises, hot passionate sex, brilliant characters and a happy ending. ...more
Matthew has had many tragedies throughout his life, and each year his birthday brings danger but his guardian angel Gabriel is always there in the background keeping him safe. But, this year is different as the forces of evil are determined to put an end to the Gifted One and Gabriel crosses a line never meant to be crossed. Matt and Gabriel jeopardise God’s Grand Design by falling in love, defying God’s laws and now a sacrifice must be made before it is too late.
This is a great good vs evil, heavenly powers story. Matthew is the Gifted One and since the night of his birth has been hunted by evil and Gabriel is the Archangel charged with keeping him safe, but Gabriel has grown to love the mortal under his protection and he breaks the rules when he shows himself to Matt. Matt is confused about his instant connection to the mysterious Gabriel, but he tries to put it to the side to make a go of it with Craig, a man who has great potential in the boyfriend stakes. Evil still haunts Matt and monsters from his past are poised to strike and the contact with Gabriel pushes their feelings to the surface, but acting on their love could prove too dangerous with the powers of heaven disapproving.
I enjoyed most of this book, but I have to admit to disliking parts of it, especially when it came to Matt’s inability to basically stand up for himself against his friends and how understanding he had to be all the time, it wasn’t natural. The storyline was great and Gabriel and Matt were an interesting couple, I liked the way that the past was told in full for the pivotal moments and the way that evil twisted humans to do its bidding. The way the story flows is brilliant and it has emotional twists and turns, with some heavenly aspects and stories lending to the story. There’s lots of danger with rescues, some angst, arguing, forgiveness and love, there are some horrifying moments but also some moments of great sacrifice and devotion.
I will recommend this to those who love Angels and evil, some hot sex, Archangels giving it all up for love, danger, and a great ending. ...more

This story is part of a series and must be read in order. When Sam and Bob go to the aid of Trawl the troll they discover that it isn’t only Shelby (Hart’s daughter) that has been taken, they discover that many other paranormal children have been taken. Hart is desperate and turns to the demon Dan for help, it isn’t easy getting the demon on side though because Hart broke his heart, but the children have to come first before Hart can make thinks right with his demon.
Whoop, well I am just loving this series from Amber Kell and R.J. Scott. A human (?) PI getting dragged further into the paranormal world, no matter what he really wants and falling in love with a vampire named Bob, I just love it! In this new addition to the series we have not only Bob and Sam and their new shenanigans, but we also get more of Hart and we are introduced to his love interest Danjal, we also find out more about the missing paranormal child case and find out the truth about her disappearance.
Sam and Bob’s relationship seems to be moving forwards in leaps and bounds, even if Sam still does find Bob annoying, Sam discovers he has more new powers even if he tries to deny them and Sam also seems to have made a scary enemy. Hart gave up his love to do his duty by his pack, but now he turns to Dan in his hour of need, Dan was hurt by Hart’s actions and words but sets it aside to find Hart’s daughter, they discover the backstabbing of some in the wolf pack and Hart has to face down an Alpha challenge.
This story is really well written and switches between the couples as they hunt for the children, there’s danger, excitement, some great characters and just a touch of hot loving, there’s betrayal and there’s forgiveness and then there is the mystery that is Sam. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series… could there be a love interest for Mikhail, Ohhh maybe for Teddy the ghost!! I also hope we get to see Trawl again because he seems like a lovable big lug.
I will recommend this to those who love paranormal PI’s, vampire’s, hot demons and wolves, betrayal, danger and a great storyline with a happily ever after for a wolf and his mate. ...more

Diagnosis: Wolf by Poppy Dennison
Andrew has been left destitute by his brothers pilfering ways, he is now scrambling for a job and has to take what is offered to him, and a difficult patient is the least of his worries. Facing two growling bodyguards down isn’t a problem, but the lack of medical records is, how is he supposed to help his patient if he doesn’t know the symptoms? Finding himself attracted to the patient, Caleb, feels awkward, but is determined to ignore it… until the patient responds to him, discovering the cause of Caleb’s illness is worrying and Andrew begins to realise just how much trouble his brother has landed him in.
Ohhhh Andrew has a hard time when his brother lands him in an untenable position and it becomes even harder when Andrew discovers the truth about Caleb, fixing Caleb’s illness turns out to be the easy part. I really enjoyed this story and the relationship between Andrew and Caleb was great, although they turn out to be mates they take their time before completing their bond. The story draws you in and holds you there as it becomes laced with betrayal, Andrew has a hard choice to make and Caleb and his father discover a backstabber in the family. A great little novella that is slightly different from the usual shifter stories, a must read for shifter lovers, and those who love a great story of twists, betrayal and love.
Landslide by Mary Calmes
Frank has been a courier for paranormals for several years, for the last three he has worked for Cael, an incubus demon, and he has rejected all the advances the demon has made, sure that he is just playing with him. When Frank’s sister lands herself in trouble by sleeping with a werewolf and then witnessing a body dump, he turns to Cael for help and ends up discovering that Cael is playing for keeps.
Frank has no confidence in his looks, he put on a lot of weight when he left the Marines and although he has lost a lot of it, he still feels like he has a long way to go. Cael is gorgeous and although he has nearly begged the man, Frank, the man who is his mate, just won’t come to him, when Frank comes to him for help he jumps at the chance to spend time with him. While solving the problems in Frank’s hometown, they both discover what the other really wants. I found both Frank and Cael to be brilliant characters, and the story to be wonderful with all its paranormal aspects, Frank’s lack of self-image and Cael’s determination to get his man. This story is laced with interesting paranormal tidbits and has some interesting turns, Cael is one scary demon when crossed and when Frank and Cael finally get it together they are fantastic. This is not a story to miss if you love paranormal, great characters, an interesting storyline and a very happy ending. ...more
So this is the first instalment of a serial, and it is a fantastic start. Devon works for Safeguard Systems and he has infiltrated a private club to shut it down and to also capture demon summoner, Porter Grey, but things don’t go according to plan. Rio is Devon’s backup and maybe the only person to be able to resist Devon, when things go wrong Rio leaps in to rescue Devon before Porter can carry out his plans for Devon.
This short instalment was brilliant, we have a seductive cambion working to bring down criminals, we have the mysterious Rio who can send demons to hell and we have a demon summoner who is trying to stay one step ahead of Safeguard Systems to carry out a plan for his employer. I have to admit that I am hooked; the entire storyline has me panting for more. With Devon being a cambion you expect a world weary seducer, but what we get is a young man who has a sweet energetic countenance who loves sex, he also has a major crush on Rio because he knows that when Rio is with him it’s because Rio wants to be there with Devon, because a cambion nature has no effect on Rio. Rio is a mystery as we get to know him, Devon’s power doesn’t affect him and he can send demons to hell with a touch, he is also secretly fond of Devon, and he has more fire power than a small nation.
This story has it all… seduction, guns blazing, explosions, hot explosive sex, a great storyline, mysterious characters, escapes and an ending that will lead nicely to the next instalment. I have to recommend everyone has a peek at this because I doubt that you will be disappointed.
Alastor is a Demon and Machidiel is an Angel they both yearn for the other but they think it is forbidden when both of them fall for the same human Tristan they think they have found a way to be together without breaking the rules, but not everything is as it seems and they come close to losing Tristan forever. Tristan was drawn to both Alastor and Mac and was happy to be with them but jealousy makes him doubt how they feel for him, he has to believe in their love if he is going to survive.
Well what can I say but wow a brilliantly written story that is the perfect blend of heaven and hell with some twists thrown in for good measure. Tristan falls for both Alastor and Mac but he has doubts as to how they really feel for him, do they just want him as a way for them to be together or do they genuinely have feelings for him. Alastor has loved Mac for years but as a demon he doesn’t think he deserves to have him, with Tristan he begins to find happiness and a way to have Mac in his life but he feels jealous that Tristan always seems to go to Mac first. Mac is just happy to have both men in his life any way he can get them but something happens to disturb the balance and he has to make sacrifices not once but twice.
This is one hell of a story that has twists that you never see coming, the feelings of love between the three are good but when you have a Demon who won’t admit to love and a human who feels he is a substitute then you know the doubts will set in and some people will just take advantage of that, especially when that person has marked Tristan to become a demon. You can feel Tristan’s frustration that there is nothing he can do to stop the outcome no matter what he wants and then there is Mac and Alastor’s fear that Tristan will never remember them.
I think that these three will grow on you although there are times that you want to smack each one on different occasions, I think that you will also really want to smack Lawrence (Tristan’s friend) and you will grit your teeth at Tristan’s mistrust in Mac and Alastor, you will shake your head at Mac’s need to sacrifice himself time and again without telling anyone else and you will despair at Alastor’s belief that he isn’t redeemable and can’t admit his love to Mac and Tristan.
I will recommend this to those who love Angel’s and Demon’s, fantasy, twists and surprises, really hot sex, love, jealousy, temptation and an ending that lets you know there is more to come. ...more
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Fremont keeps his past hidden from everyone, he has secrets that he doesn’t want revealed and it is putting pressure on his relationship with Leandre, when he is forced to return to Spezia after ten years in exile Leandre goes with him, but Fremont’s secrets start to come spilling out and it is only Leandre’s faith that keeps them going. Leandre knows Fremont loves him and he has faith that Fremont will let him in on his past when it is the right time, but as he discovers Fremont’s secrets even his faith is starting to take a bashing, and Fremont needs all the faith he can get when someone tries to set him up for murder… again.
This is a brilliant story set in a world of Angel’s, Demon’s, Devil’s and Human’s. Fremont and Leandre are making their relationship work, Leandre wants more, he wants to know more but Fremont is very cagey about his past. Fremont doesn’t want Leandre to know about his past because he doesn’t want Leandre to leave him, Fremont’s past is filled with a mystery and that mystery is about to come back to haunt him. When they both journey to Spezia they are both pulled into a conspiracy of murder, mystery and political intrigue that is a danger to both of them, but with the help of some friends from Fenian they just might be able to save them all from death.
This storyline is wonderful, it draws you in from the beginning as you begin to wonder just what Fremont is hiding in his past, and you begin to wonder just who could be setting Fremont up. Leandre and Fremont make a wonderful couple, Leandre has full faith in Fremont but he wants Fremont to open up to him. Fremont would like nothing better than to be open with Leandre but he fears that Leandre will walk out on him if he knows the truth. Fremont might seem like a fully confident character but he is quite insecure when it comes to his love life, Leandre is a confident demon and nothing is going to make him change his mind about loving Fremont, not even a murder charge
I loved the mystery and intrigue, the danger and threats and trying to figure just who is out to get Fremont, you have suspicions but something always points you in another direction before you come back full circle only to be misdirected again. The story is brilliantly written, the background we are given is great and the world building for Spezia is breath-taking especially for Foxwood. Happily we see characters from Water Waltz and we are introduced to Fremont’s family and friends, some of whom are very interesting and I would love to see more of.
I will recommend this story to those who love paranormal alternative worlds, mystery, suspense, murder, danger, intrigue, love, belief in a loved one and a happy ending that has hints for whose story might be next....more
Chanda is an incubus who owns the Honey Flower House, a house of pleasure, when a demon comes looking for a missing person Chanda quickly remembers why he avoids demons. Azar has been charged with finding a runaway who’s avoiding marriage, but what he finds instead is a most alluring incubus, now Azar has to convince Chanda to help find the runaway, and also to believe when Azar declares Chanda his.
This is a great short story that has a strong dash of passion and violence. Chanda has been badly burnt by a demon in the past, so when a demon comes to Honey Flower House looking for a runaway Chanda isn’t that inclined to help him but this demon makes Chanda feel things he wished he didn’t. Azar meets Chanda in his hunt for a missing person and becomes fascinated with the incubus, when Azar discovers that Chanda is demon shy he vows to punish the demon that hurt Chanda.
Ooohhh I love possessive demons who are bloodthirsty, they just send shivers down my spine, and when they are bloodthirsty for a love interest, I just want to snatch them up and keep them (they suit my nature *sniff*) Azar is a perfect example of a possessive bloodthirsty demon, the instant he meets Chanda he decides the incubus is his and he shows that determination throughout the story, even when Chanda is less than welcoming. Chanda is still stinging from his last brush with a demon, so as you can imagine he wants nothing much to do with Azar, but saying that there is a strong attraction between them.
So a story in kind of two parts, the first part is finding the missing person and the second is Azar getting Chanda to believe he is serious, the two are entwined really well and the conclusion for both stories is quite satisfying to those of us who are a bit gruesome… I particularly liked Azar’s love token to Chanda… okay fine I loved it, so I am strange lol. Megan Derr weaves a short story that is entirely satisfying, with enough world building and background that leaves you wanting more from this fantasy world.
I recommend this story to those who love high fantasy, great characters, a bloodthirsty demon, an alluring incubus, an interesting storyline, a bit of gruesomeness and a happy ending. ...more
Abraxas has been haunted in his dreams by a demon. A demon that is everything that Abraxas has ever wanted and when he is killed and sent to the underworld Svel (the demon he dreams of) is the one he turns to. Svel has been plagued by a human for weeks in his sleep and now that human’s soul has washed up on the shores of Amaia, in the underworld. The connection between them is strong and the Fates play their hand, but do Svel and Abraxas have the strength and love to face their future together and survive?
This is an incredibly imaginative novella that is vivid in its descriptions and passionate in its loving. Abraxas is a warrior and faces the underworld like any warrior would, head held high and fear hidden deep. he accepts the hand that is dealt to him and the new opportunity that is pointed his way. Meeting the demon that has haunted his dreams eases him some and him and his demon fall in love, but an enemy comes out of the shadows and Svel and Abraxas have to face the Fates. But, the enemy refuses to play by the rules and Abraxas soul hangs in the balance.
Okay, before we go any further, I want to give you a warning that if you haven’t a strong stomach then read with caution because some of the descriptions are vivid and disgusting and that is just the Titan’s (four overlords of the underworld). Leontii Holender has given us a vivid look at the underworld, with incredible descriptions, a great storyline and a hectic journey. We are given a full picture of the surroundings and pitfalls that Abraxas and Svel face and it is a miracle that they managed to fall in love and stay together with everything that is chucked at them.
Abraxas and Svel face danger to be together and to stop an enemy from destroying Svel. They both risk everything to love the other and they are both willing to give up everything for the other. When these two are together, you could cut the air with a knife because of the attraction and wan, they are very passionate and erotic and yes, there is an element of D/s and slight BDSM, but it is a demon thing. The sex is hot, erotic and passionate but there are elements of love and they need that love for what is to come.
So, this story has a lot going for it, demons, Titans, a perilous journey across the underworld, incredible descriptions, a demon and human soul falling in love, the Fate’s, the demon Queen, an enemy bent on destruction, hot sex and an ending that is great. So, really what are you waiting for?...more
Ian has to undergo a trial to prove himself worthy of being a mage adept. His assigned guide is a red cap demon called Aodh and they have a perilous journey before them. However, Ian has another motive for going through with the trial and he might have found an unexpected ally in Aodh. But, first they must come out of the trial alive and Ian fights his attraction to Aodh when he is shown that Aodh just might turn on him.
An interesting premise of how strict the magical world is with only the strongest being allowed to become mage adepts/sorcerers, well as long as they aren’t too strong. This is a well written story that gives us some background on the magic users and how they are treated by those who have stronger magic. Ian has to complete the trial well enough to become a sorcerer, but not so enough that he could be seen as a threat. Either way the threat of death lingers over him. Aodh has no choice but to help Ian during the trial, but Ian surprises him and gives him a glimmer of hope. Now, they just have to get past Taylent (sorcerer in charge of the trial).
I will be honest and say that we don’t see that much of a romance; it is more of a passionate coming together and trust built during the trial and putting their lives in each other’s hands. It happens over a very short amount of time, but it does feel longer with everything that they deal with during the trial. The descriptions that we get from the pocket of space that the trial is held in are very impressive and kinda icky. I was impressed with the twist that emerged during the trial and I really liked Ian’s attitude regarding the current set up of the sorcerer’s ranks.
We don’t get to know that much about Aodh, which I thought was a shame, but he seems to suit Ian well when he realizes that Ian isn’t like the others that have come before him. The sex between them is very hot, but it isn’t sweet and gentle, it is very passionate and intense. The epilogue was cool and I really hope that we will get a sequel.
So, I recommend this to those who love magic, shaking up a system, revenge, vengeance, a hot demon and a hot mage and a happy ending (when they aren’t battling other sorcerer’s)....more
Jamie was just fifteen when he discovered, in a horrific way, that he is a Soul Collector. Now, eight years later, he battles demons. Nightly, saving the souls they have stolen and by day he’s in St. Bartholomew’s Seminary University trying to discover more about that which he battles. Jamie meets Ios who is a lot more than he seems and when Jamie learns the truth, he has an important choice to make. One that could affect his and Ios’s worlds.
This was a very interesting fantasy that kept me in its grip from the beginning. Soul Collector’s rescue doomed souls that have been taken by demons and when a Soul Collector dies, he takes them with him to heaven. Jamie is one such Soul Collector, but according to Ios, Jamie is also the Soul Collector of prophecy, who will save his world. But, Jamie is doubtful, especially when he discovers that he is supposed to mate with Ios. Ios has known for years that Jamie would be his. But, Jamie thinks in black and white, which makes Ios think that Jamie will never accept for what he is.
This story is wonderful and is well written. It has a bit of something for everyone, from angst to love, from danger to devastation, with a lot of mystical/spiritual magic thrown in. The storyline is brilliant and it is quite realistic to the storyline the way that Jamie is constantly torn with his feelings for Ios. Even though Ios has always expected to mate with Jamie, it is explained fully how he feels for Jamie and why and it adds to the depth of the story. Yes, we see Jamie confused and scared, but he man’s up and accepts what he is truly feeling and what he needs to do; after all there are worlds depending on his actions. The world building was good and we got a pretty good feel for Ios’s world, I really can’t wait for the rest of the series.
So, I will recommend this to those who love fantasy, demons, paranormal, hot sex, angst, confusion and guilt, a huge demon battle and complete annihilation of the baddie demons and a happy ending finally for Jamie and Ios....more
Jae is fleeing the building after being unceremoniously turfed out of bed. He is upset and can’t understand why men always treat him like crap. After he takes a tumble down the stairs, he comes to and finds a stranger tending to him. But, that stranger will give him everything he has ever wanted. Kian has been searching for his Chosen for many years and now he has finally found him. But, it is just the beginning of their trouble. They now have to cross to the demon realm and register their mating. But, danger lurks ahead and it’s a race against time to get to Verdelet (demon who performs the ceremony), before the catchers get them.
An absolutely brilliant fantasy that is great in detail, as well as imagination. Jae has somehow always picked losers and men who treat him like crap. The latest one, Varick, has turfed him out of bed. So bitterly disappointed and upset, Jae falls down the stairs, Kian is there when he awakens and just from contact Jae knows that Kian will be everything to him. But, it is a lot for Jae to take in, as they have to leave immediately to avoid the catchers who would kill them both. Kian knows it isn’t the ideal situation for them, but this was how it was for demons. To reach Verdelet and perform the ceremony before the catchers get them is the way of the demons. But, for a human, it is fraught with worry, fear and danger, because if the catchers don’t get them, the other demons and animals might.
Wow. All I can say is…wow. The opening paragraph miss-led me because it was from Varick’s POV, so I thought there would be more of Varick throughout the book. But, no, we don’t see him again until the epilogue, where we then see what his connection is. Jae and Kian have an instant bonding, which is the way of demons, and they really are perfect for each other. We learn more about the bonding, as we go through the book and you understand then why they meld together so quickly. The demon realm is described in all its breath-taking starkness, with the dangers and pitfalls being vast and numerous. The stark contrast between day and night and the differences between demons being varied and colorful.
The world building for the demon realm is impressive; from the scorching sun that will kill to the blackest night where the creatures come out to play. from the Forest of the Dead Trees (which comes to life at night), to the vast sands surrounding Mestif’s ruins, to the Crystal Road and the Glass Sea and the numerous deadly animals that stalk them, it’s breath-taking and vivid in detail. Just getting from their starting point to their finishing line is an arduous journey, without the animals and catchers thrown in to plague them.
This is not the usually romance, as with this story their romance and love is a sure thing… surviving to enjoy it, is another matter entirely. The sex between them is hot, erotic and passionate, but as you might be able to guess, it’s few and far between that we see these scenes as they fight for survival. There are also one or two characters that a different story begins to evolve for, so that’s something to watch out for in the future.
So, who do I recommend this to? Well, if you love fantasy, paranormal, danger, instant bonding, fighting for your life, dangerous animals, dangerous demons, more danger, harsh conditions, incredible world building and a happy ever after, then this is the book for you....more
Daimon feels the need to go to the rescue when he feels a wave of despair. What he finds is a young man drugged and locked in a guarded room. When the young man is awake, Daimon gets the full story and decides to help the young man and his mate reunite. But, Daimon tries to deny to himself that the young man’s captor is his own mate.
This is a wonderful novella that will touch your heart with its sweetness, but send your pulse pounding with its erotic-ness. Daimon is a demon of desire, of carnality. But, when he comes across Leland and learns the story of separated lovers, he sets aside his licentious intentions and vows to reunite the lovers. Gene is Leland’s jailor, but his intentions are good. He has been asked by Leland’s father to keep Leland away from Randal (Leland’s mate). He ends up drugging Leland to stop him from hurting himself, but then Leland disappears. Leland only wants his mate and is devastated at the lengths his father has gone to.
This is actually a story of two sets of lovers Daimon and Gene, and Leland and Randal; two mates meeting and two mates being reunited. Daimon is such a sweetheart in the way he was with Leland and the way he supported Leland in his need for his mate. Even putting aside his mating with Gene until Leland was back in the arms of the man he loves. Leland just wants to be back with his mate and although he is missing his mate, he is still a sweet young man. Gene is a nice guy who is just trying to do the best, but his means of doing it is all wrong.
The sex between these two couples really is hot, but it is also erotic and loving. Daimon and Gene’s coming together is passionate, while Leland and Randal’s is loving and hot. We mainly get to know Daimon and Leland, while Gene we see less of, but he’s important to Daimon, and Randal there are only a couple of scenes with him in them.
So I recommend this for those who love Demons and shifters, a sweet couple reuniting, passionate, hot, erotic sex and love and a happy ending for all....more
Frost is a strong demon warrior (Guardian). He is more powerful than anyone knows, but it is a power that he has to keep hidden to protect his family. Now, he meets his mates; the ones that he was told he would never have, and a foreseeing that foretold a new future comes to light. Blair and Cian are rescued by a demon and they know that the demon is theirs. Now, in the midst of their mating heat, they have to help Frost become what he needs to be in order to overcome the corrupt council.
Oh, oh, oh great, great, great new fantasy/paranormal series and I want the second book already!! Frost has been through hell to protect his family and he has had to keep things hidden from them to keep them safe. When he discovers his mates he is overwhelmed, as he lost his own twin many years before and had been told that both brothers were needed to bond with their mate. Blair and Cain have mainly been ignored for all of their lives, when they are kidnapped they are rescued by a group of demons and the demon leader is their mate which they are pleased about, but both shifters have their own insecurity so it isn’t plain sailing and with the added pressure of the council, it proves to be an intense time.
What can I really say about this book except BRILLIANT! I thought it was great, there are secrets, mystery, mayhem, deceptions, arguments, laughs and giggles. A really well woven fantasy/paranormal that will interest you right from the start. S.A. Welsh opens the story with Frost and his brothers as they do what brothers do best… annoy the hell out of each other with teasing and arguing. We get a very good feel for Frost from the start, and we get good doses of background throughout the book so we can see the type of characters he is. When we meet Cain and Blair, it is a trying situation, because while these two are cute shifters someone is determined to keep them from Frost.
Okay, so this is the part where I have a little (a very, very small one) whine *sigh*, while I thoroughly enjoyed this book some of it dragged for me because I was really impatient to get to the action (which was incredible). So, while Frost, Cain and Blair bonded and mated and sorted out some insecurities, I was chomping at the bit for the action. The bonding etc. was really good, because we saw a lot of each person’s characteristics and they became closer because of the time spent together and reassuring each other. It showed that not all bondings with twins involved were happy as a lark straight away and it needed a bit of work. so, that was all good and the sex was incredible and plentiful and hot.
We see quite a bit of all the brothers in this story and we actually see the beginning of Storm, Leo’s (Frost’s brothers) and Morgan’s story (which is bound to be great). All the characters are well written and you get a good amount of background on them and there was a fair amount of world building, the action was well cool and I so want Frost’s powers.
With this one I will recommend it to those who love demons, shifters, awkward beginnings, passionate love, hidden secrets, fantasy and a happy ending but with complications....more
Well, it’s about time, Ms Glenn. I thought you’d never let us have this one; it has, after all, been over a year. Ok, so maybe I like Ms Glenn’s work a little bit….ok fine… a lot, but that does not mean that I will not be brutally honest. I will be.
Nick was dragged down to Jinnistan when his friend and work partner, Gabe, is taken there for safety. Having his life turned upside down wouldn’t be too bad if only the demon he has the hots for would notice him. Storym is ignoring Nick as hard as he can because he knows that Nick will be in danger because of him if he caves in. After a night of passion (really hot, sexy, gonna melt your eyeballs passion) Storym flees leaving Nick feeling betrayed, so Nick leaves for the surface.
This is a great fun read; the interaction between the characters is great (I loved the fire-ball and whirl-wind play-fight between Gabe and Nick). The dangers are realistic to the setting and Nick isn’t a walk over (Storym has to earn his trust back). Nick and Storym worked well as a couple but they also worked well as a team along with Gabe and Themper to solve the problems in the palace. Ms Glenn even starts this book exactly where the first one finished, so it jogs your memory.
So my totally honest opinion is this… go out buy the book, it’s great. You have got to read it even if it’s just for the sex because you would never believe what Storym does with those mini whirl-winds!!! And if you don’t believe that I am being brutally honest then read the book and get back to me. *sly smirk*...more
Simon breaks the rules when he saves some werewolf cubs from a demon and two humans. He becomes further involved when their alpha (Gray) asks for his help and lands in further trouble when he saves Garon’s (Gray’s son’s) life. Gray needs all the help that he can get when it comes to Others, because they don’t mix he has no clue how to deal with the problem of the demon. With the help of Simon, they just might get to the truth.
This is an extremely well written fantasy that grips you from the start. Simon breaks the Mage’s rules when he goes to the rescue of some werewolf cubs. Even knowing that he will be punished doesn’t stop him from helping them… and then he has to face their Alpha who he feels an instant attraction to. But, the troubles that he faces just keep coming as he has to face his Master and then coming to Garon’s rescue again, all while feeling ill from a magical attack. Gray also feels the attraction, but his concern is for his pack and the demon who took the cubs. As they work together to get to the bottom of the problem, secrets emerge from Simon’s family history.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found the characters to be enchanting, the storyline incredible and the plot great. Poppy Dennison has wrote an fantastic piece of work that draws you in from the beginning and doesn’t let you go as you discover the well woven plot and the intrigue and secrets and deceptions of this fantasy world. I loved the way that the supernatural circles were set up; each species keeps to themselves and has no interaction with the Others, instant distrust towards Others and it is filled with a world of possibilities. In this story, we have werewolves, mages, a demon and a vampire, the background building is brilliant and we get an idea of the everyday workings of werewolves and mages.
The characters in this book were great and I especially loved the cubs, Garon and Emily, and their personalities. The adults were good as well, with Simon and Gray being a good match, but the one who intrigued me the most was Cormac and I would love to learn more about him (hint). There are some really hot scenes between Simon and Gray. I loved the way that they worked together and just seemed to fit so well together. The way that the pack was described as a huge family and the interactions between them warmed the heart, but the way that the mages worked left me feeling sorry for the loneliness that they most all feel.
With this one, I am going to recommend it to everyone who loves fantasy, shifters, mages, vampires, demons, unexpected danger, intrigue, hot sex and a fantastic storyline… I advise everyone to give this a go because I really don’t think that you will be disappointed if you give this one a shot.
Dark has just won the Alpha challenge when he comes across his mate Kai. Kai is not all that happy to have found his mate, especially as he lives in New York and the wolf lives in Texas. But, just as Kai and Dark work things out they find they have another mate, Harry, who is being treated badly in Dark’s BDSM club. Can the three paranormals work things out or will their enemy win?
This is a story that I had high hopes for because the beginning was well written and a lot was explained about this author’s paranormals. But, then it seemed to fall apart not long after Dark and Kai first met. Dark is the new alpha, but he is a submissive and he gets really upset when Kai seems to reject him. So upset, in fact, that he tries to kill himself. Kai suddenly realizes that he doesn’t want to lose his mate and voila they are all lovey dovey. They then rescue Harry from an abusive Master and he fits nicely into a lovey dovey sandwich. Then, suddenly they are threatened by an unknown source for unknown reasons.
In the blurb it says that ‘Dark faces the fact he will never enjoy the feel of a whip or a flogger on his ass again.’ Urm, well unless this book isn’t to this blurb then that is total rubbish, as Dark couldn’t care less who knows that he bottoms and likes a flogging. What does seem to emerge is his past with another Master and how that Master disappeared never to be heard of again, leaving him feeling abandoned. Harry has his own problems to get through including the loss of his powers. Kai is the only one that seems to have no problems other than pressure from the council to do what they want.
There are several very good bits in this book and to be honest this feels more like a novel cut down to be a novella; there are lots of details and information for such a short book and there is a lot going on in the way of plot. It also seems to be quite choppy, switching back and forth between characters. The sex is very hot, the BDSM is well detailed and the characters are quite good (although Dark needs to learn not to cry at the drop of the hat).
I believe that this is this author’s first published m/m and I have to say the potential is there; it just needs to be smoothed out more. So, all in all, I will recommend this to those who love shifters, demons, vampires, hot sex, angst and a pretty good story-line. I’d also recommend this to those who are fans of Lynn Hagen, Joyee Flynn, Gale Stanley and Stormy Glenn....more
So, we are up to the third book in the series and I ask myself, can Jana Downs continue in the vein in which she started? (Can she keep giving us the good stuff?) And after reading this I have to say…yes, she can!
Salvatore is panting over the little bartender from ‘Daylight’, but is getting absolutely nowhere when he is confronted by one of his consorts. He finally admits that his feelings run deeper than he thought and on her advice he decides to finally ask his little bartender out. If he is really lucky, then he might even learn his name. Destin (not really his name) has been hurt in the past so just brushes off Salvatore’s flirting as he can never get serious about him. But then the worst happens and he has no choice but to save Salvatore’s life. This only makes things even harder for him as Salvatore goes through a vital change.
This is definitely different from the previous books and has an interesting twist. We don’t see much of the Ravyns but what we do see of them is good. There is one scene where they are all devastated and we see how each of them reacts and it is a really well-written scene. There is also one scene that will have you gasping in shock, as we learn that there is a spy in the house. In this one, Salvatore knows what he wants but Destin refuses to give in. even when it causes him emotional pain. It is an uphill battle for Salvatore to gain Destin’s trust.
There is a lot of sex with different partners (seriously, it is integral to the story-line). But when Destin gives in just once then Salvatore refuses to sleep with anyone else and it is a close call as to who has the stronger will. I thoroughly enjoyed this one as it was well-written. We find out more about Salvatore’s past, we have lots of hot steamy sex, there’s a close call with death (twice!!), Salvatore has a lot to cope with, Destin has to learn to trust his heart and we have a great happy-ever-after and a fantastic new addition to the plot and story-line.
If you like anything from above, then you will love this book. I will admit that I love how Jana Downs can keep all the Ravyns together without any of them overpowering the book except for the two main characters. And the way that the Ravyns bonds come through as strong as ever, so I am highly recommending this one to all of you....more
Allasandro is doing a favor for his fellow Ravyn Dageus (Kal) when he meets a man who pushes all his buttons. Unfortunately, he also happens to be Dageus’s vampire dad. Damian becomes intrigued by the Ravyn Allasandro and it isn’t long before the sparks and clothes are flying, it’s just a shame that Dageus is against it happening.
This is a great story-line where Ally-Cat finally finds someone who he wants to spend more than just a night with. Ally has been attracted to men in the past but never acted on it; he loves to be the centre of attention and has an out-going personality. Damian is controlling and seems dour, he no longer sings, always having his head buried in spread-sheets, he put his love life on hold when he adopted Dageus and now Dageus wants to find him a boyfriend. What we get from the first with these two men (Damian & Ally) is passionate, intense and kinky, they hit it off great but then a couple of spanners are thrown in.
I must admit I thought that after everything that had happened that Damian’s reaction was quite rational while being un-rational. Ally’s reaction was to be expected as he didn’t want to hurt his best friend or team and then he felt betrayed. Dageus can be a right spoiled brat including throwing royal temper tantrums that really made me wonder if he was really a Ravyn or a Diva in disguise. A well written plot that has left a little something for us to dwell on which hopefully we find out more about in the next installment of Ravyn’s Warriors.
So, if you want conflict, emotional conflict, hot sex, slightly kinky hot sex, tantrums, hints of secrets and a bit of danger thrown in, then I really don’t know what you are waiting for; because this has it all so, go read it and enjoy....more
