This story is part of a series and is best read in order.Evan hasn't had mucBite Me, Too by Jana Downs 4 Hearts Review written for MM Good Book Reviews
This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Evan hasn't had much luck with his sHarmony dates and much prefers to play in a hacker hangout with Blackjoy, a fellow computer expert. He has slightly flirtatious chats and develops a slight crush, but on his next date he meets a shifter he is strongly attracted to. Brandon enjoys playing with WrightTrigger on Hackverse and during a security update he recognizes some of WrightTrigger's work, it gives him the perfect opportunity to meet the man who intrigues him. Their relationship heats up but there are outside threats that threaten what they are building together.
Ohhhh Evan, you are a delightful and Brandon, you are just a touch sneaky. I really enjoyed this story, the groundwork is laid out early between Brandon and Evan with them first meeting on-line building up a budding friendship, and then, later meeting face to face with only one of them knowing the other is really their hacker friend. Evan and Brandon make a great couple, although they try to take it slow so Evan can be secure in his choice of man, they have a lot in common and enjoy each others company. But than Humans First (bigoted group) step up their game plan and Evan finds out the downfalls of being mated to a shifter.
This is a great storyline which I thought was great, we get a bit more information about the way shifters are treated by the human government *grrr* and we see the lengths that Humans First will go to to try and purify the world. Evan wants to wait until he is certain till he is turned but a slight mishap moves up the timeline, and Oh My God he is sooooo cute as a shifter... and funny, the swimming pool incident had me giggling my head off, even now thinking back on it I can't stifle a laugh. Brandon's shifted form is one I'd never want to meet but compliments Evan's in a weird sort of way.
We see characters we met in Bite Me, with Orion getting a surprise and we catch up with Jude and Logan, and we are introduced to Quinn (receptionist at sHarmony and Brandon's best friend). I have to say that this was a very satisfying story with danger, disapproval, prejudice, bigotry and on the other side of the spectrum, love, humor, great friends and enormous support. I really can't wait for what is to come next.
I recommend this to those who love shifters, brilliant characters, hot sex, sweet love, disappointment and hurt, friends pulling together in times of need and a great ending. ...more
Ohh I loved this new shifter story with it's interesting take on shifters. Jude is a proper cutie and is really fed up with his abysmal love life, he has always had a thing for shifters.... well the ones in his romance books anyway, so when he and his friends stumble across sHarmony, a dating site that caters to humans and shifters, he signs up and meets the love of his life on the first date *yay*. Logan is a wonderful man who took his little brother in when their parents died, most dates run when they discover this though, Logan is also fed up of dating shifters who subscribe to the 3 second rule "your eyes meet, one second, you take a breath, two seconds, you fall in love, three seconds." Logan wants a relationship of substance and signing up for a date with a human seems like the way to go. Not everything is rosy for the couple though because of outside interference and they have to support each other when the prejudice and bigotry begin.
So a new series and a newish take on shifters. Shifters are known to the world, most have accepted them but there are some groups that like enforce their bigotry. Human's can be changed by a virus from their mate but there is no real way of telling what their animal would be, the animal is linked to the humans personality. I liked how it was all set out and easily explained, there was no confusion or mystery just a easy explanation. The story flowed well, with everything coming together to make an enjoyable story with very likable characters, Jude and Logan were both delightful and their relationship moved quickly but with a huge amount of passion and a good dose of friendship between them.
The secondary characters were great, Evan, Collin and Orion all adding something to the story, you just know they will get their own stories in the future. While Jude and Logan's relationship is perfect for them, others try to make trouble for them and they both face a bit of danger. The shifter aspect was fascinating, especially trying to guess what type of shifter Jude would turn into... and he is so cute when he does.
I recommend this to those who love shifters, hot sex, great characters, tension and a touch of danger, a great story and a wonderful ending. ...more
This book is part of a series and is best read in order. Joseph stumbles across a dying mountain lion and two young boys while hiking, he is surprised and disbelieving when the lion changes into the sister of his childhood best friend, Dominick, and she begs him to take the children and take them to Dominick. Dominick a U.S. Marshal is surprised when Joseph calls telling him his sister is dead and his nephews need him, he rushes home to protect his nephews and to discover what happened to his sister. But he never forgot Joseph, the man he longed for, and now Joseph knows the truth about shifters Dominick can only hope that he now has a chance at happiness.
While this story is directly linked to the previous books it is more of an off shoot wrapping the up loose ends of Riley's confession of his pack mates in Soul Magic. Joseph gets more than he bargained for while taking a hike in the woods, his discovery helps to explain why his best friend cut him out of his life but Joseph isn't prepared to forgive so easily. Dominick left Joseph behind rather than admit his secret, now with Joseph discovering his secret and helping to care for his nephews Dominick hopes he will have a chance to make Joseph his, but first he has to discover what happened to his old pack and protect his nephews.
I quite enjoyed this story, it wasn't as action packed or magic filled like the previous books but it was still a very enjoyable story. Dominick left Joseph behind years ago because his attraction to Joseph was causing his shift to become unstable and Dominick couldn't tell Joseph his secret, now though Joseph has discovered the truth and Dominick discovers the attraction is still as fierce as ever. Joseph still finds it hard to believe what he saw but with Dominick confirming it Joseph is overcome with hurt that Dominick never told him. While they dance around their feelings for each other they have more important things to worry about, like what happened to Dominick's old pack and looking after two boys who have just lost their mother.
The relationship between Dominick and Joseph is pretty good with just a touch of hurt feelings keeping them from acting on their attraction, Dominick and Joseph work together to look after Blake and Avery and when they discover what happened to the pack they have to decide together what is best for the boys. I really liked the storyline and liked how everything connected together giving us answers and wrapping up a loose end, the way the relationship played out was quite relaxed with no real tension other than hurt feelings but it takes sometime for those hurt feelings to fade. The dilemma of what was best for the boys was well thought out with the adults tense while the boys playing nicely unaware of the tension floating around. We do get to see Gray and Simon as Dominick goes to them with questions and gets a lot more answers than he thought he would.
I recommend this to those who love shifters, reuniting children, rekindling friendship and love, some smoking hot sex and two men finding their happily ever after. ...more
This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Simon is an assassin, he is the best tracker in the group but when hunting for some giant baby spiders he is assigned The best tracker the wolves have... an omega. Finn really doesn't want to work with an assassin, but if he wants more missions then he has to prove he can handle himself, but damn Simon is a jerk! As the two work together they surprise each other and soon their attraction flares to life but will their budding love survive when they face opposition from Finn's brothers.
This is a great addition to Wayne County Wolves with us being introduced to more shifters who have suffered in the past. When Simon and Finn first meet neither man is really impressed with the other, they might look good enough to eat but first impressions are poor. Working together they see beneath the surface and their attraction flares, but they both want to see what they can have together before broadcasting it to the world. Finn has his brothers to think about, especially his protective older brother Tate, but his feelings for Simon won't be denied. Simon has only ever had his fellow assassins and has never really cared for anyone before, but Finn has shattered all Simon's defenses to worm his way into his heart.
So we meet new characters in this installment of Wayne County Wolves and I have to say that I really hope that two of them will be getting stories of their own. We meet Finn who isn't like normal omegas, he knows how to fight and has a super sensitive nose, he wants to do more for the pack but his older brother is protective. Simon is an assassin and Finn is the one who finds the chink in his armor, showing Simon himself that he can have more than meaningless sex and that he is more than just an assassin. They get to know each other before they act on their attraction and then wait longer before they finally admit how they feel about each other, but they have to bring Tate around because he is opposed to the relationship. Finn also has to make his twin brother, Kline, let him go and make Tate accept that Kline should also have a life of his own.
I really enjoyed this story and loved the way that neither Finn or Kline is a typical omega, both of them learning to fight and protect after their parents were killed. Both brothers are unique and I think they make a great addition to the series, Finn and Simon's story is great and we see them clearing all the spiders that escaped in The Leopard who Changed his Spots.
I recommend this to those who love shifters overcoming their pasts, danger, great characters, hot sex, tension and a great ending. ...more
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Jason leaves home and sets off for his uncles when his step-father goes too far and hits him, he has put up with verbal abuse but the violence is too much. When Jason arrives at his uncle Raul's he is pleased when Raul welcomes him with open arms and discovers that Raul has a male partner and that most of his friends are gay, it makes him feel safe. Michel is living up in the mountains putting distance between himself and the town. Visit his packmate Raul he discovers his mate, and as he gets to know Jason disaster strikes and Michel has a lot of explaining to do.
This is a good addition to the Wolves of Stone Ridge series but was a bit of a let down as well. Michel has been around for a long time and is happy to have found his mate, but his mate Jason is a lot younger than him and he isn't sure how Jason will react to being his mate. Jason is hoping to be welcomed by his uncle Raul (Choosing his Christmas Miracle) but fears rejection, but meeting his uncle and his friends eases him and he jumps at the chance of a date with the sexy mountain man. Just as things seem to get interesting between them, strange visitors drag Jason into a world Michel hasn't had a chance to inform him about. Just as Jason seems to have wrapped his head around it all a misunderstanding happens that nearly drives them apart.
While I did enjoy this story I found it to be a little strained, as though everything that could happen has happened and it was a strain to come up with something new. Jason's predicament with his step-father seemed a convenient excuse for Jason to visit his uncle, I mean suddenly after years of knowing that Jason is gay his step-father starts to verbally abuse him and then hits him, it was pushing the boundaries of reality a bit. When I first started reading the story I thought Jason must be around eighteen but he was twenty-two, but really came off as younger. Another thing that was a bit unbelievable was when Michel was thinking about how he had removed himself from the human society so he can reappear in the future with a new name, living a long time can cause problems and the only hope is that he will be forgotten, but ten years really isn't that long and unless all the town members have really bad memories then someone would recognize him.
But, saying all that, I have a soft spot for Charlie Richards wolves. Jason and Michel are one hot couple, and while they have misunderstandings and a bit of danger it is a nice little story for them. The conclusion to the mad scientist plot was a fizzle which really surprised me, after all the effort that has gone into that storyline both with Wolves of Stone Ridge and Kontra's Menagerie I was expecting something a lot more explosive. I still enjoyed this story though but not as much as I have the previous books.
I recommend this to those who love shifters, hot sex, new characters, a touch of shock and danger, misunderstandings, hot making up and a very happy ending....more
Austin's life has been hell ever since his first change and he was discovered to be a Three Form, hated and bullied he has lived with daily abuse and the only thing he has had to cling to is the promise of his True Mate. Cristiano has been lavished with love and honor, he is a True Mate and has lived the life of one of the blessed, when the urge to find his True Mate becomes too strong he heads to America to find the man he will love forever. When Austin and Cris meet the connection is instant, but Cris discovers it isn't going to be as easy as he hoped to settle with his mate. Austin has to show his mate the truth about his life and they both have to hope that they can get away from a pack bent on violence.
This story is absolutely amazing, the brutality and prejudice, the abuse and despair, along with the thread of hope and love just jump off the pages as we are told the tale of Austin and Cris. Cris really has no clue what he is heading into when he begins the journey to find his True Mate, he never imagined that his mate would have lived a life of abuse or that he would be a Three Form, the most fear and hated wolf. Austin has lived with the hope of his True Mate for many years, it is the only thing that keeps him going each day and the only reason that he doesn't turn on his abusers.
Austin and Cris are a brilliant couple but they face manage challenges as they maneuver through pack politics, prejudice, danger and psychotic pack mates. We are pulled into a story that is much more than just a love story, and we get a wealth of information about the structures of the packs and their backgrounds and roles. Austin's pack is a mess compared to others and as it begins to implode Austin and Cris get caught up in it, even as they try to leave. We are with them every step of the way as they try to find a pack who will take them, it isn't easy because of Austin being Three Form and somebody doing their best to sabotage them, we are with them as they make new friends and fight against the pack who won't let them go. We are also with them and their friends as they face loss and suffering and Austin finally finds his place in the world.
I loved this story, it was just so involved and we get a full story even though it would have been easy to have split it into two books. We meet a wealth of characters who enrich this story and I would love to see get their own stories. We feel frustration and anger at Austin's pack and we feel gratitude to the pack who are willing to give them a chance. And at the end we find it very hard to find pity for those who have hurt Austin when the full story emerges, you really can't help but feel that they got what they deserved.
I recommend this to those who love shifters, danger, finding an escape route, working through difficulties to get what you want, love and happiness, fantastic characters and a brilliant ending. ...more
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Donny is an Omega, because of how his father treated him Donny thinks he is useless and the way his pack mates treat him sometimes doesn't help. So what if he is a bit of a klutz and he sometimes does stupid things they could at least give him a chance. Proctor is coming to visit his best friend but what he finds at Black Creek has him suspicious, his friends are acting strange and there's a twink spying on them. Proctor can't deny the attraction he feels for the little twink though and soon pursues a relationship with Donny, but Proctor finds out the hard way that the town has secrets
This is a great continuation of the Building the Pack series, this time we have young Donny and Proctor, Connor and Josh's friend, leading the story. Proctor's cop instincts are instantly pinging when he is visiting his best-friend Connor, both Connor and Josh are acting oddly and Proctor is determined to get to the bottom of it. Donny is keeping an eye on Connor's and Josh's place while they have a visitor to ensure no secrets are spilled but he gets caught by Proctor and feels an attraction to the human. Both men embark on a friendship which quickly changes to more. Donny hates keeping secrets but he can't betray his pack, but when the evil wolf turns up again Donny doesn't know if Proctor will ever forgive him.
This story continues in the same vein as The New Wolf keeping the unique fresh shifter story where everything isn't instant mates and easy acceptance. Both Proctor and Josh are great characters with Donny being sweet and bratty and Proctor being protective and suspicious, they fit together perfectly as they hang out and get to know each other (barring secrets) and when they finally get it on, wow are they hot! But as always danger comes and both Donny and Proctor handle it badly before forgiveness is sought and given. It wasn't all perfect as Proctor has to deal with the secrets the hard way and Donny acts like the brat he is and sulks, I did expect a slightly different reaction from Connor and Josh though seeing as what they had also recently been through, they could have been a bit more understanding of Proctor's reaction.
I recommend this to those who love shifters, danger, secrets, hot sex, finding love, great characters and life changing discoveries. ...more
Blake is the enforcer for his pride and is annoyed when he is reduced to being a babysitter when the younger pridemates want to go clubbing, but at least he has company that is a joy to look at. Luc is Blake's equal in the neighboring pack and he has no trouble with keeping Blake company in nightclubs. The pride Elders in both prides have come up with a plan keep the younger pridemates from causing trouble, but when the plan fails they resort to a custom that is very little used and Blake and Luc find themselves able to act on their attraction. But someone is unhappy and as things heat up danger comes and Blake and Luc prove to the prides that an alliance is worthwhile.
This is a great paranormal story that has a great pride structure and some great characters. Blake is a member of the Black Shadows jaguar pride and has a fierce attraction for his counterpart, Luc, in the Golden Grass lions pride, but a relationship would be frowned upon as they still have tentative peace between the prides. They are thrown together as they keep their younger pridemates in line but when that fails they are bonded together and it gives them both the excuse to act on their attraction. But some of their prides don't want peace and set out to cause trouble and as enforcers it is Luc's and Blake's place to find out who they are.
I really did enjoy this story and I loved how the prides were set up so there wasn't just one person in charge, the storyline was interesting and we meet some wonderful characters. Luc and Blake are two smoking hot characters who are attracted to each other but have to ignore it because of the tensions within their prides. When they can finally act on it they burn up the sheets and connect together perfectly. They also face problems from within the packs as some pridemates don't want peace between the prides and cause as much trouble as they can even if it endangers the young. Luc and Blake are great characters and this story fits them perfectly. The connecting of the prides to make it easier for them all is pretty interesting but we only get it from Luc and Blake's perspective so although we see the mating bond take place we don't really see how it happens other than some of the Elders chanting. My one bugbear with this story was the editing, I found it to be poor in places and it really detracted the story.
I recommend this to those who love paranormals coming to understandings, hot man on man sex, a touch of danger, an interesting storyline and really hot sexy ending.
Levi is a werewolf and is madly in love with his boyfriend Glyn and after being together for so long they have been attempting to change Glyn into a wolf.... but Glyn is a witch and the change isn't taking. Levi doesn't know what to do, his pack is on his back about increasing numbers and a rival pack is making noises about taking over his territory but he can't betray his lover to make more wolves. Glyn wants nothing more than to become a wolf like his lover, it should help to settle his magic and the pack would accept him fully, but each month the bite doesn't take and the pack are trying to force his lover to change someone else. Can Glyn and Levi discover why Glyn isn't changing and would their love survive if Levi caved in to his packs demands.
This story is brilliant, it is a paranormal story that has disagreements, temptations, danger and realizations. Each month Levi and Glyn face disappointment when the wolf bite fails, they have been attempting for months to change witch Glyn but each time it fails. Now Levi's pack are pressuring him to increase their numbers and there is only one way to change a human into a wolf and it involves lots of sex, Levi can't do that to his lover but the pack are refusing to back down. Glyn's magic has always been unstable and with the difficulty he is having he turns to his grandmother for help, and discovers there is more each failure than he first realized.
Glyn and Levi are an established couple who love each other madly, but the packs insistence is beginning to drive them apart. There is no way that Glyn could accept his lover having sex with someone else but the pack don't care, putting Levi in an awkward position of having to choose between his pack and his lover. Both characters are brilliant, with Levi being torn over what to do and Glyn refusing to be walked on by the pack, it is a rocky time for both men but their passion for each other never lessens. When the discovery of why Glyn's change never works is discovered Levi feels guilty but Glyn takes it all in stride, it makes a very interesting storyline and has a great twist for the shifters.
I really enjoyed this story as it wasn't perfect mates and the changing of new wolves was pretty unique, both Glyn and Levi are hot characters and you can clearly see the struggle they both face as temptation is thrown in Levi's face. I was amazed at the feelings this story invoked, disappointment and anger being the main ones. It really makes you feel for Glyn as he is faced with the possibility of his lover not only changing another, but having months of sex with that person as well. The thing is, you also see it from Levi's point of view as well, especially when he is trying to convince his pack that it is wrong for them to expect him to set Glyn aside for months. This really is a great story.
I recommend this to those who love shifters with a different twist, witches in a snit, fantastic sex, brilliant characters and a great ending. ...more
Wynn is an artist who caught something on camera that places him in danger. On the run Wynn takes shelter in a small town and becomes close with the sheriff, Mick, but Wynn has a secret to hide and when his enemy catches up with him he has to disappear. Mick was intrigued by Wynn and when Wynn disappears he hopes the man will return, but when Mick discovers Wynn's secret he isn't sure if he ever wants to see him again. Wynn returns to the small town having been unable to forget the sheriff, but just as the two men begin to reconnect an ex-lover of Mick's causes trouble, and another man seeks revenge on Wynn. Can Wynn and Mick overcome the obstacles in their path to be together or will their pasts overcome their love?
This is a great story that has a touch of action with a paranormal thread through it. Wynn is a great character who lands himself in danger by catching something on camera that could put an end to his enemy. Mick is the local sheriff who helps Wynn out when Wynn needs a place to hide. Both men find themselves attracted to the other and they mildly flirt with each other before Wynn has to leave. But neither man can forget the other and they reunite, but Mick has found Wynn's secret and they have a slight confrontation. Danger still lurks for them though and comes from unexpected angles.
Wynn and Mick's relationship certainly has some ups and downs, it also has to overcome secrets and danger but they face it together and they make a wonderful couple. The storyline is really good and I really liked the simple shifter aspect; the story is of two men who both face danger falling in love and one of them just happens to be a shifter. The danger side of the story is great with it being kept pretty simple but happening a couple of times, the first time you know it is coming but the other two times it is unexpected and adds more excitement to the story. Wynn and Mick's relationship is easy going and nicely paced, they get to know each other before jumping into bed together and they are pretty hot when they eventually do.
I recommend this to those who like facing danger, a cheeky snow cat, great sex, wonderful characters, a great storyline and a sweet ending. ...more
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Mikhail is babysitting the last of the rescued children when they are attacked by Sirens, rescue comes from an unexpected source in the shape of a sexy dragon shifter Jin. Bob and Sam come back from dropping Mal off at her new school to find the bathroom destroyed and a new quest to undertake.... returning the little dragon shifter princess home and discovering who was behind her kidnapping. Jin is surprised to discover his mate is a vampire/siren hybrid, but Mikhail isn't sure if he could be a dragons mate.
Dragon's *sigh* I just love dragon's, and this story is an excellent paranormal with a horrid new enemy. Mikhail is left in charge for only a short amount of time when Siren's attack with the intention of snatching the last remaining child, Eliza, when Jin comes to the rescue they realize that a dragon must have been involved with the original kidnapping. Jin, Mikhail, Sam and Bob along with Eliza head back to the dragon mountains to return Eliza to the safety of her father and to discover who would want to get rid of her. Mikhail and Jin also have to find out if their mating stands a chance, because Mikhail doesn't have much hope of anyone really wanting a vampire/siren hybrid.
This story is a wonderful addition to the End Street Detective Agency continuing the kidnapped children/ siren storyline while weaving slightly darker elements into it to give us an exciting dangerous story. While we have meet Mikhail in previous books, this book gives us insight into his life and you can't help but admire him as his past is unfolded. Jin is a very sexy new character who is also tough, but sweet and vulnerable at times. We see both men instantly connect but because of Mikhail's mixed heritage Mikhail doesn't recognize, at first, that Jin is his mate. Jin is so understanding of Mikhail's qualms and they really are a fantastic couple when they finally get it together.
The rest of the storyline reveals more than just the siren's involvement and we discover that someone, who Jin thought was a good friend, is a traitor. We see Sam make an ill advised deal in his desperation to save someone, and he is delightful in his worry for Mal. Bob and Sam's relationship continues to develop and they are brilliant together in this story, as well as the support they show their friend. We also get an excellent ending with hints for the next case.
I recommend this to those who love brilliant paranormal investigations, danger and mad dragons, new storyline directions, great characters, incredible hot sex and a brilliant ending that leads us to the next book. ...more
Zander has led a sheltered life in the paranormal world, even though he is a warlock he has been brought up in the human world and knows very little about other paranormals. Zander is about to change that by meeting up with his on-line friend Giovanni and going to a supernatural night club, but his night of escape comes to a screeching halt when the club is attacked and he finds himself dragged into an adventure to discover who was behind the attack. Zander also discovers that his mother has been hiding a secret, he meets his mate Tau and isn't sure he wants to settle down.
This is a great paranormal story that is filled with action and secrets. Zander wants to know more about the world he belongs to but has been kept sheltered by his parents. On the one night that he throws off the shackles of responsibility it ends with him meeting his mate and being in the middle of a violent bloody attack by enemies unknown, and he takes it on himself to rescue the kidnapped paranormals when he discovers his grandmother is among those who are missing. Tau is a shifter prince, discovering his mate fills him with joy but it isn't a easy mating and he has his own challenges to face in the coming weeks. Giovanni is a warlock who threw his own chains off long ago he has no problem supporting Zander in his rescue mission, Giovanni also meets a vampire, Hung, who he isn't sure he wants to leave.
Zander is a pretty confused young man by the time this story ends, he discovers secrets that rip his family apart, discovers a mate he isn't sure he wants yet and finds himself in the middle of rescue and sets himself a mission to discover who attacked the paranormals. Zander's relationship with Tau is very rocky, and if he had know the truth about shifters it would have been a lot smoother but still tense. Giovanni proves to be a great friend for Zander and adds some zing to the story. The progression of the story is very quick but doesn't get confusing, the characters are brilliant and come together brilliantly to make an interesting cast and the storyline is action packed and exciting.
I will recommend this story to those that love paranomal story's that have a journey ahead of them, developing love that has hurdles, secrets that can destroy but make you stronger, rescues that rock, difficult choices to make and an ending that makes you want the next eleven installments now! ...more
Carlo is an Alpha wolf but he was sent away from his pack when he was forced to go to a college, now he has returned but he turns his back on the responsibility of the pack like they turned their backs on him. Angelo has had to look after the pack as the only other Alpha, but now with Carlo finishing college he can hand over the reins and think about his career in the military, what Angelo never counted on was Carlo refusing the Alpha role and staying away from the pack. Kevin and Grady are humans who are reconnecting their friendship with a holiday at the beach, falling in with a couple of wolves proves to be an interesting time and forces them to confront their feelings for each other.
This is a very cool book that has a couple of different story threads that blend together to make for a very interesting read. Carlo is bitter, Angelo is angry and neither man will step back. While Angelo was following Carlo's fathers instructions he inadvertently drove the younger wolf away, now Carlo wants nothing to do with either him or the pack. Carlo has started his own small pack with two friends, living by the beach but his friends are still young wolves who can't keep it in their pants. Joey and Ted set their sights on their new neighbors and nearly end up in sever trouble during a party.
Well, there is a lot going on in this story that grabs your attention, there are some mysteries that need to be solved and some very deep hurt feelings that might never be repaired. Okay, well... hmmm where to start, well for the last several years Angelo has been the Alpha of the Montefiore pack looking after it for the true Alpha while he is in college.... unfortunately he didn't handle it properly and Carlo thinks he has been forced out of the pack so Angelo could have it to himself. Angelo has an attraction to Carlo, and Carlo has an attraction to Angelo but Carlo is very bitter and their dealings are angry and bitter. Ted is a wolf from a different pack but his background is a mystery, Joey grew up with Carlo and is a complete horn-dog. Kevin and Grady are two cute guys who just happen to be staying next door to the wolves.
I found this story to be intriguing but packed with confusion as to what is going on. There is very little page time between Carlo and Angelo and what there is, is confrontational and angry, and you can't help feel that if Angelo had handled things differently years before, then he wouldn't be having the problems he is now dealing with. Carlo is bitter and it is blinding his future, you can understand why he felt abandoned but his hurt is driving him. There's some pack politic's that emerge that I am sure we will get a clearer picture of as the series continues, but for now we are left with questions and a rough direction of where the story is going. The only thing that I really couldn't work out was the involvement of Kevin and Grady in the story, yes they made a great side story and their involvement produced some really hot sex, but other than their involvement with the wolves making them confront their feelings for each other, it didn't really expand the storyline.
I recommend this to those who love shifters, confrontation, bitter feelings, pack politics, explosive sex, and a twisty ending that leaves you intrigued and wanting more....more
Dillon and Rick are wolf shifters who have the task of tracking a rogue wolf and his rogue pack, they have to stop the rogue before he wipes out more humans. Dillon is an Alpha and Rick is an Beta they are mates and looking for their third, when they come across lion shifter Copper the attraction between the three flares to life but Copper fights the attraction to concentrate on finding the wolf that is hunting humans on Pride land. As the three work together Alpha personalities clash and Rick sits back to watch the sparks, but when one of them is injured they all realize that their flirtation is much more serious and if the Alpha's can come to an agreement they just might have a true Triad.
This is an interesting shifter story that has some great pack structure and a hunt for rogue shifters. Dillon is a typical Alpha, he has to be top dog and doesn't have much room for compromise. Rick is an interesting Beta, who is very easy going, his relaxed attitude is a great balm to Dillon's more brash attitude. Copper is a great character who has a laid back attitude but is far from a pushover, he gives Dillon a run for his money in the Alpha stakes and gets along with Ryan beautifully. The rogue wolf wants the shifters to rule the world and is collecting shifters who are dissatisfied with pack life or have been abandoned by their packs, but he hunts for fun, killing humans and has drawn the attention of the shifter Councils.
I really liked the small bits of information about the packs structures and how they work, the storyline was interesting with a rogue wolf bent on destruction and ruling the world and the relationship between the three men was scorching with want and need. I must admit to having wanted more in the way of storyline dealing with the rogue shifters, having more details about them and what drove them. Although I thought Dillon, Rick and Copper made a great Triad in the end, I got fed up with Dillon's Alpha-ness early on, especially since he was puffing up against an Alpha lion. Copper handled dealing with another Alpha wonderfully, ignoring the blatant challenging on his own Pride lands, I also liked the fact that he didn't expect to jump into bed with them even with all the pheromones flying about.
I recommend this to those who love shifters, danger, alpha clashes, hot sex, dealing with rogues and a great hot ending....more
This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Tobias and Kyle are having difficulty in their relationship, they are under each others feet and arguing quite often. When Tobias has to go to the regional gathering he takes Kyle with him grudgingly, they both know something is going to happen after Mikey's premonition and plan to be on guard. Things happen rapidly though and with the loss of two alphas and the defeat of the Arkhon to a weaker visiting wolf, Tobias and Kyle figure out that there is a much larger plan and Tobias has to make a choice challange the new Arkhon and defeat him or allow utter chaos as the packs fall apart.
This is a great paranormal shifter story that shows the struggles of a mated pair when everything seems to constantly go wrong. Tobias and Kye are feeling the strain on their relationship after everything that has happened, they are still trying to reinforce their bond when they have to go to the Alpha gathering. The events at the gathering forces Tobias to act, he knows he is up against a formidable enemy but can't share his fears with anyone other than Kyle. As Tobias prepares to act he has to open up to Kyle and start to repair their relationship.
I really liked this story and it was nice to see that even though Tobias and Kyle are mates they still have to work at their relationship. It was really nice to see that even when they were at logger heads they still loved each other, they are just struggling to connect to each other. The whole Alpha gathering and the storyline surrounding it gave more substance to the previous difficulties they have suffered, and, it gave us answers to questions we never knew we had. Tobias really has to step up in this story and with Kyle's help he finally sees the bigger picture to all their packs troubles, it also leaves us with a longing for the next book as you know they will be facing their biggest challenge ever.
Although I did enjoy this story, I found it to be very repetitious, going over the same stuff again and again, giving us the same information as though I had forgotten it from several pages before. The story also dragged for the first half but it really picked up for the second half and that is where all the excitement and action happens, it is also where we get all the information about what has really been going on and the suspicions that form.
I recommend this to those that love shifters, working on a relationship, discovering the truth behind the troubles, fighting for what is right and a great ending that makes you want the next story. ...more
This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Skye doesn't really give a damn about his life and tries to drink away the memories of a traumatic childhood event, but now after many lectures his brother is doing something about Skye's behavior and signs him up with a mentor who will train him. Alden is the one the Coalition turns to when they have a difficult case, Alden is determined to get Skye up to snuff and the last thing he would have expected to be attracted to the lion shifter.
This is a brilliant addition to The Lost Shifters series, with a messed up shifter finding something worth fighting for. Skye is Branson's (Gage's Awakening) brother and has been messed up with the memories of the Raven attack that killed his parents, in a last ditched attempt to get Skye clean and doing something for the Coalition Branson signs Skye up for mentor training. Skye wants to prove to everyone that he can change and throws himself into the training, but he can't help longing after his trainer Alden. Alden finds himself impressed with the cute shifter and seriously attracted, but he won't cross the line with Skye while he is mentoring him, but they face opposition when the mentoring is finished.
Skye and Alden are a super couple and we get to watch their courtship in the training arena. We see Skye straighten himself out wanting to prove to people that he isn't just a f**k up and he can be an asset to the Coalition. Both Skye and Alden are great characters and they face the fall out together. They are hot and sparks fly between them and they try to do the right thing but others interfere. The storyline continues with the increasing attacks of the Raven's, but I can't help wonder if they have found all the lost shifters now because I haven't seen any new rescues of them for a while.
I recommend this to those who love shifters finding love in difficult conditions, a determination to improve ones life, hot sex and a great ending of finding peace in a family. ...more
Logan is a werewolf who has been in lust with his work partner Dylan for years, now he has finally lost control of his wolf and had mind blowing sex with Dylan, but gave him a mating bite. Now Logan has to find a way to tell Dylan that their night together will have some unusual results and can only pray that Dylan will still want him once he learns the truth. Dylan doesn't know what is going on with Logan, the man has been acting weird ever since they has sex, but Dylan and Logan have more things to worry about when they are assigned a murder and it isn't long before Dylan discovers just what Logan's problem is. Dylan doesn't know if he will ever be able to forgive Logan the lack of trust, but they have to work together to find the murderer.
This is a great paranormal story that has humor and sexy police detectives. Logan seems to be the typical alpha when it comes to Dylan but he is completely stumped when it comes to confessing the truth to Dylan about his true nature, but his time is running out with the full moon fast approaching. Dylan is a true comic book geek and when he discovers the truth about Logan he is torn between fascination and horror, but his main problem is the lack of trust that Logan showed in him. Their relationship is explosive as they try to work through their problems and find a murderer.
Logan and Dylan are fascinating characters, Logan with his confidence that seems to disappear with Dylan and Dylan for his total geekiness when it comes to comics... one of my favorite lines in the book came just after Dylan discovered the truth about Logan 'Dylan leaned forward and lowered his voice. "I know. You're some sort of mutant...like...like...Wolverine?" ' *snort* it was so great and just so typical of a comic book geek.
The writing in this story is good, you never lose the thread or get bored even for a second, the characters are brilliant and while Logan does get all ALPHA on Dylan, Dylan is quick to smack him down. The relationship side is very rocky but oh so explosive and in such a good way *sigh* hot horny men getting it on is always good but these two have that extra ingredient that makes it scorching.
I recommend this to everyone who loves shifters, difficult relationships, humor, hot explosive sex, a great storyline and a great ending. ...more
Josh and Connor have moved to the small town of Black Creek to start afresh after a hate crime in the city nearly cost one of them their lives, Josh takes over his deceased grandfathers veterinary clinic and Connor is starting over in the sheriff's office. Connor becomes interested in a series of unsolved crimes going back over fifty years that are attributed to the Black Creek Creeper and decides to try to solve some of them. But there is a deeper secret being hidden in Black Creek and Connor stumbles across it when he is viciously attacked in the woods.
This is a pretty interesting paranormal story that is shrouded in mystery. Connor and Josh are great characters, both of them deeply in love and starting anew in the town where Josh's grandfather lived. Connor is having a slightly harder time settling in the quite town after the noisy hustle of the city and he is suspicious of everything, Josh has settled in nicely loving the challenge of working with bigger animals. But when something happens to Connor and he changes Josh is willing to sell up if it means keeping the man he loves, but Connor has discovered something he doesn't quite believe himself and has no words to tell Josh what has happened.
Ah this story is like a breath of fresh air, so different from the typical shifter stories that you come across. A dangerous lone wolf seems determined to decimate the wolves of Black Creek and Connor and Josh get dragged into the danger by accident, which causes a strain in their relationship as Josh tries to accept what has happened. Connor is the poor soul who stumbles on the town secret and his situation is beautifully described, Josh's reaction is one of the best I have ever seen and I was so thankful that he didn't just throw himself into Connor's arms but held back to process what he had learned.
We have a pretty well written story that has interesting details revealed, the storyline doesn't drag but is just right for an evening read, we have some really hot sex as we see the great relationship between Josh and Connor. The shifter secret is really well covered and if you didn't know this was a shifter story going in, then the reactions of the towns people and sheriff's department would have you thinking they were all hiding a deep dark murderous killer. The other characters are really well written and you can't help but look at them through Connor's eyes and view their suspicious behavior with trepidation.
I recommend this to those that love shifters, standing by your man, hot sex and the discovery of a secret that you'd rather not have known. ...more
This story is part of a series and must be read in order, especially after Embracing Need. We reconnect with Wes and Tristan as Wes tries to gain a little bit of control over Tristan. Wes is determined to get Tristan to slow down a bit but Tristan keeps driving Wes to the edge of his control, so Wes decides to take a leaf out of Tristan’s book and if it includes handcuffs, ties and spanking to get Tristan to relax then Wes is all for it.
This is a great short story where we see demanding stallion Tristan finally get just what he needs off Wes. Wes is still worried about Tristan’s safety and is determined to get Tristan to the shooting range. Tristan is taking great joy of breaking Wes’ control though by tempting him constantly with hot sex and Wes has the idea to make Tristan take it slow instead of instant gratification and they come to a mutually satisfactory deal.
This is one hot short story as we see insatiable Tristan pushing Wes buttons and making Wes lose all control, we also see Wes taking control of Tristan’s satisfaction and taking him to heights of pleasure as he reassures Tristan of his love. Wes and Tristan are an incredibly hot couple and the sexual tension and sparks between them is incredible, there are still some fears of safety after the kidnapping in Embracing Need but the main focus in this short is of Tristan’s need to rush sex. The way that they both react to the handcuffs and spankings is mind blowingly hot with Wes finally getting the upper hand in their sexual games.
I recommend this to those who love hot sexual encounters, teasing, love and doing anything to please the one you love. ...more
This story is part of a series and is best read in order. Theo and Carlos have just returned from their vacation when they are called in to investigate a madman who is butchering young children, the press and children of Columbus have already labelled him the Bogeyman and it is up to Theo and Carlos to stop him before a third victim is butchered. When the FBI steps in Theo is suspicious as the agent seems to be keeping secrets, but with very few clues to go on and with no answers in sight Theo and Carlos have no choice but to trust the agent. When Rhett Bishop gets in touch saying he has information, Theo discovers that the foe they face is extremely dangerous and deadly. As Carlos and Theo investigate Carlos also has to face problems in his pack as a contender comes forward to challenge him for the Alpha position, and Theo has to fight his own fears if he is to ask Carlos the most important question of his life.
This is a great story continuing the turbulent relationship of Carlos and Theo, chasing a deranged killer and putting an end to the dissent in Carlos’ pack. There are quite a few things happening in this story that get briefly pulled together, it adds excitement and danger to a story that is already filled with it but it also adds confusion for Theo and Carlos. Theo is trying to build up the courage to ask Carlos an important question but his own doubts and fears are holding him back, but another brush with death convinces him to take the bull by the horns. Carlos is fighting to keep hold of his Alpha position but Theo’s actions are not helping his case at all, trying to get Theo to back off is especially hard.
Theo and Carlos are wonderful in this book, they have explosive chemistry and strike sparks off each other and when they have sex *wipes brow* they are smoking hot. The storyline was great and I really liked how Theo was trying to get into the head of the killer, trying to see how he would have done things but always coming up stumped on why the killer was doing it. Carlos’ power struggle and Theo’s reaction to it was great, we can see Theo wanting to step back and let Carlos handle it but the fear of losing Carlos has him acting in ways that cause more problems. How Carlos reacted to the undermining of his authority was superbly done but I am glad that forgiveness came quickly after.
All in all I really enjoyed this book but there was one big niggle for me, when they were all about to head off for the big confrontation against a killer with powers that had never been seen before, Theo was wondering if there was anything that could give them an advantage and I could only shake my ereader and scream ‘the bloody drug’. I won’t go into it any more than that, but something that took Theo out should have worked on the killer as well.
I have to recommend this book if you want a preternatural crime story, you love smoking hot sex, you want to see a lot of danger, some cool wicked powers, love and forgiveness, catching a killer in a wicked battle and a great ending. ...more
After the death of his sister Evan distanced himself from all that he loved by moving to Paris to pursue a career as a fashion photographer. Evan is thrilled when he is noticed by Elizabeth Nadasdy, a leading designer in Paris, but his joy is turned to horror when he discovers just what she is and she turns him into a monster. Now Evan has fled to New York to the only person he can turn to, Will his best friend, with the hope that Will will be able to help him destroy Elizabeth. Will has hopes that he will be able to help his best friend Evan, but some parts of Evan’s story are just too hard to believe until he is attacked by a ghoul. Together they discover theriomorphs (shape shifters) who are the vampires sworn enemy and they ask for their help in taking Elizabeth down. Caught in the middle of an ancient war both Will and Evan admit their feelings for each other, but they have to survive the coming confrontation to have a hope of happiness.
Blood Bathory takes us back to evil vampires who care for nothing but their own needs and nature protecting shifters who are mortal enemies. Evan though he was getting his dream when he was offered a job as an in-house photographer for a Paris fashion house, but he was getting a nightmare when the designer set her sights on him. Now Evan is on the run hoping to get help before she sinks her claws in him again, and he turns to the only person he thinks can help: Will. Will is a police office in the Computer Crime Squad and has missed his best friend Evan, when Evan turns up on his doorstep asking for help he won’t turn him down and he is pulled into a world he never imagined.
This story has a lot of detail that brings it to life, we discover a paranormal world that is constantly at war, two sides that are good and evil, each wanting to wipe the other out. Then we have Evan who is determined to make the one who changed him pay, he doesn’t want to be a vampire and sees himself as a monster. Will is a great character who is there for Evan every step of the way, trying to make him see that he isn’t a monster and is as different from his creator as night is from day. The storyline is really good, with the evil Elizabeth taking what she wants when she wants it and revelling in her power over others, the fact that Evan has escaped her and not embraced the great gift she gave him is a smack in the face she refuses to live with.
There are many characters that we are introduced to and who you can see with be linchpins not just to this story but future ones as well, they are what keep you reading as the story comes together and the pieces fall into place. Evan’s and Will’s relationship doesn’t come together until about half way through, when they both acknowledge that their brief fling in college meant more to both of them than the other thought. They are excellent together and Will is the most supportive man you could ever meet, shoring Evan up while he struggles with his new nature.
I recommend this to those who want a more original type vampire, nature loving shifters, two men reconnecting as they race through danger, a great storyline and an ending that has you hoping for the next instalment. ...more
Chip has always been close to his granny, when she passes away he is distraught and is surprised when she leaves him everything. He is even more surprised to discover the legacy that comes with the property, a Native American shifter who intends to make Chip his mate. Jason has watched over Chip’s family for a couple of generations and used to play, in his cougar form, with Chip when he was a child. Now it is time for Chip to come home and be claimed, but Chip has no idea about shifters and doesn’t take the news too well. Add in a jealous, insane shifter bent on revenge and Jason has his hands full trying to keep his mate and keeping him safe.
This is a great shifter story that takes in the Native American spirit Totems and sentinel spirit animals. Chip is a great character who is a very modern man, he might like working with his hands and the outdoors but he also loves romantic gestures. Chip has some brilliant reactions to the events going on around him and he has no intention of just lying down and rolling over when Jason tells him about shifters…. No he plans on running as fast and far as he can. Jason has been around for a very long time and has some matter-of-fact attitudes when it comes to mates, he soon learns that his mate is no pushover and isn’t going to accept his word as law.
I really enjoyed this story and thoroughly enjoyed the background for the shifters. I liked how the shifters were portrayed as two separate spirits sharing one body and that the animal side were just as sentinel as the human side, I also loved that the animal spirit could communicate with the human side and be sarcastic when needed. The relationship between Chip and Jason was really good at the beginning with Jason wooing Chip, it wasn’t insta-mating or having to mate straight away because of a bond, if circumstances had allowed they would have taken more time. Jason could be a bit overbearing at times in his worry and attitude, but Chip could be near hysterical and stubborn so they make an interesting read.
The storyline was quite good with an unexpected enemy emerging from Jason’s past and Chip’s reaction to everything that was thrown his way. Jason and Chip are hot together, but, they have some mountains to climb to get on the same footing when it comes to the progress of their relationship. The shifter aspect was wonderful and I really hope to see more of these Native American shifters in the future.
I recommend this if you love Native American Legends, shifters, enemies from the far past, lurking danger, some angst, hot sex, great characters and a wonderful ending. ...more
Dax is a police detective and an alpha wolf, he is currently trying to find out the reason why three black bear shifters were murdered. With no clues and completely stumped Dax turns to his ex-lover Adin to see if he could shed some light on what is happening to his fellow black bear shifters, Dax finds that his feelings for Adin never faded and as the murders continue Dax has to try and rein in his possessive, protective nature. Adin’s always regretted that things didn’t work out with Dax but he refuses to be ordered about, when Dax turns up asking for information on bear shifters Adin and Dax burn up the sheets but the problems are still between them. When Adin comes into the killers sights Dax sees for himself that Adin can take care of himself and the two come to a happy medium.
This is quite a good shifter story with some great background and insights, the story is well written and quite enjoyable. I liked the characters and the storyline and also enjoyed the fact that there was no insta-love or fated mates, it was just two shifters who were attracted to each other compatible in bed but seemingly incompatible out of bed. Dax is pure alpha and wasn’t able to control his need to protect what is his, Adin is a bear shifter who has always taken care of himself put the two together and you have smoking hot sex but a clash of personalities. There is a killer silently killing bear shifters for their own twisted revenge and it is the catalyst that drives Dax back to Adin. While trying to catch a killer Adin and Dax’s explosive relationship reignites but they still have issues to overcome if they don’t want it to splutter out.
This story is actually written from three perspectives Dax’s, Adin’s and the killers, so we can see everything that is going on. The relationship between Adin and Dax is explosive and they are fantastic together in bed, but out of bed Dax has to get a grip on his instincts because Adin won’t be coddled. You get a great feel for both characters and what they both feel and how they both struggle with Dax’s protective instincts, their relationship isn’t perfect but this time they are willing to try. The killer is someone who you, in a way, feel sorry for, they have been through their own hell and it has twisted them and that shines through from the killer’s thoughts and feelings.
I recommend this to those that love shifters, a twisted killer who is determined to get revenge, two shifters who have to work through their instincts, hot sex and a great ending. ...more
This story is part of a series and can be read as a standalone but is best read in order. Josh has always wanted to be an agent but he is stuck as an aide in the Agency’s New Mexico substation, he spends his days talking to the wolf shifter, who was captured a year ago, but never getting any response. Josh is left alone and just making a breakthrough with the wolf when the Knights attack to retrieve their property, Josh won’t let them get the wolf without a fight. Xavier doesn’t remember much and he wants to know everything that has happened to him, and whose voice is urging him to kill? Josh is Xavier’s lifeline, his voice drowns out the other voices urgings, so when the Knights attack Xavier protects the only one who can help him. Xavier and Josh come to an agreement, for one month Josh will help Xavier to try to overcome the voice before he calls the Agency.
This is a great addition to The Shifter series. Josh wants to be an agent more than anything else, when he develops a connection with the wolf shifter Xavier he jumps at the chance to help him and to further his own chances with the Agency. Xavier just wants to know what was done to him and to stop the voice in his head, Josh is the only thing that stops the urges and now Xavier needs Josh’s help and forces Josh to come with him. Xavier wants more from Josh than just his help he wants his body as well, but Josh can’t be involved with a shifter not if he wants to be an agent no matter how much he might want the sexy shifter.
I really enjoyed this story and how it progressed, Xavier trust in Josh being built over time and Xavier’s reliance on Josh to keep him calm, but Josh’s determination that Xavier can be coaxed as he becomes uncontrollable and his trust that Xavier won’t hurt him. Josh is caught in the middle though when it comes to what he wants, the Agency took him in and has given him a sort of family and he wants nothing more than to become an agent. But, Josh is drawn to Xavier and the Agency has strict rules concerning interaction with shifters, if he gives into his attraction to Xavier he will lose the Agency, so we see his struggle as he weighs up want he truly desires. With Xavier you see his soul-searing pain as he remembers what was done to him and what he was forced to do, his guilt is palpable and you can feel his need for revenge and it is only his love for Josh that stops him.
I found this story to be enjoyable and we see characters from previous books, it was nice to see them again and they did add a bit to the story. We get some great action and danger as the Knights are determined to get Xavier back, and Josh’s and Xavier’s love is truly tested when the owner of the voice tracks them down. I am beginning to get a healthy dislike for the Agency because of what it expects from its workers, during this story I got the feeling that their purpose was more to thwart the Knights than any true desire to help shifters.
I recommend this to those who love shifters with problems, danger, trust, love, choosing the right path, hot sex and a happy ending. ...more
Leland is struggling with his guilt over a long ago incident and has finally decided to confess everything to his best friend Drew, but on his way to Drew’s in the early hours of the morning he comes across a sight that scares and shocks him. Gathering his courage he decides to confront Drew and learns all about Drew’s secret, but he still has to confess his own secret but it isn’t the only one that comes out.
This is quite a good shifter story that is pretty basic but many secrets are revealed and true love is found. Leland and Drew have been friends for many years, they experimented together and have shared everything together but Leland has a secret and the time has come for his to confess all to Drew. Drew has a secret of his own which Leland discovers by mistake, Drew thinks his secret will drive Leland away but he forgot how stubborn his friend can be.
I enjoyed this story for its simple shifter aspect and for the relationship between the two main characters. Drew and Leland are great friends and both of them have secrets that could destroy that friendship, revealing their secrets to each other shows them both that their friendship and love for each other is very strong. Things aren’t easy as they bare their souls and a figure from Drew’s past tries to destroy what they have found. The shifter storyline is very bare bones, no pack, no instructions, just being bitten and left to fend for yourself and a feeling of vengeance wanted on the one who turned you. Drew and Leland both have a huge well of understanding, forgiveness and love.
I recommend this if you want a basic shifter story, forgiveness, hidden love, hot sex, a touch of danger, vengeance sought and a happy ending when the secrets are revealed. ...more
Ingram is seen by his father, the king Roderick, as a weakling because he can’t wield a sword and the sight of blood makes his queasy and faint. Not even Ingram’s brilliant strategists mind can make up for those failings and his father has little time for him, until Lord Mallory walks into the banquet hall. Roderick laid down a challenge and Lord Mallory met it, Ingram has to pay the price by marrying Mallory, but his father makes his plans clear and Ingram will have a choice to make, either make his father proud and betray his new husband or forever be a failure in his father’s eyes.
This story is a about a prince who just wants his father to be proud of him, but he becomes torn when he discovers what a good man his new husband really is. Both Ingram and Mallory are good characters and we get a very good feel for both of them, because of the circumstances it takes them time to really get to know each other, so it is a very slow progressing relationship. They both go into the marriage with an ulterior motive, and they both soon discover the truth of character about the other and while Mallory’s acceptance of Ingram is easier, Ingram’s causes him trouble by an ultimatum laid down by his father.
The fantasy storyline is intriguing as it unfolds, with dragons and magic and long buried secrets coming out. We get some general background and world building which gives us enough to grasp the unfolding story, and we discover manipulations and plans for a coup. Ingram comes into his own when he is with Mallory, he finally accepts his own worth and stands up for what he wants. Mallory has to reveal all his secrets to Ingram, but he has come to realise that Ingram will protect them with his life. Ingram’s brother and sister also play a good part and are vital in stopping the destruction of the kingdom, we meet many other characters who you can see will play major parts in future books and the book is definitely just the beginning of something much bigger.
I will recommend this to those who want a great fantasy, intrigue, secrets, dragons, manipulation, magic, a homicidal dragon bent on revenge, magic users who want power, shifters and a happy for now ending. ...more
Australia has been split in two since 2050 with the East shutting itself off from the West when someone accidentally caused a nuclear explosion. Aiden is looking forward to the Men At Work comeback concert and sets off from Perth for Sydney, it’s a long journey by himself on his moped but he desperately wants to see the group. Unfortunately his moped is stolen along with his money and his prized ticket. Aiden then he meets a naked man, Matthew, who turns into his shining knight who offers him a ride to Sydney. When Aiden is attacked again Matthew comes to his rescue and Aiden discovers the myth about were-kanga’s is true, both men have secrets that they hide and it gives them a lot to talk about when they are held up at the border. They become close but Aiden’s time in Sydney is limited, could they have something more than just a summer romance?
This is a great story that was surprisingly funny and sweet in equal measure. Aiden is a brilliant character who has an unhealthy obsession with murderous Tasmanian devils, his inner monologue is hilarious and is even funnier when it slips out of his mouth. Matthew is kind and generous and is the perfect foil to Aiden’s slightly manic mind, they fit together from the start and make a great couple especially when Aiden stops panicking. The shifter aspect isn’t really that much of a big deal and neither is Aiden’s mutation, it’s more a story of two men who meet on the road and hit it off, shacking up together and falling in love but then one has to leave to return to his life and they decide what to do for the future.
The story is an easy fun read that has the twist of Matthew being in the closet and his dad trying to fit him up with a woman, rather than being angsty it is just a bit tense with some great reactions from Aiden that has you smiling quite often. There is some great sex and Matthew and Aiden certainly make the most of it. What I loved most about this story was that although they quickly jumped into bed together they spent plenty of time getting to know each other before saying ‘I Love You’ and Matthew also had a great explanation for his initial feeling for Aiden.
I recommend this if you want a different kind of shifter, if you want a humorous light read, if you want guys falling in love and finding their happy ever after, this is definitely a story that you should give a chance. ...more
When Dayton injuries his arm playing basketball, he has to visit a specialist in Atlanta and does a favour for his best friend Tawny, he visits her estranged brother Hart. Hart was banished from the pride when he was eighteen, being a Liger and more powerful than the alpha, his father, was a huge mark against him and he was told he could never contact the pack again. Hart always planned to go back for his mate Drayton, the only human adopted by the pride, when he was settled but fear of rejection has him putting it off. When Drayton turns up at his apartment Hart knows it’s time to claim his mate, but Drayton isn’t ready for commitment…. And Hart has to confront his father to keep his mate.
This is a great shifter story with just a bit of tension and a touch of angst. Dayton basically grew up within the lion pride, his best friend is Tawny the alpha’s daughter and he thinks her brother, Hart, hates him but nothing could have been further from the truth. Hart has always known that Dayton is his mate, but when he is kicked out of the pride Hart knows he will return for him. When Dayton is injured and has to go to the city, Tawny decides the time has come for her brother to claim her best friend, she thinks Hart is taking too long, he has a great career and a wonderful home and now just needs his mate and Dayton has everything he could want except a man to love.
I liked the characters in this story with Dayton and Hart making a great couple, they have ups and downs as Dayton tries to accept that he is Hart’s mate, especially after the way that Hart always treated him and then again when he comes face to face with how the pride handles things. Hart’s predicament is one that makes you want to start slapping people, his mother shunned him and his father kicked him out at eighteen, banning him from contact with his sister or with anyone else in the pride, it makes you want to growl.
Although this story is quite good there wasn’t much background or world building, sometimes it felt like there should have been just a bit more detail. I would love to know where the hell that thing with Rick came from, that just blindsided me. Some of the secondary characters are wonderful like the boy band, who Drayton helps out, Maxter J and his troubled times and I would love to see them in future books, Tawny is a great character too, she is certainly sneaky but only has the best of interests.
If you love shifters, finding your way relationships, hot sex, tension and conflict, great characters and an interesting storyline then give this story a shot. ...more
Perry discovered his mate Charlie but had to wait just a bit longer to be able to claim him, Charlie wasn’t yet eighteen, but then Charlie disappeared with no clue as to where he went. Three years later Charlie turns up on Perry’s doorstep starved, broken, injured and not expected to live the night. Charlie has longed for his mate for the last three years, thinking of Perry is all that kept him going, but now physically recovered Perry seems to want nothing to do with him. Perry is sure that after everything that Charlie has gone through the last thing he needs is a horny mate intent on claiming him, so Perry focuses on finding out where Charlie has been. But, as plans are made, the distance between Perry and Charlie grows, can either man just talk to the other before it is too late.
This is a great first published work from new author Violet Joicey-Cowen. Charlie and Perry are both great characters, they just don’t talk to each other and both jump to conclusions due to body language. Perry is the typical Alpha, he wants to look after his pack and his mate, but instead of talking and including his mate he just presumes he knows what his mate needs. Charlie is still a young wolf and because of the distance that Perry holds himself at he thinks Perry doesn’t want him anymore, but Charlie doesn’t confront him or ask him about it. Both shifters think they know what is going on with the other, but they are both far from the truth.
Now let’s get on to the rest of the storyline, Charlie’s disappearance, this bit was really good but leaves us with unanswered questions. When we discover what happened to Charlie we are horrified especially when we discover there are many more who are in Charlie’s former position, now the way that Perry handled it was brilliant, even as we wish he would open up to Charlie more. The execution of the plan was nicely carried out and the sympathy and heart ache flowed smoothly for the poor paranormals that were held, everything that was described and how the scenes played out were nearly perfect and this is where our unanswered questions come from.
I can’t help but wonder what happened to the guards? What about the faculty they were held at? Are they going to do anything about Michaelson? And what about Charlie’s mother? Why isn’t Charlie in the least bit concerned about her? These are just some of the questions that were rolling around in my head by the time I finished the book. Charlie’s and Perry’s relationship is strained for a lot of the book and it isn’t until near the end that they finally talk and straighten the misunderstandings out, they are hot together and they make a good couple.
I recommend this if you love shifters, uncommunicative wolves, a brilliant rescue, a hot claiming, great characters and a very happy ending. ...more
This book is part of a series and can be read in any order. Riley became King of the Wolf Shifters four years ago, now he is coming to the rescue of the Bat Kingdom when he rescues their prince, Anghel, unable to rescue the King, Queen and heir to the Throne Anghel is now the leader of the Bat Shifters and as Riley discovers his mate as well. Anghel is devastated over the loss of his parents and sister, he never expected to take over the Throne but meeting his mate Riley eases some of his pain. Bringing their two Kingdoms together is going to cause waves throughout the shifter world that will have long reaching effects as Mother Nature begins to put her ultimate plan into play.
This is an extremely erotic story that will give you a great sex fix while giving you an interesting shifter story. Riley has been King for four years so when Anghel unexpectedly becomes King to his own Kingdom he helps him out, but more importantly they are mates. Riley isn’t sure he wants to mate yet though, but it isn’t long before he realises his procrastinating is causing Anghel pain and he accepts that Mother Nature knows what she is doing. Anghel is a Dominate and he quickly realises that his Alpha wolf is a submissive in bed, they have a perfect connection between them. Mother Nature has plans for the Kings and as they mate before her she sets her plan in motion.
This story is set 20 years before Serpent vs Serpent, introducing us to Riley and Anghel and the difficulties they faced as they merged their Kingdoms. Riley and Anghel are great characters, they have a fantastic explosive chemistry between them and they really set the pages alight. We also get treated to some very explicit graphic sexual scenes between Riley, Anghel, Geza (Riley’s twin brother) and Gabi (Anghel’s younger brother) along with some very interesting sexual scenes between Taylor (Horse Crown Prince) and Robert (Tiger Crown Prince).
I recommend this to those who love highly sexual shifters, explicit erotic explosive sex, the beginning of Mother Nature’s plans and a very happy ending. ...more
