Buy this for somebody with a sense of humour, or not, or just buy it to show to friends when they come over. Or keep it in your bag, if all your friends are dead, show it to strangers.(less)

Collins almost had me with the world she introduced, despite the fact that she's not very good at describing it, nor the characters other than a few stereotypical descriptions. While the arena is interesting, not much happens to our heroine at all, and the latter THIRD OF THE NOVEL is a cringe-worthy 'love story' which ends on a note of betrayal (oh no!) and our tough, strong heroine doesn't show the cracks worthy of somebody through major trauma, but the angst of a teenager torn between two beaus. Seriously. Not reading further.(less)

Too bad I have approximately 1.75 people who share the interest!
Great trivia, a fantastic reference guide for the classics as well as a great historical overview of this age old art form. (less)

Overall a fun read, but stronger stories are needed to potentially develop this collection. Geeks also like engrossing, interesting reads, as well as Star Trek.(less)

After many disappointing titles in a row (the last one of hers with any weight being the Boleyn Inheritance) envisioning the scheming ambition of Margaret Beaufort finally allows Gregory to draw up her best characterization in years. For those who like Gregory at her best, this is definitely recommended. (less)

While some would call them hillbillies or simple folk, Pearson turns a very small story about a child's abduction into an epic of Homeric detail about every person and family that somehow sticks their head into the tale. Hard to put down, will probably incite some laugh out loud moments, if there wasn't a bit of drag near the end this would have been 5 stars. (less)

She's growing up a bit and it's scary, it scares her and Mead makes a good effort to bring us back to what it felt like to think you know it all, before you realize you really know nothing.(less)

Similar to Harris and, unfortunately, other well-known vampire series though, BUT, the real saving grace of this series is Rose, our prickly protagonist who despite her faults, is actually quite the entertaining lead. She's actually more like a Buffy type character than any other protagonist, definitely not a Mary Sue. I'd recommend this before Harris and the ...other.. contemporary vampire series any day of the week. (less)

Not only is the story compelling (I read the majority of it in one evening, growling at distractions) but her style is as charming as ever. A great read and a great graphic novel to entice others with.(less)

Very eerie.(less)
