The author draws from many different traditions and distills them into this very fine and accessible work of art. The prayers are very practical, unpretentious and inspiring. The author helps us examine the many facets of prayer grouped according to different intentions leading me to personal transformation, intimacy with God and more effective ministry to the sick. Among its 56 prayers you may find some prayer that are very familiar to you (maybe you had never thought of them as prayer before) along with encouragement to focus and deepen your efforts. Other prayers may be completely foreign to you but offer an invitation to explore. For those who want to take prayer more seriously this book is a very good place to begin. It is not an introduction in the sense of being superficial or shallow. The author treats each individual prayer in enough depth to get the willing healer well in his or her way to a more effective and vital life of prayer. But it also shows us prayer as a vast, life long and life changing endeavor. This book is essential reading for all....more

The author’s goal seemed to be to educate the general American population on important topics, which Americans might not be familiar with. Overall, I believe she succeeded, because I learned a lot from reading this book.
I did feel, however, that the book would be strengthened if Dr. uche could add some more basic information about the regions she was discussing. For example, I gained a good understanding of women in the Omu community, but I would have liked to know more about the community at large: How many people live in the region? How do the people make a living? What kind of terrain are people living on?
I think this book provides information a topic that has never been discussed and very valuable. Omu Spirituality teaches readers even much more about the Nigerian culture. This is an Excellent resource for those who are studying Anthropology, International issues and Religion.
