A quick read,I've been listening to Dave's music for years, and I jumped at the chance to finally read his words. I was definitely not disappointed. A quick read, with snappy dialogue and some truly outrageous situations, comes off with only a few rough spots here and there. This is promising, as it's Dave's first novel written for National Novel Writing Month. I'm eagerly anticipating his later efforts, and hope he continues bringing us more of the Classic Dave Humor that those of us in the Baltimore local music scene have known and enjoyed for years.

The author (an educated, doctor-type person) purports that one of the most effective ways to enrich your memory is to engage more than just one of your senses while experiencing a particular phenomenon. For example, doing more than just looking at the scenery from your air-conditioned car can help you remember the sights of last summer's vacation to the shore: walk barefoot; touch and/or taste the grass beneath your feet; smell the sea air; listen to the gulls. Did you know inhaling distinctive scents can help you record more details about particular locales? It also can give you a more engaging culinary experience, as you smell your cooking herbs and instantly--and almost inexplicably--remember the proper order to re-assemble the bike rack you installed on your car two summers ago. And yes, tying that string on your finger to remember that task or phone number helps, too.
This book contains several different exercises that help engage several senses at once to create more synapses within your brain, and therefore have more links to memory. It's written to be very accessible and enjoyable, and hey, the exercises don't hurt a bit (though a little extra planning may be needed to make them work).
TO SUM UP: To access more tools to maintain your memory, read this book....more
