I realize this is a preview, but I REALLY hope that all the errors are taken care of before printing. The grammatical errors, punctuation and misspellings were so distracting, it took me the whole two weeks to read it. normally, this would have been a one nighter, because the story line is very worthy. So - to the story line - disregarding the problems stated above - the story was fantastic! It was original, and really a breath of fresh air to what is available right now. I was engrossed in the characters, and they progressed very realistically, from feelings of hatred, to more, and then much more! It was believable, and made me want to know much more, and soon! I won't spoil the story - but let's just say it was so full of twists and turns, it took my breath away in parts. I want more! And more corrected before I read it please!!(less)

I received this book from the author, as she dropped off a couple of her books to present to my bookstore in the hopes of carrying it for sale. I asked her if I could read it first, and she gladly accepted. I didn’t get a chance to read it immediately, but was able to settle down with it recently. That night I did not sleep, instead, I took a short nap between reading times. I was engrossed, and could not put it down. My eyes were drooping, and my head hurt, but I couldn’t let it go.
Meg is a successful author who writes under a pen name. She does this so she won’t face criticism in her own name, basically so people won’t dislike HER because of what she wrote. After a fan broke in and assaulted her in her own home, she decides to make a fresh start in Southern California, with her trusty sidekick and best friend, Bob, her dog. She has a publisher representative who is smart, wickedly good looking, and also slightly sleazy, as the reader finds out as the book progresses. He is of course in love with Meg, but she does not return his feelings, making for some awkward times between them.
When she is settled into her new house, she whips out her violin, her most treasured item, and begins a beautiful melody on her patio. She is surprised yet intrigued when her neighbor, on the other side of the privacy, joins into her melody with his piano. This is the beginning.
Without going into too many spoilers, and too much detail, Meg ends up playing her violin with a band for an acoustic tour. The music that is produced is haunting and powerful, and leads her down a trail of emotions so raw that she finds it difficult to deal with them. She finds a new family in the band members, and an intense attraction to one member in particular, who seems to hate her one-second, then adore her the next.
This book, as I said before, was impossible to put down. There were so many emotions involved, so much power, so much intensity; I didn’t dare to let go for too long. During my nap between readings, I dreamed about the characters, and what might happen. When I returned to it, the ending was so much more than I imagined. This is a love story, but it’s not a Prince Charming love story. There is no white horse. There is frustration, pain and lots of tears. And no, the ending is not a completely happy ending, which I love by the way. It parallels Meg’s own writing as well.
This was a REALISTIC love story. This could happen to any of us, and her feelings were raw, but real. I hate love stories that go off about things that could never really happen, the instant happy ending and everything is grand for everyone. I’m sorry, but I’ve never seen that happen. Life happens though, and it certainly happens in here. I ended the book in tears – not necessarily in sadness, but some, of course, but also because I was so happy to be given the opportunity to read and share this book. I recommend this to anyone, unless of course they are looking for a fairy tale. As I have said before, I do not give 5 stars to much, but this is a definite 4.9999999. I really enjoyed it, and WILL buy it for my own library. I actually hope to give it as gifts soon. Hopefully my bookstore agrees so we can get it in stock right away! (less)

I loved the spin on good versus evil, the everyday "normal" characters who turned out to be less than normal, and the direction the story went. Gabriel was a very likable character, but towards the end, I really had strong feelings against him. I understand that he tried to save the heroine, Taylor, but I also realized that he meant to use her to basically demolish human kind! I then found myself liking Chris even more, even with him being a demon. Again, the play on good versus evil, and the difference in what is considered to be true to believers nowadays, really made it interesting to me. Yes this was another story of the angel wars, but of course with a twist. The angel and demon armies were impressive, the war scenes were gruesome, but interesting. I was just really drawn into this story, and can't wait for the next one!(less)

I love how the characters came full circle at the end!! As Patti promised, many questions that I had from the first book were answered in this one. The characters never ceased to enthrall me, the descriptions never ceased to take me to the scene, and most importantly, I was ALWAYS transported to another time, another place. I really can't put into words how important that is! As a full time student, working full time, I have little to no time to relax and enjoy myself. I need an escape from my world, and this really fit the bill. Patti could go on writing these forever, and I would buy every single one!
I highly recommend this series - not to any one group of people, but to anyone who would like a bit of an escape. I was never confused, though I had questions. I am not going to give anything away, because that is much of the fun of a series! You have to read to understand! But you MUST read this!!! NOW! :) I really liked it! Thanks again Patti!(less)

Oh my goodness. The imagery on the first page alone made me want to drop everything I was doing (homework, laundry, dishes, homework, sleep, homework) just to read this immediately! It is a beginning unlike any I have read, and I was immediately drawn in. “A time when magic existed and myths, legends and the gods roamed the planets and walked freely among us.” Oh sigh. To be in those times.
After discovering the mighty characters, you meet the little girl who is the focus of the story. She has just lost her father, but she has gained some friends in the mean times, some who have ulterior motives. So far, they are good motives, but there is something sinister going on that involves this grief stricken little girl.
The story is incredible, and not like anything I have ever read before. I was drawn in with the author’s imagery, and kept drawn in by her writing. Another author stated that her writing made theirs look amateur. Well, it makes mine look down right kindergartenish! The flow was incredible, passing through time so easily and quickly, but I was never confused as to where in time I was.
I did not, however, read the preview to the next segment in this series. Why? I hate doing that!! Lol IT just makes me want the next book even more!! So I left it – though I will probably sneak a peek very soon. As I have stated before, I do not like to give 5 stars, but this is definitely a 4.999999. I really enjoyed it. It took me to another world, another place, another time. And that is what I really look for in a good book! (less)

She is pulled in by Gavin, and to my dismay, they completely fall for each other in just a couple of days. As another reviewer said, I also almost stopped reading right then. But I kept going and found the story to really develop and come to life. I really like Camille, and still want to know more about her. The story is short, which can be good, but it leaves me wanting more, more more! It is a quick read for those wanting some great reading but not with much time. I am very glad this will be a trilogy!! I am hoping to become more attached to gavin as well, because right now he just still seems odd to me and not very attractive. I'm sure this will develop as well. I was impressed with the flow of writing, very professional, not too fast, not too slow. I really recommend this to everyone!(less)
