I had actually read Knowing Caleb when it first came out. Since I try to read most books twice before I rate them, I put it on the backburner until I got around reading it again.
I have to be honest and say that out of the Hawkins brothers and of course, ReneCade, this was my least favorite book. I have no good explanation why because I really liked Jake and Caleb both as characters. Both are men who are noble, strong, and loyal and have way too many skeletons in their closets.
I don't know if I just got tired of Jake wallowing over Krista's death and refusing any kind of happiness with Caleb, or Caleb thinking he wasn't good enough for Jake because of his sordid past. Maybe I just got tired of them doing too much worrying and refusing to accept each other instead of allowing it to happen until the very end.
I still liked this book. I love the Hawkins series. ReneCade and Fallen are books I read over and over again. This might be one reason why I was disappointed in it, because I loved the other two so much. I know that most people loved Jake and Caleb as much as the other brothers, so my opinion will not be a popular one.
It was still a great series and I'm glad it ended with a happy ending. All of the Hawkins brother's deserved that.

This is my first book I have read by Cassandra Gold, and it won't be the last. For a short novella, the pacing was pretty good. It didn't feel too rushed, and the characters were pretty well developed and the storyline was interesting.
Reed is recovering from a horrible car accident. Once, he was a top paid fashion model and in a pretty steady relationship. Now, he is jobless, single and trying to find his place in the world again. While on vacation at a remote cabin, he strays too far off of the trail and gets lost. As darkness approaches, he starts to panic. Suddenly, when he starts to give up hope about being rescued, a huge beautiful wolf is standing in front of him.
At first, he is concerned about the wolf's presence, but soon it dawns on him that the wolf is trying to communicate with him and help him out. The more Reed is around the wolf, the more of a connection he feels with it. The wolf leads him to a warm cavern where he finds out there is more to the wolf that meets the eye.
Ethan can't believe his luck. When he shifted to his wolf form see about the intruder on his land, he is immediately drawn to the handsome man and wants to help him out. Surprisingly, once the man, who calls himself Reed, realises that Ethan means him no harm, he becomes very talkative and trusting with him.
I don't want to spoil anything so I won't get into much more about it. I thought the book was interesting and I liked both Reed and Ethan. Both were heroes I enjoyed reading about and really enjoyed their story. ...more

True, it is not about two uber-masculine men meeting and falling in lover with one another. Laine is definately more flamboyant than most heroes I have read about...but I still liked him and I still enjoyed this story.
Devlin Johns has come to Asheville to relocate his business. Being a wolf-shapeshifter, he has arranged a meeting with the local Alpha to let him know he is in town, and may want to join the pack. When he comes across the Alpha and a few of his followers beating up and trying to rape a smaller framed, handsome man. Dev immediately jumps in and rescues the man. Although the man becomes unconscience, Devlin immediately recognizes two things. One this delicate man is the Omega of the pack and two this Omega is his mate.
When Laine Campbell woke up in a strange hotel room he is immediately put at ease when he sees Devlin. Not only is Devlin handsome, smart and very alpha, Laine is very happy to realise that Devlin is his mate. Laine is the Omega of the pack and is used to the Alpha pushing him and the other pack members around. But, after a few moments with Devlin he feels protected and knows that Devlin will do what he must to keep him and the others safe.
Laine is not your typical hero. He is clumsy, accident prone and more feminine than most of the heros I have read about. I still liked him though. He was silly at times, but he had his funny and endearing moments for me throughout the book. I understand why he was written this way...after all he is the heart of the pack so he is more sensitive than most, so for some reason I thought he and Devlin fit somehow.
With a cast of interesting characters and some pack politics With Love was definately an interesting read. I liked it because it was different and an easy read for me on a lazy afternoon.

Emma has always felt like an outcast. She and her best friend Becky partner in a trinket story called "Wallflowers" and both women have always been accused of being somewhat eccentric in the town they live in.
Emma has never felt like a raving beauty. She is considered too short, too overweight (by today's standards) and somewhat bossy. Although, she has dated...no one holds her heart and desire like her childhood crush and local heart throb Max Cannon. He has just returned to town after several years of absence causing a stir of excitment with all of the females. Emma always admires him from afar, no man has ever measured up to him, his loyality, his kindness, his fairness toward others and his definate sex appeal.
Max Cannon is a shapeshifting puma. He has returned to take his rightful leadership as head of his pack. Successful and handsome, he often gets tired of the overwhelming attention that gets sent his way. When he overhears Emma's sultry commanding voice on a phone call with his best friend, he is immediately drawn to her. Although he remembers her as someone who was more of a "wallflower" in high school, he decides to check out the source of her sexy voice first hand.
When Max and Emma meet again, he knows she is his mate. The attraction they have for one another is immediate, and he quickly claims her to be his mate... but, there are others that do not want them to be together and will do anything to stop it.
The rapport between Emma and Max had me laughing out loud at times. She accepts the fact he is a shapeshifter and to be with him, she must be one too, VERY easily. That was kind of refreshing...maybe not realistic, but refreshing.
I really enjoyed this book! It was funny, sexy and had some great characters. A great read for someone who wants a lighthearted, not to serious read.
If you are offended by dirty word and explict sex, this book is not for you.
This is the first book in the Halle Pumas Series. The next book is Sweet Dreams. I am looking forward to reading it!

Remi definately goes through alot of change and character development. He is not the same person we met in Without Reservation, but we learn what makes him tick, and act the way he does. He and Jake are definately made for one another. I thought that the way they worked together as a team and even started their own pack, was great. Of course the sex is super hot too! From what I understand Matt's story will be next, but personally I can't wait to read about Sterling (Remi's brother) I love this series and anxiously wait for the next one!...more

Bryan Gallier is a lynx shapeshifter. Handsome and very popular, he frequents a local shapeshifter bar called the Shadow Den. Lately, he has noticed a very handsome, intelligent looking man staring at him. Attracted to the man himself, he is surprised to find out the the man he has been admiring from a far is an owl shapeshifter, and the man is afraid to approach him because of the differences with their second-natures.
For the past couple of nights, as Bryan, in his cat form, was hunting for rabbits and field mice a beautiful owl has been taking his prey just before he makes his kill. Bryan knows it is the beautiful man from the bar playing with him, so he sets his own trap to catch and possibly seduce the man.
Kyle knows his fasination with Bryan will never come to be. What would an Owl and a Cat have in common? How would they ever get along? But, he is unable to resist Bryan, and has been playing around with him while he is shifted. This makes him feel closer to Bryan in some way, even if it is to tease him.
Kyle is more than shocked when he falls into Bryan's trap, and wakes up tied to Bryan's bed. If he weren't so mad, he would be turned on...which he is. Despite his protests, he finds himself falling more into Bryan's spell and losing his heart to him. Forever.
I liked the politics between the two different shapeshifters and their determination to be together in spite of it. There is some very hot scenes and sizzling chemistry between Kyle and Bryan. I really enjoy reading this story and it will continue to be a re-read throughout the years.

The Countess's Pleasure by Emma Holly First, let me say I am normally not an Emma Holly fan. I have read a few stories by her, and some are better than others..having said that, I really liked this story. Set in victorian times in a place called Bhamjran...Georgiana, a young widow, travels there for adventure. She comes across a show in which a very handsome Yama or Demon is performing. Amazed by him, and his sensual performance she gives him an offer he can't refuse. I only wish the story had been longer. I really liked the hero and heroine together, but even though the story is short, it is well written and very enjoyable.
The Breed Next Door by Lora Leigh This story is the reason I bought this book. I am a Lora Leigh fan, and she does not dissappoint with this one! I only wish the story was longer. I really enjoy the breed books and anyone who likes this series will really like this story. What sets it aside from the others is the humor. Tarek and Lyra really have a great rapport and find humor in the way they communicate with one another. This story also shows how difficult the breeds may have fitting in the outside world.
The Blood Kiss By Shiloh Walker This story started off a little slow for me, but quickly picked up the pace and I ended up really liking it also. Roman is king of the werewolves. His brother has been kidnapped by the King of the Vampires. Vampires and Werewolves are sworn enemies. To save his brother, Roman decides to kidnap the Vampire Kings daughter...Julianna. Instead, he ends up befriending her and since she does not approve of her father's behavior, she sets out to help him. Once again, the relationship between Roman and Julianna is very sweet and sensual. This story will not disappoint.
The only story I had problems with was Falling for Anthony by Meljean Brook. It just didn't hold my interest. It needs a larger format than a short story premises. I hope ya'll give this book a try. Even those who don't like Paranormal books will enjoy this one. It was well worth the read and quite enjoyable-especially for an anthology.

Being introduced to the Pack of St. James in Wild, the first book in this series, I really enjoyed the world Noelle Mack created. When it comes to writing relationships, especially between intermediate families, Ms. Mack can really get to the heart of things. I can honestly say that I really enjoyed reading Wanton. It is a very fast-paced read filled with suspense and sensuality that won’t be denied between the main characters.
Our story starts with Marko being left in charge of the Pack. The Pack leader Kyril and his mate Vivienne, along with their newborn son are away on pack business. With Marko being second-born in the family, he is immediately left in charge. Marko is a reluctant leader. He doubts his ability to lead the Pack in a safe, constructive way, but hopes that his leadership in his brother’s absence will make Kyril proud of him.
When Marko sees Severin across the crowded ballroom, he is immediately drawn to her. She is unlike any other female he has encountered before. Mysterious and intelligent, he becomes immediately smitten with her. Finding out that she educates women to have impeccable manners, fine speech and a splendid sense of style, she is often ignored by women of the ton, but admired by the gentlemen. Marko’s becomes determined to weave himself into her life and become part of her very existence.
Severin can’t believe that the intriguing Marko is as crazy about her and she is him. Attracted to his kindness and strong belief in loyalty, both Severin and Marko’s become attached to one another quickly. She knows there are secrets Marko’s is hiding from her, but hopes that one day he will be able to open up to her.
When Marko stumbles across the dead body of a prostitute, he notices that she is wearing a locket with the Pack’s symbol on it. Not knowing how she is connected to the pack, he starts doing some investigating to find out who the mystery woman is. One murder leads to another, and soon Marko’s fears that he is being set up. Afraid that Severin will be harmed, he pushes away from her until he can get the mystery solved.
Upset by Marko’s disappearing act, Severin keeps herself busy by training a young woman who is about to on the market for a well-established husband of the ton. When her young ward runs away, Severin enlists Marko’s help, in hopes that they will find her before the killer does.
Wanton is filled with so many wonderful characters. Severin’s sister is a force to be reckoned with, and we are happily visited by Marko’s cousin Lukian, whom I loved in the first book. There are many characters re-visited in this book from the first book, Wild. Although you can probably read this book without reading the first one, in my opinion, it would be best to read the first book in this series first, to better understand the politics and relationship between the brothers and other pack members.
I really enjoyed every minute of this book! I thought that Severin and Marko’s relationship sizzled off of the pages in this book. The chemistry between them was smoking hot, and the action and mystery in the storyline was a real page turner. Both Marko and Severin were characters that could easily be identified with. They both have insecurities they must overcome, but I thought both characters were very well developed, and I loved seeing them work out their differences and come together.
The next Pack of St. James book written by Noelle Mack is called Wicked. It will be about Semyon the youngest and wildest brother. It is due out in February of 2009. I know I can’t wait to read the conclusion of these wonderful characters and what woman will tame Semyon’s wild reputation! (FM stands for a hermaphrodite...I wasn't sure of how to say it...lol) I really enjoyed this book. It is a three story anthology written by differnent authors. This book pushes the envelope on what some may or may not enjoy with their erotica. Twice Blessed by Rachel Bo When Jenny runs into the Blake brothers several years after their triste together a few years ago, they are more determined than ever to not let her run away from them again, and to prove to her that she is the mate they have been looking for. With any Rachel Bo book, I thought this story had some very well developed characters. It isn't always roses and champagne with her books. They have issues to work out, and this story was not exception. I loved them together, and I found myself cheering them on throughout the story. My only gripe is I wish would have been longer, but (sigh) I can't have everything...lol Christmas Noir By Barbara Karmazin Shannon McNal is not your typical heroine. She is a hermaphrodite, and an activist for others like her to be treated fairly, and to be accepted in a world that looks upon hermaphrodites as freaks. She is a very intelligent, beautiful woman (she has both male and female genitals) but also a very lonely one. When her life becomes in danger, she is put under 24 hour police protection by two of the most intriguing people she has ever met. Fergus and Tanny are partners in and out of work. They are very happy together, but when they must protect the sweet, sexy Shannon, but Fergus and Tanny find themselves drawn to her. This was a first for me. I haven't ever read a story about a hermaphrodite before. I found myself really wanting them all to be together. Fergus and Tanny are perfect for Shannon because they fulfill all of her sexual desires for both male and females. I REALLY wish this had been a full length novel, and I plan on looking into this author more. I thought it was well-written, I cared about the characters and really didnt' give a rip if Shannon was different or not...I even didn't care that it had F/FM contact...I just thought they all belonged together, so that makes a great story to me. :) UNFORTUNATELY...Jet Mykles story was written in first person. I TRIED so HARD to read it and I just couldn't. I love Jet's other books, but when she writes stories in first person it drives me crazy!!!!! I am sure it was good...but I just can't get past my PROBLEM....lol

Have you ever read a book you wanted to be great, but it just missed it’s mark? Wild The Pack of St. James by Noelle Mack has been that book for me. FHave you ever read a book you wanted to be great, but it just missed it’s mark? Wild The Pack of St. James by Noelle Mack has been that book for me. First, let me say that although I didn’t love the book, I did like it. I know that Ms. Mack needed to set up the plotline for her continuing series with Kyril’s brothers, but unfortunately for me it was at Kyril’s and Vivienne’s expense.
As soon as the novel starts, we are in what feels like the middle of Kyril’s and Vivienne’s relationship. I felt like I had started in the middle of the book, and that I had missed something important… like why they connected, and why their feelings were as strong as they were. Honestly, I felt kind of cheated when I read about them throughout the book. One moment they are thinking about consummating their relationship…the next they are in love, then they don’t see one another for a long period of time. What made them connect? What drove their attraction to one another? Why didn’t they communicate better with one another?
Please don’t get me wrong, I liked both Kyril and Vivienne. Kyril is a strong, handsome leader. He puts his pack first, and rules it with a firm but compassionate hand. He is interesting and funny, and I totally understood why the ladies and gentlemen in the novel were drawn to his self-assuredness and masculinity. Vivienne is also very notable in her own right. She has had to take care of herself in any way she can to survive. She is smart and likable, but somewhat naïve at times.
What didn’t gel for me is… when Vivienne’s life is in danger because of her relationship with Kyril, he felt like he couldn’t keep her safe, so he sends his cousin in his steed to take care of her. I know he wanted to protect her, but Kyril was the leader of the Pack…isn’t he supposed to be the one everyone relies on, especially when others are weak and in danger? Shouldn’t he be doing everything in his power to keep his loved ones safe himself, instead of sending others to do his job?
Kyril and Vivienne’s relationship definitely took a back burner in this book. Please don’t get me wrong, there are some great moments between them, but they are few and far between because there is so much else going on. I felt cheated. But, on the plus side the relationship Kryil has with his brother’s and cousin was wonderful. He definitely is a well-established leader and I enjoyed the camaraderie the men had between them.
Even though I was a little disappointed, I am still looking forward to reading the next book in the series. The world of the Pack of St. James is still interesting with it’s Russian culture and the traditions of the St. James werewolves. So, Wild The Pack of St. James was a good read, I am hoping that the next book Wanton, which features Kyril’s sexy brother Marko will be released in July of 2008.
As with other Noelle Mack novels, if you are offended by strong language and explicit sexual situations, than this novel if not for you.
