I confess, I’ve never read a short story written by her before, so I admit I was curious if I would become as emotionally involved between her characters with such a short storyline like I normally do with her longer novels. After I read it, I decided that Ms. Guillone is not only fantastic at writing long novels, but short stories as well.
It was practically love at first sight when Tamotsu first laid eyes on Aki. They were both freshmen in high school and even though they became instant best friends, Tamotsu has always kept his love for his friend a secret. Throughout the years, Tamotsu has watched Aki change from a sweet and talented musician to a rebellious rock star, and thanks for Aki’s persistence, Tamotsu not only manages Aki’s band, but remains his best friend as well.
Tamotsu has watched Aki go through a score of lovers and even though this saddens him, he happily clings to the fact that Aki comes to him when he needs a friend, to relax or to feel safe. When Aki sings a new ballad about unrequited love at a concert, Tamotsu is concerned. Not only does he think that Aki has been hiding this great love from him, but he may somehow lose Aki, too.
Aki is tired of hiding his feelings for Tamotsu. Tamotsu is the one person who truly knows and appreciates the real Aki for who he is on the inside. He’s ready to tell his best friend he loves him and wants to be with him forever, but will Tamotsu be able to accept his true feelings for him?
I loved this book! BUT…UGH… I hated for it to end! Although Aki’s Love Song was wonderful, I really hate that this wasn’t one of Sedonia’s longer novels. Both Aki and Tamotsu were fabulous heroes and I loved the history and the deep bond they had between them. I thoroughly enjoyed the small glimpse I got to read in their amazing lives and I pine for more about them.

Katt is going to be a very hard book to review and rate. I actually finished this book a couple of days ago, and I wanted to step back from it for a while so I could gather my thoughts together for this review. Honestly, I still have conflicting opinions when I think about this book.
If you are looking for a light read, Shattered Glass is not the book for you. It deals with some heavy issues that we all can relate to a rock and roll lifestyle and much more. There is drug and alcohol abuse, verbal abuse, physical abuse, characters dealing with death of their parents at a young age, an attempted suicide and a rape. I admit, I cried several times throughout this book. It definitely pulled at my heartstrings, and there were several times I had to take a break from reading the book for a few moments and then come back to it later.
Please don’t get me wrong, this book is a very good book. Even though one of the characters, Liam, goes through so much in his young life, I really rallied behind him and was in awe of his inner strength and the self discovery and growth that he goes through. Although this book is really about all of the band members of Shattered Glass, in my opinion, it was Liam that captured my heart in the novel.
Liam is just six years old when he meets Milo and Sam. Liam’s father had just died in a horrible accident and he and his mother, Lily, had just moved into the same neighborhood that Milo and Sam live in. After befriending Liam’s mother, Milo immediately takes the young and effeminate Liam under his wing even though he’s six years older than him.
As the years go by, Milo continues to look out and protect the young Liam. When Milo, Sam and Sam’s younger brother Rick decide to form a band six years later, they have a hard time finding a lead singer. Liam convinces the boys to let him try out, and once Milo and the other band members hear Liam’s beautiful voice, Shattered Glass is born.
As the next few years pass, several things happen. Liam’s mother, Lily, gets terminal cancer and signs guardianship of Liam under Milo’s care. As Milo and Liam become more attached to one another, Milo starts to feel guilty because of his deep love and attraction to the younger Liam, so he had sex with every female groupie he comes across. To make matters worse, Milo is firmly in the closet and has no intentions of ever leaving it. Milo’s father hated homosexuals and because of the venom his father would spew about them, Milo has learned to live in fear of being true about his sexuality to others.
Finally, when Liam is about to turn eighteen, Milo decides to tell Liam how he feels about him. Liam, of course, is thrilled that Milo wants him as much as he wants Milo. They wait until Liam’s eighteenth birthday, and they make love for the first time. Although they live together and have a relationship, they still are in the closet to everyone who is outside of the band. Milo’s fear of what others will think of his sexuality taints the love he and Liam have for each other.
As the years go by, a band member does everything he can to sabotage their relationship. Finally, lack of communication and hurt feelings, break Milo and Liam apart and this also breaks the band apart, too. Now years later, Milo and Liam must meet again to help a fellow band member out. Will they ever be able to find their way back together again?
Believe me; I left a lot out of the story. I didn’t want to get into it my summary too much, because I don’t want to give anything away. I will say that Liam goes through hell and back in his book. At one point, I wondered how much more could he take? I felt such empathy for him and rallied behind him to come out stronger in the end. Thankfully, he does, and I ended up rejoicing at Liam’s sheer will and perseverance to survive and become a better and stronger man than he was before the horrible breakup with Milo.
I had some issues with Milo. At the beginning of the book, Milo is very mature for his age. I was happy that he took Liam under his wing. I really liked him and Liam together as lovers and friends. There were times their relationship was very tender and sweet and I loved it. But, Milo has a temper and is one to jump to conclusions. Often, his actions cause him to cut off his nose to spite his face. He too, does a lot of personal growth throughout the book, but I’m not sure if he will ever look at Liam as an equal. Because he had protected him all those years, and because of the six year age difference, Milo is pretty dominating over Liam and I don’t know if that dynamic of their relationship will ever really change between them.
Even though this book is a rollercoaster ride of happiness and tons of angst, I still enjoyed reading it. The brotherly love that most of the band has for one another was very poignant and sweet at times. I enjoyed watching every character in the book grow up and evolve into the people they became.
Also, before each chapter there is a verse or two of the band’s songs. Some of the songs were truly beautiful and they definitely captured the love Milo and Liam had between them. These songs read as lovely as any poem. I really loved them.
I’m going to recommend this book because it’s extremely well written. I know because of the drugs, rape and other heavy subject manner, that this book isn’t going to be for everyone. That’s a shame, because it definitely caught my attention and has held onto it. Even now, days later, the characters and their story (especially Liam) weigh heavily on my mind.
When you are in the mood for heavy angst, complex characters and to read about a love that is strong enough to preserver through many of life’s ups and downs; this book is definitely for you.

Ever since the first book, Roughstock: Blind Ride, I’ve been hooked on B.A. Tortuga’s cowboys. So it was really a no-brainer when I noticed that this book was available to review. Ever since Beau and Sam’s appearance in the beginning of the series, I’ve wondered about Beau, the sexy Cajun bullrider, and when I saw that the third book, Roughstock: File Gumbo Season One, was about him and his lover, Sam, I knew I was in for a real treat indeed!
Two-time Bullriding champion, Beau Lafitte is having one of the best seasons of his career. He’s well on his way to win the championship for the third year in a row, making him highly respected bullrider by his peers and a favorite among rodeo fans. For years, he and fellow bullrider, Sam Bell, have been partners. Although, they don’t openly flaunt their relationship to the other cowboys, they don’t try to hide their feelings for one another either. The one thing that Beau has always been able to rely on, is the strong bond he and Sam have for one another, but lately Sam’s attitude is starting to change and this worries Beau.
While Beau is having his best season, Sam is having his worst. Not only is he not winning, he’s been injured several times and is starting to believe that his heart isn’t in it like it used to be. He’s getting tired of living off the road, and longs for them to retire and live happily together on their little farm. To make matters worse, some of the other cowboys are starting to make negative comments about his poor performances and have seriously implied that Sam is riding on Beau’s coattails. Unfortunately for both men, this is starting to put a strain on the foundation that the men have built together. When Sam is seriously injured at the end of the season, Beau must make a hard decision about their careers and their future together.
I loved this book! The intense feelings and bond that Beau and Sam share together was very apparent throughout the book. I adored that Beau and Sam were determined to work through any obstacles that are thrown their way. Not once, did I doubt the dedication and love they feel for one another. Even though they had their conflicts, I understood where both men were coming from, and rooted for them to work out the hard feelings and continued to rejoice in the love that the men have for one another.
Another great thing about this book was the secondary characters. The book starts close to the end of the second book, Roughstock: And a Smile Season 1, so it was really a pleasure to get to revisit the other main characters from the previous books as well. The strong bond of friendship that these men share between them is truly amazing. Not only do they look out for one another, but the obvious friendly affection they have between all of them is really refreshing to read.
It’s also obvious that B.A. Tortuga really knows a lot about the hard life of a rodeo cowboy. This makes the book read realistic, and the descriptions that are written made me feel like I was in the arena with them. Plus the easy writing style and fast paced storyline made this a very quick read. There is plenty of action, just enough angst and tons of hot sex written in this book and all of the books written in this series before it. I also want to point out that even though the main cast of characters in this series are homosexual, they seem to live by the ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ code, and keep the true nature of their relationship more on the down low. This is tragic, but certainly understandable. I’ve noticed that as the series has progressed, they are starting to reveal the true nature of their relationships to their close friends. It’s been really great to see the main couples start to be more openly affectionate with one another, at least within the small circle of friends. There were several times I found myself laughing out loud at some of the dialog and camaraderie between the men and I teared up a few times as well.
I do think Roughstock: File Gumbo Season 1 could be read as a stand alone book, BUT I do recommend that the books are read in order to understand the dynamics between the cast of characters. Plus, once you’ve read this book, you’ll be hooked, and want to read the first two anyway.
There are three core books in this series: Roughstock: Blind Ride Season 1, Roughstock: And a Smile Season 1 and Roughstock: File Gumbo Season 1. Plus, there are other small shorts that have been published about these characters as well. I just looked at the author’s website and I’m so excited to read that BA’s got Season 2 in the works and should be published later on this year!

I was immediately captivated by the two heroes in this book. Not only were they both interesting, intelligent and sexy, there were many twists and surprising turns in the plot itself that kept me up half the night reading it!
Aislinn is an immortal that lives on another realm. He’s been a dream spinner for thousands of years. As a dream spinner he weaves tapestries that define important aspects of mortal lives. He was once upbeat and his tapestries showed a lot of love and happiness woven on them, but once he lost his true love, Kian, he’s now more cynical and the tapestries he weaves are more solemn and darker.
Aislinn has had several promotions as a dream spinner. When he is asked by the king to weave a certain tapestry, he’s surprised he’s given such a request. But, Aislinn does his duty and soon gets caught up in the preparation and weaving of the tapestry itself. He doesn’t really pay attention to what he’s woven until he hangs it up in the Hallway of Dreams. To Aislinn’s horror, it’s a scene of him with a mortal man. Since immortals and mortals are forbidden to be woven together, Aislinn is arrested and soon given the punishment of living a mortal life, and straightening out the mess he made when he wove the tapestry.
Keith Wilcox has had reoccurring dreams for some time. Most of the dreams are war filled and violent, but lately he’s been dreaming of a beautiful man who he knows he’s in love with. Confused by these dreams, he seeks help from his twin sister, Sarah. When she tells him she believes that it’s could be a memory from a past life, he scoffs at the idea…after all, he’s just a boring teacher with an uneventful life, right? But, when he sees the beautiful man of his dreams on a school trip to a museum, Keith is not only drawn to the man, he senses that they have a deeper connection between them as well.
As Keith and Aislinn try to fight the connection they have together, but with fate and the fact that someone is suddenly out to kill Keith, soon make both of them realize they work better together than separate. The more the men are around each other, the more Keith remembers his past life with Aislinn. But, just as Keith is starting to really remember the love and devotion he had for Aislinn, he remembers a betrayal from those he loved the most as well.
Will Aislinn and Keith solve the mystery of Keith’s death? Will both men be able to put past hurts aside and take another chance on the love and happiness they deserve?
I really loved this book. I wouldn’t say that it’s a light read. I was glad that I was able to read the book uninterrupted so I could catch all of the clues and interesting twists as the love story of Aislinn and Keith unfold. I want to point out that even though there is a lot of information given in his book, I did not feel bogged down by it. It’s easy to follow along, and honestly Kian’s (Keith) killer took me by surprise.
This book is very well paced. It moves very smoothly, and the sexual tension and emotional buildup between Aislinn and Keith kept me glued to my computer screen. I found both Aislinn and Keith to be fascinating men, and I easily rallied behind their relationship. There were times I wanted Keith to not be so hard on Aislinn, but the gradual buildup of their relationship was part of the books charm.
I plan on reading more by this author. I really liked her style of writing and I appreciated the way both Aislinn and Keith evolve as the book progresses. I thought Tapestry For Love was extremely well written and I look forward to reading more books by her. I was captivated with both heroes from the first page and I happily read the book through to the last page without interruption.
Lord Northrup, Earl of Stafford or Peter to his close friends has lived a somewhat cynical and colorless existence. As a young man he’d wished to find his own Prince Charming. But, as he’s gotten older, he’s given up finding true love and actually being able to live in happiness and harmony with another man. Because his attraction to other men is taboo within polite society, he must pick and trust his friends wisely. Like himself, most of his friends have two different lives they live; one they show to the ton… and the life they really live away from the glitz and gossipmongers of polite society.
When Peter gets an invitation to one of Edward and Euphemia Pratt’s erotic parties, he of course knows he must go. The Pratt’s parties are known to be one long erotic weekend of nothing but sex and debauchery. Peter arrives late at the Pratt’s home and shows himself to a room that he’s always given to stay in. When he sees a younger, handsome man in his bed, he immediately believes that the sexy man is a gift for him from the Pratts. But, once the young man gets over his initial shock, Peter quickly realizes that he’s been mistaken on which weekend the party is to be given, and that the sweet man is really just a friend of the Pratt’s son.
Stephen Peregrine comes from a very humble home. His father grew up penniless, but has built his successful business from the ground up, and he expects Stephen to follow in his footsteps. Stephen attends Cambridge and is grateful for the mini-reprieve he’s been given from having to do his duty at home and with the family business. When his best friend, Brian Pratt, invited him to his parent’s house for the weekend, Stephen was glad to have the break. Little did he know that night he would have a sexy, handsome man visit his bedchamber and give him the reality of the forbidden dreams he’s always wanted…to have another man make love with him and hold him in his arms.
Even though Peter had mistakenly entered Stephen’s bedchamber, they end up having a steamy night of passion and tenderness. Peter is immediately captivated by the young and naïve Stephen, but knows he must try to keep the man at arms length or he could easily lose his heart to the gorgeous man. He makes himself have a somewhat blasé attitude about their night together and leaves the young man behind without looking back. But, Peter knows that somehow Stephen has melted the ice that has been surrounding his heart for all of his adult life.
Now months later, Peter is unable to get Stephen out of his mind. When he runs into him again, he knows must set out to amend the drift he’s made between them and trust the affection and budding love they have with each other. Will Stephen forgive Peter’s past callous attitude and build a future for them together?
I loved this book! I admit that reading a historically set gay romance is a tricky sell for me. Since homosexual relationships were taboo and even illegal back then, it’s difficult to believe the heroes truly are able to achieve a happy ending together. I’m delighted to say that I loved the ending to Seducing Stephen, and I thought it was very believable, too.
The characterization in this book is amazing. Not only were Peter and Stephen well rounded characters, both of them evolved and changed into happier, more well balanced people as the book progressed. They really bring out the best in each other. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them change before my eyes, and I rejoiced when they were able to find a way to not only accept and support one another for who they are, but also was able to find their happy ending together.
If you’re looking for a fresh and past-paced homoerotic romance, this book is definitely for you! I’m happily putting Seducing Stephen on my keeper shelf, where I’ll get to enjoy their story again and again for many years to come! I’m looking forward to reading many more books by these authors and I hope they co-write another book together really soon.

I was immediately captivated by both of the main characters and the sweet and loving relationship that develops between them as the novel progressed. Tynde is the second son of a King. At his home planet Alaquis, and because he is the second son, and that he has some special gifts, he’s been expected to become a priest and become a seer to the noble royalty. Tynde has accepted his fate for years. He’s a sweet, intelligent and gentle man who spends most of his time reading and preparing himself for his destiny in the Priory.
When Tynde’s older brother, and the future King is kidnapped, Tynde is shocked when he is commanded by his father to travel to Kion, where his older brother is suspected of being taken there. Tynde does as his father asks, but he knows he is way out of his element. The two planets are nothing alike, and Tynde is not used to the culture and rather fierce people who live there. Even Tynde’s smaller stature and dark good looks is a rare commodity there. When Tynde literally runs into the gorgeous and wealthy, Koss, he’s immediately taken under Koss’ care.
Koss can’t believe his good fortune to meet such a man like Tynde. His utter innocence and sweet nature immediately captivate Koss and he knows in his heart that Tynde is the man for him. Koss claims Tynde as his Kundi, and literally sweeps the naïve and innocent Tynde off of his feet.
But, Tynde and others believe that he is destined for the Priory. Will Koss be able to convince Tynde to decide what’s best for himself or will be forced to join the order and miss out on the once in a lifetime love that’s been given to him. Will Koss and Tynde be able to find Tynde’s lost brother…and does his brother really want to be found?
I loved this book! I thought that Koss’ stubborn and patiently dominant nature was perfect for the sweet and submissive Tynde. As a well-matched pair, it was wonderful to watch them fall in love and nurture the feelings that blossomed between them. Koss is very sweet and loving with Tynde. Even though his guidance has a tendency to overwhelm the sheltered Tynde, Koss is always loving, patient and is very supportive of Tynde and his special gifts.
I can’t wait until the sequel is released! Although the book ended on a happy note, there are many unanswered questions that will hopefully be answered in the second book. It will be interesting to see what will happen when Tynde’s father, the King, finds out about Tynde’s choice to stay with Koss, and there is the unanswered mystery about what happened to his brother.

Not only has his parents practically disowned him; his friends from his hometown have turned their backs on him too. Since Milo is only eighteen, he’s trying to save some money so he can attend college and have the independent life that he craves. He’s working full shifts as a waiter, and living with his older brother, Dante.
One afternoon, Milo spots an older, handsome man sitting alone at the restaurant he works at. When one of his fellow co-workers notices Milo’s attraction to the handsome customer, he dares Milo to approach the man and ask him out. Since Milo thinks he doesn’t have anything to lose, he approaches the attractive man and fumbles badly by giving the man a terrible come on line. The man looks insulted, gives Milo a few choice words, and leaves without a second glance. Milo feels not only humiliated for being turned down, he’s disappointed as well.
As soon as Milo gets off of work, he knows he needs to do something to get his mind off of being rejected. Since one of his friends work at a local hotel, Milo’s friend allows him to swim in the pool at night. Milo knows this will be a great way for him to blow off some steam and hopefully help him forget the handsome man at the restaurant. Milo is in the middle of swimming some laps when someone else gets into the pool with him. To his utter disbelief, it is the gorgeous man who shot him down at the restaurant just hours before, and it looks like the older man has changed his mind about Milo’s earlier proposition.
Campbell “Cam” Brooks is just in town for a few days. When he realizes the hot young man in the pool is the same one that approached him at the restaurant, it doesn’t take a lot of persuasion for him to change his mind about hooking up with Milo. Cam has no intention of getting serious with anyone; especially with a man who is eight years younger than he is. But, as Cam and Milo start spending time together they both realize that they have more in common than they thought, and there is something very special growing between them.
But, between money issues, fear of commitment, the age difference and being in a long distance relationship make both Cam and Milo realize that there are many obstacles that can keep them from having a relationship together. As both men work through their own set of insecurities and issues, they have to decide if having that once in a lifetime love, is truly worth all the hard work and taking a chance for after all.
I loved this book! Milo does a lot of growing up in this book. In the beginning of the book he was a semi-immature eighteen year old, but as the story progressed; his character slowly evolves to a more mature and well balanced character. At first, I wasn’t sure about Milo being with the older and more mature Cam, but the sexual chemistry and the emotional pull they had between them, soon made me see that they not only brought out the best in one another, I felt they truly belonged together as well.
Ms. Young is a master at writing erotic moments between her characters. Not only are the sex scenes intense and beautifully written, the emotional bond between Milo and Cam jumped off of the pages and into my heart. I soon found myself rallying behind both Milo and Cam, and I rejoiced when they found the happiness they deserve to have together.
Reckless Heart is the fourth book in the ‘Reckless’ series. I think this book can easily be read as a stand alone if you haven’t read the entire series. I do recommend that the series be read because all of the main characters do play a part in the final book, and the series itself is truly an amazing one. Even though I was ecstatic that all of the characters in the “Reckless” series had such a solid and happy ending in the epilogue, it was also a little bittersweet for me too. I truly hated to say goodbye all of the characters I’ve grown rather fond of, and to see this wonderful series come to an end.

The storyline moved along quite quickly and smoothly. Once I started The Replacement Guitarist, I couldn’t put it down. This is the first book I’ve read written by her, and it won’t be the last.
When Blaze Shinozuka was asked to audition to win the honored position as the lead guitarist for the spoiled and very famous singer, Cassie, he thought he’d hit the jackpot. Blaze is comfortable with the knowledge that he’s a talented musician. As a recent musical college graduate, music has been pretty much been the focus of his young life. In many ways, Blaze is quite naïve. Although he’s learned to stand up for some of the things he’s believed in, he’s basically lived a pretty sheltered life.
Blaze has never had a relationship before. Although Blaze has been attracted to both sexes, he’s never felt an emotional/physical pull of intense chemistry with anyone he’s ever met before. So, when he goes to the audition and meets Cassie’s manager, Jason Stockton, he immediately overwhelmed by the intense attraction between them.
Jason Stockton has been cleaning up Cassie’s messes for her entire career. She’s been notorious about sleeping with her lead guitarists. Her love ‘em and leave ‘em attitude has once again gotten Jason auditioning for a replacement guitarist. The moment that Blaze Shinozuka walks in the door Jason is not only floored by the sheer talent the younger man has, but there is an attraction between them that seems to be calling to his heart.
As the men become aquainted and fall into a tentative relationship, there are misunderstandings and people who are working against them being together. Plus, with Jason’s issues of being scorned by a lover in a past and Blaze’s fear of coming out to his family as having a man for a lover, they must learn to trust in each other and the love that develops between them.
I really liked this book. The physical chemistry between Blaze and Jason was scorching hot. Plus, I also really enjoyed how in many ways Jason and Blaze are polar opposites of each other. Jason is older and more conservative, while Blaze is young and more carefree. I definitely appreciated that although they almost fall in love at first sight, they have to truly work to make their relationship succeed.
When I finished this book, I felt like this was just the beginning of their story and possible life together. There are many unresolved issues between them. Plus, with Blaze being young and inexperienced I wonder if that will be a problem for them in the future. There are times he has fantasies about women and I admit that bothered me a little. Don’t get me wrong, the book ends happily, but I’m not sold that they truly have a future together. I have a feeling that they will still have a long road ahead of them.

I wJet Mykles is the queen of the “gay for you” storyline. Jet seems to be able to break all boundaries when it comes to love and sexual orientation. I was excited when I got to read and review the book, Just for you. Jet once again proves that she is definitely at the top of her game by convincing me as a reader, that one of the main characters who has been heterosexual all of his life, suddenly become attracted to and fall in love with another man.
When Justin Tolliver spotted the most beautiful man he’d ever seen on the sidewalk, he knew it was love at first sight. He immediately runs over to the man and introduces himself to this ‘Prince Charming’ with the hope that his gorgeous prince will be gay and attracted to him, too. When his ‘Prince’ just gapes in shock at him, Justin knows his overstepped himself, and tells the gorgeous man to look him up at his clothing store. He reluctantly leaves the stunned man behind, with the feeling that he just walked away from something special.
Kevin Fuller thought it was going to be just another day when this tall, pretty man suddenly walks up to him and tells Kevin that he’s the man of his dreams. Kevin had been so shocked he didn’t have time to respond to the bold man; before he was whisked away leaving Kevin standing on the sidewalk wondering if it was all a dream. Besides who immediately falls in lust/love over boring a computer geek?
When Kevin’s supervisor has no intention of proposing Kevin’s newest program, he decides to take matters into his own hands. He knows that both of the companies big wigs, Greg and Victor, are gay and hang out at an exclusive gay nightclub. Suddenly Kevin remembers the stunning man that had approached him on the sidewalk earlier, and he devises a plan to bring his own date to the club and single the two men out.
Justin couldn’t be happier when Kevin appears unexpectedly at his shop. When Kevin takes him to lunch and tells Justin his scheme to pretend that they are dating so this will make it easier to approach his bosses, Justin easily decides to go along with the plan. To Justin, it’s a win-win situation. Not only does he get to go to an exclusive nightclub, but he gets to hang out with his dream man as well.
As the men embark on getting Kevin noticed by the big wigs, both Justin and Kevin start feeling more than admiration and attraction to each other. Kevin is confused by his feelings for Justin, but the more he’s around him, the more he starts falling for him. Just as Kevin and Justin start giving into the intensity of their feelings for one another, one of Kevin’s bosses decides he wants Justin for himself. Will Kevin fight for the love of his life and possibly lose his job in the process, or will he walk away from the greatest love he’s ever known?
I read this book in one setting. I loved all of the characters, even Victor Chen who is determined to wedge himself in Justin’s life. It was easy to understand why Kevin could fall so easily for Justin. Not only is Justin stunningly gorgeous, but he’s smart, funny, kind and has a zest for life that most of us would give our right arm for. Even Kevin is attractive and very well matched for the fun loving Justin. I liked that there was more to meet the eye with both characters, and even though each hero was able to see each other, flaws and all, they still were able to recognize the very special, true love that they had together.
Lets not forget about the hot sex between Kevin and Justin. Whew! At one point I had to get up and turn on my ceiling fan. The sexual chemistry between Kevin and Justin was through the roof!

As a proud dog lover, I admit that the blurb immediately caught my attention and I knew I had to read it. I’m very glad that not only have I been introduced to a new author for me and I also got to enjoy a very sweet romance, too.
Rick makes no bones about the fact that he hates dogs. His dying father’s last wish was for Rick to take care of his old Shetland Sheepdog, Jack. This was a hard wish for Rick to grant. Not only did Rick have an estranged relationship with his father, there were many times it was obvious that Rick’s father preferred Jack’s company over being with his own family. But, Rick is determined to at least try to fulfill his father’s wish and agrees to take the old dog in.
As soon as he takes Jack in, Rick immediately has problems. For one thing, his apartments have a “no pets” clause and the dog doesn’t seem to like him very much. But, as time goes by, both Rick and Jack start to bond and soon Jack becomes essential in Rick’s life.
When Mike arrived at his vet’s office one Saturday morning and saw a handsome man weeping in his car, he knew he had to see if he could help him out. After some compassion and careful prompting, Mike finds out that the young man is named Rick and he’s had his old sheltie Jack for three years. Unfortunately, Jack is suffering and in pain, and Rick is having a hard time making the decision to put him down.
After a long heart to heart, Mike does a very noble thing and helps Rick out. In the process of the bittersweet introduction they become friends. Mike offers to help Rick deal with the loss of his pet and encourages him to come to an animal park so his heart can heal, and not only find love again with a new pet, but with Mike as well.
First I would like to say that for a short story, this book really packed a lot of punch. I admit I didn’t like Rick at first. I thought he was quite self centered and kind of acted like a cold fish for the first few pages, but as his relationship with Jack developed, I saw the warm and sweet man that was locked inside of Rick from being hurt and rejected so much in his past. I liked how Rick’s character really evolved throughout the novel and I really enjoyed the bond that he and Jack learned to share between them.
Even Mike was a great character. His willingness to help a stranger out during one of the most difficult decisions he has ever had and to also reach out and help Rick deal with the loss of Jack was very sweet and noble. I liked both of the heroes in this book, I just wish it hadn’t ended so soon.
This book made me cry, and there is definitely a bittersweet quality about the story, but I really enjoyed it. I do think I need to point out that even though it has a very sweet and satisfying ending, it ends at what is the beginning of Mike and Rick’s budding relationship. I also would like to say that there is no sex between the characters. If someone wanted to try reading a gay romance, this would be a good book to start off with.

But, one of my favorite things about her writing is her versatility to tell many different types of stories. The great thing about reading a book written by Shawn is that you never know what you’re going to get. I honestly can’t decide if I prefer her lighter, sweeter stories or her angsty dramatic ones. One of the best things about Shawn’s books is that there is something for everyone’s taste.
Patrick has been living with the burden of a guilty conscience. Ever since his lover committed suicide three years ago, he’s been plagued with the guilt over his death and the events that led up to it.
But, that’s not Patrick’s only problem.
He’s also been in love with his childhood friend, Josh, who also happens to be his ex-lover’s cousin. Every year on the eve of his ex-lover’s death, Patrick finds himself at Josh’s bar and gets rip roaring drunk because it was always a safe place to hang out and remember the good times they all shared together.
Josh has watched Patrick grieve for three years and he’s had enough of it. Josh knows it’s time for Patrick to stop feeling guilty over his cousins suicide, and rejoin the land of the living again…after Patrick’s yearly drunken ritual of course.
Josh takes the drunken Patrick home and they end up in a passionate embrace. This brings the feelings they have for one another to the surface. Will they be able to work through fear and guilty feelings and trust in the love that they have for each other?
I love Shawn’s heroes. Even though they are always very sexy and unique they all have a quality of being humanly flawed. Watching Josh work through his fear of commitment and his feeling of betrayal by Patrick (read the book) rang very true to life for me. Patrick’s unrequited feelings for Josh and the guilt he felt for having them made my heart break for him. I understood why he felt guilty over his ex-lover’s death, and I was glad to see both heroes work through their own issues so they could find the happy ending they deserve.
I loved this book! I loved the sexy bar scene, (again, read the book) and I loved Josh and Patrick. Pieces definitely has earned a permanent spot on my keeper shelf and I’m really looking forward to reading it over and over for many years to come. ...more

I liked Nash. He was a loveable character and easy to identify with. I did have some issues with Tyler. I liked him. He had a lot to deal with in a short time. Death of his best friend, injured while on duty, discharge from the Marines and so on. I understood his hesitation to be openly gay, but I'm wasn't totally sold that he was suddenly comfortable with coming out and I'm not really sure he was truly in love with Nash. They had some definite chemistry together and Tyler and Nash had obvious affection for one another, but I wonder if they really will live HEA?
I thought the secondary character, Colby, stole the show. The blonde HIMBO has a lot more going for him than meets the eye. I'm looking forward to reading his story and finding out how Tyler and Nash continue to build on their relationship.
