Both characters must deal with a variety of emotions. Grief, anger, fear, love and happiness. Watching Vance and Dillon's relationship blossom from friends to lovers was a very enjoyable read to say the least.
Dillon has watched his handsome neighbor, Vance, and his boyfriend live their lives from his window next door. For the past six months Dillon has been infatuated with the handsome and successful Vance. He feels like a pervert for watching their most intimate moments, but his longing for Vance keeps his eyes glued to the window.
Dillon is a successful business. He runs a delivery service he has put all of his sweat, time and money into to have the more comfortable living he has. But, with this he has had to sacrifice his personal life to an extent. He is more introverted, but charming and when he sets his mind to something, he goes for it with full gusto.
When it is brought to his attention that a package was not able to be delivered to Vance's boyfriend at another address, Dillon suspects Vance and his boyfriend has broken up. Thinking that this might be the best opportunity to approach Vance and at least strike up a friendship with the man of his dreams, Dillon sets out to return the undeliverable package to him.
Vance is recovering from a bad breakup. One moment he is happy with Jake his boyfriend, and the next Jake is moving to California for a new job, without Vance. Stunned and going through the motions he misses Jake, but is determined to try to get himself together and back on his feel again.
When Dillon appears on his doorstep with a package Vance had sent to Dillon in his hands, Vance feels an immediate bond with him. Although he knows it is too soon to be involved with someone, he is drawn to Dillons honesty (Dillon tells him about him watching him) and his quiet strength. They form an immediate friendship and fight the attraction they feel for one another until they feel the moment is right.
I really won't go into the story much more, I am just touching the very tip of it actually. This story has a good mystery, some sweet romance, hot sex and voyeurism and both characters get some very good advice from a wise old man that changes their lives together. I would like to say that one thing I really liked about this book was Vance doesn't recover from the breakup with Jake quickly. He has to go through a grieving period and Dillon was patient enough to help him work through it. Loved it.

Historical romances are my first love. I read nothing but this genre for many, many years. I don't read this genre as much now. I don't know if I gotHistorical romances are my first love. I read nothing but this genre for many, many years. I don't read this genre as much now. I don't know if I got burned out on them or what, but after I read "Duke's Project" it made me want to look into reading more of this genre I have ignored for the past couple of years.
Dani just wants a better life for herself and her self appointed guardians. Practically living off of the streets of London, she has witnessed many horrible things in her young life. Although she is street wise, she has an innocent and naive quality about her that makes others want to protect her. When she stumbles upon a dead body of an oblivious weathy male, she realizes that this is her opportunity to maybe make a few bucks and some warm food in her belly for her and her friends. She sets out to find out who the deceased man was so she can give his wealthy family some information, even if it is made up, so hopefully they will reward her with some money and maybe a hot meal.
Simon Thorndike, The Duke of Stratford has a reputation of being kind, loyal and fair. Determined to find out who is the killer of his cousin Douglas, he is surprised when Dani shows up on his doorstep insisting she has information about his cousin's murder. His first instinct is to throw her back on the streets where she came from, but as Dani stubbornly refuses to leave until she is heard, he starts seeing her for more than the dirty, uneducated person his first impression had given him. He decides to have her cleaned up and dressed in some of his sister's clothing so he can hear what she has to say, even though he really doesn't think she knows anything that will help him find his cousin's killer.
Seeing Dani cleaned up, and talking with her Simon begins to realise there more to Dani that meets the eye. Not only does he find himself atracted to her, but decides to take her under his wing. No matter what his family or friends might think.
Dani has never met anyone like Simon before. Not only is the most handsome man she has ever met, but one of the kindest. She can't believe that he wants to help her better herself and her situtation. Even with the oblivious lies she has told, Simon doesn't try to humilate her, instead he offers a friendship and a life that she never thought she would be a part of.
Simon is truly a wonderful hero! He has so many redeeming qualities that is attractive in a man. I immediately liked him and I thought that his adventure and romance with Dani made this such an enjoyable read for me. Simon definately rates up as one of my al time favorite heroes. Sexy, Smart, Strong-willed, Loyal and a little Alpha and Beta mixed together makes him the perfect hero! Plus, the chemistry between Simon and Dani was enough to steam up the windows in the house! Even though they came from such different lives, they find a common ground and become a strong, loving couple. I really enjoyed watching their relationship bloom and turn into a beautiful romance.
I loved this book, and I am really looking forward to reading the next book, Duke Pretender soon! If you are looking for a great historical romance with some interesting characters, a fast-paced storyline with mystery and adventure with a great love story, this book is definately for you!...more

There were many simularities between Cory and Jet's character in the movie. When I read the book I even envisioned Cory looking like a younger Jet, so that was an added bonus for me.
When Michael Antonio was younger, he fought in the underground fight clubs and was quite successful at it. Now he owns his own gym, and has been glad to have gotten away from that violent, often deadly occupation. When his shady friend asks for a favor to help him be a bouncer at one of these fights, he reluctantly does so.
Despite Michael's size and prize fighting reputation, he has a very soft heart. He has worked hard to get his business off the ground to be a success, and he is a very fair and loyal man.
When Michael sees "The Chow" for the first time he is shocked. Not only is The Chow the most beautiful man he has laid eyes on, but the sadness and lost look in his eyes pulls on Michael's heartstrings. When Michael notices that Chow has a collar around his neck and is being led by a chain like a dog, he is appalled. As Michael and Chow notice one another for the first time, Michael feels a connection with him he has never felt before. After he watches Chow easily win his match, he watches Chow get leashed by his collar again, and led off like some animal.
Try as he might, Michael cannot get Chow off of his mind. In his heart he knows he must see him again, so he volunteers to work the next fight. When he runs into Chow again, he is once again being led around by his "master" and is unable to make any decisions for himself. There is something in Chow's eyes that make Michael realize that he has a death wish, and has given up hope. Michael becomes afraid that Chow will throw his next fight and force his own death.
During the fight, Michael causes all hell to break loose. During the confusion and fighting, he grabs Chow and makes a run for it. He takes him to his loft above his gym and starts healing Chow of past abuses and shows him how compassion, friendship and love is.
Cory Chow has been a fighter and a sex slave practically all of his life. Despite his past, Cory is a very sweet soul and has an innocence that is truly endearing to others. His ability to give into Michael and learn to trust and love was very touching at times. Because of his neglect and abuse he is often confused by Michael's love and affection, but because of his sweetness he willingly gives his heart and soul to Michael without hesitation.
But, Corey's master is looking for his slave and Michael knows he must do what he can to keep Corey safe and in his life forever.
I loved the characters in this book. Both Michael and Corey were not only interesting, their lovestory was not only sweet but a beautiful thing to watch develop. ...more

The characters are written with such emotional depth, how could a person not love it? I went through a number of emotions myself when I read this book. There were bittersweet moments, happy moments, tearful moments, angry moments and it ended on a very sweet and uplifting note. It just doesn't get much better than that.
As many of you know, I am NOT a menage reader. There has to be a very good explaination and storyline for me to like the book. I want to point out that the menage is not the focal point in the storyline, but in ways was very necessary between the participants. I won't get into it because you have to read it yourself. BUT, I understood why it happened, and most likely not happen again. There was much healing involved with the characters, so it did not take away from the story for me whatsoever.
Jamie and Rafe have been like brothers practically all of their lives. When Rafe's terminally ill mother leaves him with Jamie's family, Rafe is made to feel unwanted and uncared for by Jamie's father. Rafe has had intentions of leaving, but cannot find himself to leave Jamie until he turns 18 (Rafe is 2 years older than Jamie is) and graduates from high school. Both men have a deep attraction and intense feelings for one another that they have not acted upon or talked about. When Jamie realizes that Rafe is intending to leave, he sets out to make his feelings known, but too much to drink and fear of rejection keeps him from acting out on all of his feelings for his friend.
When Jamie awakens from passing out, Rafe is gone. After a troubling reunion 3 years later, they part again, and not on the best of terms.
Jamie has many responsibilties on his shoulders. When his cold hearted, bitter father dies, Jamie is saddled with the ranch and the obligation to make it successful. Over time, he turns from a happy go lucky boy to a bitter and unhappy man. As much as he tries get his feelings for Rafe out of his system, he cannot. This leaves him lonely and closed off in some ways.
Rafe has had his own string of bad luck. He is a one hit wonder country singer, who has been practically kicked out of the industry. Penniless and alone, he decides to chance it and return home to try to start anew. He knows that Jamie will not be overjoyed with seeing him, but hopes that he will give him a second chance at having a home and starting over.
When Rafe returns, Jamie is confused and angry with all of the feelings he has for Rafe. Rafe in return knows he in many ways does not deserve Jamie's love and friendship, but the more he is around Jamie, the more his feelings are rekindled and his attraction grows.
Watching Jamie and Rafe work through their pain and fear and finally come together was a beautiful thing. Both Jamie and Rafe are strong male characters that are worn but not broken. I loved the way their relationship didn't change over night. It was a more realistic portrayal of two people finding forgiveness, trust, friendship and love together. I thought it was very well paced and the book kept me on edge until the end.

From the main heroes to the secondary and light third story characters storyline. This book had a lot going on in it. There is alot of emotionally charged dialog, funny moments, sexy moments and downright romantic moments in it. Since this is exactly the kind of book that I enjoy reading, I hated to see it end.
All of the characters had depth to them. I honestly didn't know that this is a sequel to another book (the seven year itch) which admittedly I haven't read. I usually like to read my books in order, but I got so caught up with the characters and storyline, I didn't want to stop reading it. From what I can tell the first book will have a menage scene in it...I don't like menage books, but I will give it a try because I cared about the characters and this book was good enough for me to try it out.
Blake Talbot has had a very difficult couple of years. He is feeling much guilt over his best friend, Charlie's death (you have to read the book to find out what happened) and has been clinically depressed for some time. He has even attempted to take his own life, but with medication and therapy, he is starting to feel more normal again. Charlie had reserved a 2 week stay at a dude ranch for Blake and his fraternity brothers before the accident. Determined to go, Blake and his friends make the trip to Montana to experience life as a cowboy.
Kris Killborn can't believe his bad luck. One of the remaining band members quit his band causing him to put his dream of being a musician on hold. Knowing that he has no income coming in, when he finds out that his friends at the Lazy C ranch are looking for some help, so he applies and gets the job.
Both Blake and Kris get more than they bargain for on this 2 week vacation. From the moment Blake and Kris meet there is an attraction there that will not be denied. Since they both have some emotional baggage to work through, it is not easy for them to take a chance on love and each other.
I loved watching both Blake and Kris's character develop throughout the book. Watching them come together was almost like an addiction. I couldn't stop reading until I finished the book. I really enjoyed the backstories almost as much as I did the romance between them. I really liked this book. Since this is the first time I have read this author, my plan is to be reading more of her books and hopefully they will be as satisfying as this one.

Especially when the characters don't have good chemistry together and the plot isn't well thought out. Unfortunately for me, Light My Fire was like that for me. What's frusterating about this book is it had alot of promise in the beginning, but as the story continued the plot became almost confusing and there was too many loopholes in the storyline itself. Maybe if the book had been longer and possibly more thought out, the book would have been better. Plus, the lack of emotional connection between Craig and Steven left me hanging. Craig is a cowboy demon hunter. When he meets Steven, Steven had just been tortured by demons. Steven is a bloody mess and his penis had almost been casterated. Thinking he is dead, Craig calls the authorities, only to see that Steven is alive and something has been shoved up into his penis. It is during this time that Craig and Steven make a mental telapathic connection and Craig saves Steven's life. Steven is able to get rehabilitated (his penis was re-attached and works fine) but doesn't think much of himself. He is a male-prostitute who blows any money he makes on booze and partying. But, with the trama he has survived, he decides to change his life. When Craig comes to visit him, they discover that their telepathic bond still exist. Craid still believes that Steven's life is in trouble, and he is the key to defeating the demons and running them out of town. The lack of chemistry between Craig and Steven turned be off. The sex scenes are forced and the emotional connection wasn't there. What a shame because each character within itself was pretty interesting, but not enough for me to ever re-read this book or suggest it to any of my friends here.

Casey has moved to Italy to start her life over. She married her high school sweetheart and tragically became a widow 2 short years ago. Her husband's loss had nearly drove her over the edge, but she fought back, and decided to attend Art School at a very pretentious Art Academy in Italy. When an old friend asks Casey to interview the hottest soccer star, Alessandro Sottini, she reluctantly agrees. Knowing nothing about soccer and very little Italian, she is just hoping to not look like a fool. Alessandro is immediately taken with Casey. Her beauty and spitfire personality intrigues him. He sets out to seduce her, but is afraid that his less than partying lifestyle will soon bore her. He tries to patiently woo her, and take her romantic places, in hopes that Casey will one day give him her heart and build a life with him. My problem was Casey's abrupt change. One moment she is the grieving widow, the next she is all over Alessandro even though she had insisted on him taking things slowly. She definately puts him through her flightiness (is that a word?) One moment she wants him...the next she is scared...the next she wants him...the next she is guiltly and breaks up with him...etc. Alessandro was definately an interesting hero. He is kind, very famous, sexy and has more patience than Casey deserved. I really liked him and he himself was worth reading the book for. I really enjoyed the May/December storyline, and her characters were very likeable and interesting. This book is a novella (about 87 pages long) so I understand the storyline has to move along quickly, but it did feel a little rushed to me. The main characters make life changing decisions within days of meeting one another. I would have liked for them to have been friends more before they immediately fall for one another, but it was still a good story and I still really enjoyed reading it. Trace left the family ranch years ago. Not wanting to feel repressed for his preference for men, he packed his things and left for the city. He never told his straight laced father he was gay and the only person in his family who knows of his homosexuality is his sister. When he gets news that his father has had a major heart attack, he returns home only to find that many things has changed. The new foreman, Nash literally takes Trace's breath away with his intense masculinity and his marboro man looks. Although, Trace senses an interest when Nash looks at him, he believes he is just wishful thinking...after all no one in po-dunk U.S.A is gay but him, right? Nash can't believe his eyes when he meets Trace for the first time. The younger man is everything Nash has always wanted...from the way Trace dresses, carries himself and his self confidence makes Nash very attracted to Trace. But, Nash and Trace must face many obstacles and their own fear of getting hurt to be together. Are there feelings strong enough to make a go of the life they long to have together? As I stated before I really enjoyed this story. I liked the secondary characters and the feeling of a family reunited after spending years apart. Vince Dawson is down on his luck. Barely surviving a scandal of olympic sized proportions, he has hung up his whistle as a professional diving coach. He spends his days sitting by the public pool, looking for any talent that might revive his career and his faith in his abilities to coach and to get out of the rut he has put himself in.
When he notices a young man betting his diving against cigarettes and beer he isn't too impressed. But, when the young man lands complicated dive after dive beautifully, he gets a gut feeling that this young man can be a star, and Vince can take him to stardom.
Austin Brody is a hardworker and a determined young man. He knows his diving is good, but when Vince approaches him and starts to discuss Austin training for the Olympics, he doesn't know what to think. But, the more Vince talks he convinces Austin to uproot his life, and start training full time.
What I liked about Vince and Austin is their like and respect for one another. Austin thrives under Vince's guidance, and soon his doing more and more complicated, professional dives perfectly. They work hard together, sacrifice much, and soon the attraction they feel for one another is undeniable, so when they do act upon their feelings for one another they find a love that neither one expects.
I loved this book! Not only does it have funny moments, but is also has emotional depth to the storyline and characters that I have come to expect out of Sean Michael's work.

For one thAs a general rule, I am not a big fan of Menage books. There are very few that I have liked and would consider a part of my "keeper shelf". For one thing, I have to believe that there is some kind of reasonable explaination for a couple to consider inviting another person into their bedroom. In my opinion, there should always be an emotional element to it too. The characters must care enough about one another to make it work and last...after all, it's just not all about the sex act in general for me. Having said this, I really enjoyed A Knight For All. I was hesitant to buy it at first, but because I really like Shawn's other books...I figured I would bite the bullet and give this one a try. I am glad I did. Edward and Gregory have been friends for years. Practically growing up together, they have experienced many joys and heartaches together. So it was only natural for them to expand their relationship to a physical one. Since homosexual acts and love is forbidden, they have always had to hide their affection and lust from one another. As time went by, both had other goals for their lives. Edward has always wanted a family, whereas Gregory wanted adventure. When Edward met Katherine, a beautiful widow, he was immediately smitten with her. Soon they fell in love with one another, but there was something always missing in their relationship. Katherine is definately a woman ahead of her time. Her relationship with her first husband was very unique (you'll have to read it to see what I am talking about) and she is very open minded about much in life. She is a woman who loves with her whole heart, and wants her husband to be as happy as possible, not just content within their marriage. She has suspected that there was more to Edward and Gregory's relationship that meets the eye. So to give Edward the best birthday present he has ever had, she comes up with an idea...an idea that she hopes will change their lives forever. I really enjoyed this book and although it's a short story, the storyline, pacing and character development was well written and I thoroughly liked it. Austin Green hasn't been home in eleven years. When he was eighteen he was practically disowned by his father for being a homosexual. Determined to make something of himself, he joined the military and is now a successful businessman. When he was invited to attend his little sister's wedding (she has always kept in contact with him...irregardless of their father's wishes) he is determined to face the possible wrath of his father's low opinion of him.
Deciding to keep his head up, he is on his way to the rehearsal dinner when he sees a sexy older man waiting my the elevator. Immediately attracted to him, Austin strikes up a conversation, and soon realizes that the sexy man is his soon to be brother in law's father. When they establish that they are both availale and very attracted to one another, the sparks fly off the pages.
Tony Rumalati can't believe his good fortune. Meeting Austin is like a dream come true. He is everything Tony has ever wanted in partner. Sexy, smart and has a wicked sense of humor that Tony is very attracted to. As a successful man himself, Tony has everything he has ever wanted, but a partner that will share his life with him.
It is definately love at first sight for Austin and Tony. I loved the May/December storylines...it is definately one of my favorites. Tony immediately takes Austin under his wing, and looks out for his feelings and well-being throughout the novel. I liked how they took up for one another, weren't ashamed for their budding relationship and fit together like two peas in a pod.
Austin and Tony have their problems they must face before they can start their life together. Will they be able to overcome prejudice and some self doubts to find a life-long with each other?
