I just think that the level of the story is perhaps too juvenile for kids who are actually working on writing stories. (less)

It is nice and cute, and I'd reccomend it, but I'm not sure if I'd read it out loud for storytime, it kind of drags. (less)

Even though Pug in this book could be my Oscar, except Oscar is WAY cuter and not a pug, and would be irrationally attracted to any small creature around him. Ok TMI about my dogs, anyway this is a cute story about a Chick who heads off to find adventure like those she reads about and finds a pug, who she thinks is the hero of her/his (can't remember) favorite adventures. But he isn't, instead he is lazy and doesn't do much, so chick has to find its own adventure.(less)

Even though it is a "happy" book, it still makes me tear up. Really, it is just thinking of my dogs in their previous homes and wondering how anyone could give up such wonderful dogs. I guess I should just consider myself lucky to have them.(less)

There was no hissing or scratching or barking anywhere in this story, so maybe it isn't too realistic. (less)

I have a poodle mix, and she is no simpering show dog, but is athletic and likes to run around and jumps like a spring. I wish this book had a middle road between being a prancing show dog and being a filthy homeless dog. Kirkus(less)

I can only ask why they write books like this, and why we end up with them here. Honestly, this is a strange and unappealing book, that not only is confusingly illustrated, but also has little plot or interest. It is literally about a girl who finds a nose, there is no question of why or how one looses a nose, or how icky it would be to find a nose, just that she will be helpful and return it. (less)

Unfortunately, she doesn't want pretty much every type of dog, or at least things that characterize every type of dog at some point. It would be hard to find a dog that has never jumped on a person, drooled, needed a bath, or ran around. Frankly, she doesn't want a posh dog, she wants a pound puppy toy. I was disappointed, considering how much I have enjoyed Emma Dodd's other works.(less)
