So do all the ones around me, so I have to read them online, or make do with what I have.
Thank Talos that my libraries had this one! I bet if I looked hard enough, I could find an online version of this, but c’mon, reading physical manga is fun! I really am disappointed that I couldn’t read Hetalia physically, because it is so fun to read but that’s another review.
Light is sort of the anti-hero, as is L, the detective. It’s kind of hard to know whether you like Light, even though he’s the “hero”. Though I detest him, in a moral way, at the same time, I want him to succeed.
The physiological aspect of this made me enjoy it that much more. Of course, the first book isn’t the best (I’ve heard Volume Seven is), but it’s close to perfect.
Characters: Light is brilliant and realistic. Without spoiling anything, the notebook changes Light, or perhaps, he was always like this. He was creepy cool (as my little brother loves to say).
L We don’t really know too much about him, but he was quite mysterious all the same.
Ryuk was a-w-e-s-o-m-e. Awesome. Absolutely positively.
His artwork has beautifully terrifying. Beautiful. Even if you aren’t going to read it, google/bing/search Ryuk Death Note. Do it. I dare you. O.O
When reading, I felt that the art felt similar. Few days later, I found out that one of my first (and still one of my favorite) manga, Hikaru No Go was by the same illustrator: Takeshi Obata. That made me feel really stupid
Plot: I love the Shinigami! They look so amazing. The plot was really cool! I can’t find anyway it could be better. Actually, I can.
The G8 Summits (Group of 8 meetings) can become tedious at times and I find myself not bothering to read them. I tend to have low patience when it comes to manga, and I skim more often.
What I liked/disliked: I loved the volume, except for the occasional G8 moments (not all of them though). I really can’t find to many complaints on the book. Super happy I picked it up.
In conclusion: I recommend this to newcomers, old timers, and the occasional manga person; like me. I am looking foward to the next volumes!
Favorite Character: Ryuk or Light Favorite Quote:
“I AM RIGHTEOUS!! I’m the hero who’s liberating people from fear. I’m the savior who’s going to be like a god of this perfect new world! Those who try to fight me… THEY’RE the evil ones!!”
