Catherine's characters tug at your heartstrings right from the first page, compelling you to follow their story and champion each of them along their journeys - of which I could relate to more than one. The setting of Sonoma in California is a delight, and makes you wish Maoilios was a real vineyard you could visit and enjoy. Top marks from me - I very much look forward to reading the next Catherine West novel!...more

From the very first chapter Allie and Jackson's story had me hooked. With wit, charm, warmth, and an endearing cast of supporting characters, CLOSE TO YOU showcases not only New Zealand and it's enduring connection to LORD OF THE RINGS and THE HOBBIT, but how second chances are always possible, and that God's plans are better than our own. Smouldering chemistry between Allie and Jackson had me on the edge of my seat wondering when they would get their act together and stop letting the past dictate their future. I for one fell in love with the characters in this book and am very much hoping many of them will make cameo appearances in future novels because I really want to know how they're getting on!

Engaging characters are brought to life amidst a captivating storyline which is finely balanced with vivid descriptions of setting and scene, so that the story plays out in your mind's eye like a beloved classic movie. And as for that twist in the tale - I never saw it coming!
Seamus and Sophie are well suited not only as love interests, but as good friends. Their decision to unite in matrimony, even if only seemingly for convenience, couldn't come soon enough. Lily Cate steals the reader's heart as the young daughter in need of a mother's love and care. Myrtilla and Jenny also intrigued me as well, as an integral part of life on the plantation. I find myself hoping Lily Cate appears in some future novel from the pen of Laura Frantz - maybe even Jenny along with her.
All-in-all, this is a story I will treasure reading more than once. It's a keeper :-)
In a world where importance is placed on fame, fortune, and beauty, being blessed with these qualities should make life easy. Or so we think. But forIn a world where importance is placed on fame, fortune, and beauty, being blessed with these qualities should make life easy. Or so we think. But for Ellie Paxton, being beautiful can be a two-edged sword. While it makes some doors open easier for her, she never knows if the people she meets only like her for how she looks, or for who she really is – including fellow Christians.
Nathaniel, on the other hand, has money problems. Or rather, his problem is with having money. His family name is synonymous with fortune, so it’s easier to go by a pseudonym so no-one knows who he really is. That way, he is accepted for who he is, rather than who he is related to. Ellie struggles to know if Nathaniel loves her for who she is, not just how she looks, while Nathaniel is reluctant to let Ellie know who he really is. Can they have a future together if they can’t get past their own handicaps?
“Too Pretty” takes us behind the scenes of the rich and beautiful, showing us that such qualities don’t necessarily make life easier – just more complicated, and how having good character is far more attractive and of great worth. Filled with an endearing cast of characters and a charming romance, “Too Pretty” will appeal to fans of Becky Wade, Melissa Tagg, Susan May Warren, Beth K. Vogt, and Australia’s own Narelle Atkins.

Another wonderful story from the pen of Hannah Alexander, with an endearing ensemble cast and idyllic setting that begs for more stories to be told.
