The myth of Persephone has always enthralled me and is one of my absolute favorite Greek myths, so when I found out that one of my favorite authors, Meg Cabot, who I LOVE to death (heehee... no pun intended), was writing a re-telling of it, I knew I was going to be in for a treat. So it was no surprise that Abandon, the first book in the trilogy had me jumping up and down and smiling like a lunatic as soon as I finished it. And Underworld left me feeling the exact same way... giddy and yearning for more.
And for those of y'all that haven't read Abandon or Underworld (WHY?!) then pick it up! Especially if you are a fan of Greek myths, like moi.
Pierce is back... but this time, she isn't dead. She finds herself in the Underworld, with her 'captor' , John Hayden, aka The Lord of the Underworld. He has kidnapped her again, to keep her safe from the Furies. Guys, let me just say that I love John. Like, seriously love him. There is something so dark and dangerous, yet innocent and lovable about him. And although he isn't without flaws (but then, who is?), his imperfections are what make him perfect to me.
Pierce is such a great character as well. She is adorable, funny, sweet and caring - what is not to love about her? And even though she makes mistakes, she always tries to fix them, and I respect that. She is definitely one of my favorite heroines!
In Underworld, Meg Cabot re-imagines and modernizes the dark myth of Persephone and fills it with charm, wit, and humor, alongside a hot lord of the Underworld and a kick-ass heroine. ...more

Perfect Escape is touching, heartwarming, and poignant... I LOVED Jennifer Brown’s latest novel! It actually brought tears to my eyes... but in the best way possible. After reading this, I felt sad, happy and really grateful that I was privileged enough to read this amazing novel before it is released. Thank you, Jennifer! <3
It’s a story about siblings, and family -the best kind!- and how no matter what happens, they are always going to be there for you. It made me feel oh so thankful and happy to have my family here and present... there were times when I felt like running up to my mom and giving her a big hug for no reason!! Perfect Escape really makes you appreciate everything - from being able to go to sleep without worrying about cockroages, to just having your brother or sister safe and happy with you!! :’)
I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters as well! They were all really relatable and so different and complex. Especially Kendra, who I personally found to be very relatable. She makes mistakes, and in the beginning she was always trying to please everyone, and she was running away from all of her missteps and failures, but towards the end she started to realize that sometimes, you just have to face your mistakes, and also, that sometimes, the person you have been looking for has been there all along... right by your side. She’s a bit of an overachiever, which I TOTALLY get, and she’s always trying to make up for her brother, which definitely adds to the stress and kind of pushes her over the edge. Her character definitely hit home, for me. I guess everyone makes mistakes, and finds it hard to own up to them, and at times it seems like it's the end of the world, just like Kendra, so I think (and hope!) that everyone will love her just as much as I did and will feel a strong connection with her.
And Grayson. Oh, Grayson. He kind of scared me at times! And, I really pitied Kendra at times for having to live with him, even though I know that’s mean. I mean, imagine living and spending your whole childhood with a perfectly normal, capable, sweet and smart brother, but then having to watch his OCD change him into a completely different and scary person?? The flashbacks that Brown put into the book of when Grayson was ‘normal’ completely broke my heart!! I wanted that little boy back... not only for Kendra, but for myself!! Although, I have to admit... Grayson REALLY surprised me in the end! He showed a side of himself that I never really knew was there anymore. But that’s all I can say about the ending, cause I don’t want to give anything away to you guys!!
I got to watch both Kendra and Grayson grow and change in their own ways, and face their own challenges- mental and physical- along the course of the novel, and it really was such a magical thing, getting to know these wonderful characters. The journey was a long one, and I honestly had no clue how it would end. Would they make it to California, or would they turn around and start heading home? Would their parents find them??? But, the wait was definitely worth it, and after it was over I was one sloppy, tearful bundle of happiness. Weird, I know!
Perfect Escape was one very long, messy, and beautiful road trip, full of laughs, tears, and sibling rivalry and love. I loved it, and I can’t wait for all of y’all to read it, because I’m sure that you’ll absolutely love and adore it too!! :’)

First of all, let me just say, the cover. Holy macaroni, I love it!! It's perfect for Arise and Hereafter... so stunning and so beautiful.
Arise is the hauntingly beautiful sequel to Hereafter. Filled with an intense romance and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end, Arise will leave you breathless and wanting so much more.
Hereafter was honestly like no other ghost story I ever read, and I am just so thrilled that Arise was just as good, picking up from where Hereafter ended. There is so much more Joshua and tons of more sparks between the two star-crossed lovers.
But now there is also a little tension between them, as Amelia has started thinking about the future, and what it holds for the both of them. She doesn't want to hold Joshua back from his old friends... and she is even more worried about how long they will be able to keep this relationship up. While Joshua ages and grows old, Amelia will stay the same, thus creating a very Twilight-ish situation... only this time, the answer isn't as easy as one bite. But Joshua doesn't seem at all worried or nervous... and the fact that he is so oblivious and confident in their future together just makes Amelia feel even worse and more on edge.
To add to that, Amelia gets a warning that the Demons who took Eli to the Netherlands are now after her... determined to take her to the Netherlands and keep her there forever. She meets Joshua's seer relatives, who much to her shock can actually see her, and she starts feeling slightly normal. She also meets Alex, a quiet, mysterious, very powerful Seer who appears to be around every corner and promises Amelia comfort and help. But something about him seems... strange, and his presence always makes Amelia feel a little unsettled. She can't decide whether or not to trust him.
Desperate for answers, Amelia reaches out and finds fellow ghost, Gaby. They become friends against all odds and form an alliance against the Demons. Amelia starts feeling less ghostly and more... alive, as she spends more time with Gaby. But Joshua still presses on her mind, and as hard as she tries to leave him for his own good, she just can't.
Oh, Amelia. I feel for her, I really do. She's dead, there are vicious and determined Demons after her, and her relationship with Joshua isn't working... mostly because of the whole living/dead thing. Arise was such a roller-coaster ride! Packed with suspense and unexpected surprises around each corner, I couldn't put it down! And oh boy, I did not at all expect what happened in the end (well, maybe a little bit, but only because I highly suspect I'm psychic).
Anyway...if you are a fan of ghost stories or just love a great paranormal romance, you really should give Hereafter and Arise a go!
