I really needed this book and it came at just the right time.
Anna is packed off and sent to Paris to attend a posh school for rich Americans by her author father. She is lost, homesick and insecure due to the fact she doesn't speak a word off French. Cue the best crew of friends who take her under their wing and the omnigoshdarnit SUPER HOT, talented, funny guy Etienne St. Clair. Their friendship develops as he shows her the city lights of Paris, however times come when the must acknowledge where their relationship is heading and things get a bit messy. Girlfriends, best friends, ex's, potential boyfriends and girlfriends get in the mix and all turns a bit chaotic for Anna.
I do love YA fiction, but with so many i-am-in-love-with-a-hot-boy-who-doesnt-love-me-back story lines going around i was a bit skeptical in reading this. Boy was i mistaken! I was over half way through the book before I'd even realized I'd been reading for that long. It is totally engrossing, unputdownable, and best of a realistic! The author has got that first love feeling down to a pat, to the point I was giddy myself from reading about St. Clair (why is he not real?!). All the awkward situation Anna ends up in and how nervous she's feeling around him all the time really helps connect you in the moment.
The whole groups of friends were totally lovable- I adored Josh as a character and how he was there for Anna too.
If i could make one change it'd be to have a few chapters written from St. Clair's perspective as well. I would LOVE to know what he was thinking all those long metro rides to Ellies and back, not to mention during their sleepovers!
