The colour combination and the choice of the picture with the 3D effect will surely make you say WOW. A book that is actually inviting in every manner.
As you see I had already some notions in mind when I held the book for the first time. So when I began reading I was already expecting, perhaps a lot from the book.
The author does full justice to my expectations. Exemplarily research backed with fabulous narrative skills is how this book can be described. Having read the Mahabharata so many times since childhood there is a certain expectation when it comes to hearing this already told tale once again. And this author does full justice to the tale with no place where he seems to be challenging my beliefs and faith rather; he makes it stronger by giving adequate reasons behind the same.
I would recommend this to everyone who enjoys such genres and also to people who can read well researched topics with ample history behind them. Not for people who like light reads.(less)

Bilal Tanveer’s book touched me emotionally making me upset for some time while this book was a refreshing change.
It made me laugh, smirk and giggle as I kept turning page after page drowning myself into a book which is the perfect mixture of Bridget Jones Diary and The Diary of a Social Butterfly! It made me see a Karachi which was way different than the one I had seen in the previous book.
And for sure I was smiling just the way I did when I had read Desperate in Dubai. As a woman there is a level at which I connect with such stories, a part of me which agrees to all that is being written and smiles on seeing the various dissimilar similarities (if there is any word like that!!)

I don’t watch TV and whatever little I do, I am only on UTV Bindass. It somehow connects with me at a level where no other channel has been till now.

It tempted me as it seemed to be the most unheard of all things and yet the most wanted to hear thing.
In this book the author, Juhi Pande has talked about the most obvious things in life and most of the time the most neglected as well – relationships. We, having lived in Indian society are so used to not discussing things like love and relationships openly with parents. And perhaps that is where the author drew inspiration for the title.
She has dealt with the subject so beautifully and without sounding preachy. That is exactly where the beauty of this book lies. The simplicity and easy-to-understand language used connects a reader more to this book.
I loved reading it for it felt as if a girl friend of mine was having a conversation with me, sharing her experiences. Never for once did I feel that it is getting a bit too preachy and boring. It was heart to heart. I believe this is how self help books should be actually as you are supposed to help someone and not bombard with your sense of knowledge. Simplicity is the key and the author works on it perfectly.
Some points made me smile, some made me laugh crazily while some made my eyes moist as I thought of those times when I done those mistakes. An excellent book, for all those people like me who wear their hearts on their sleeves all the while. (less)

I know someone very closely who suffers from this disease and to say I have witnessed his descent into blindness would not be wrong. But the author’s strength and firm determination moved me beyond words.
It is said that God doesn’t give you troubles without giving you the ability to face them and I strongly believe in that. But at times when you independence is challenged that is something we all are not able to deal with easily. It takes a lot of firm determination and zeal to convert that weakness into strength and work towards making it stronger with the passage of each day.
With every page that I read of this book I did not have pity for the writer, rather I had respect and admiration for that person who can easily be called inspiration for so many people around the world. I can easily compare him to Helen Keller for she overcame her disability and carved a niche for herself in a very unique way.
When God takes away something from you, He replaces its loss by giving you something else in abundance and that is exactly what we need to remember in life. This book is a wonderful reminder of how we should fight the problems life sends us with a smile so much so that even life is left with no other choice but to smile at us.
The author has kept the narrative very simple yet engaging making the reader enjoy his story and connect with it very strongly. There are places where I cried with him, not for his pain but for the helplessness I felt at that moment and that I believe is the brilliance of a writer to write something so touching!
I would strongly recommend this book to each one out there simply for the brilliance in the topic it has been written on. It is a life changing book.(less)

The moment I saw the praises heaped on this book I knew I had to read this one for one it was a collection of short stories and secondly the recognition was tempting enough. And I was not disappointed at all.
15 stories. Each unique and beautiful in its own complete self. Not only shows the writers brilliance at handling things but also the ease with which she has dealt with some very sensitive topics. The simplicity in the narrative leave behind a profound effect on the reader long after one has finished reading the book. She has really raised the bar high for short stories and I really look forward to other books from the author.
I recommend this book to each and every literature lover. This book is a sure treasure for every one’s collection. Not only to be read but also re-read again and again for it is like old wine, that gets better and better every time!(less)

All this took a very different form in the corporate world not to forget the increase in the rape cases around the country.
Every day as I read about them in the newspaper I feel scared though I am black belt in self defense but somehow it all feels inadequate suddenly.
The moment I saw this book it reminded me of the times when I had learnt such tricks that would help me safe guard myself whenever need be. The beauty of this book is its simplicity and the photographs which help you understand the positions and actions that need to be taken.
An out and out informative book completely and a must read for every woman in today’s times to keep herself updated about all that she needs to know and not know too!(less)
