I kept goi...moreMy mom handed this to me to read, sounding like she was recommending it a lot. I started into it, and didn't really like it from the start. I kept going on the off chance that it got better, that the characters sucked less, or something good would happen, like one of the sucky main characters might die! The only character I liked at all was Applecore, and she didn't get as much credit or time in the forefront as she really should have, however given what I thought of the rest of the book, it is quite possible that the author would manage to ruin her too, had he focused on her more.
At any rate, the political overtones seemed heavy handed, and forced. All the characters except Applecore failed to gain my sympathies or affection, and the ending just left me thinking "Why did I waste my time on this?" When I brought all this up to my mom once I finally finished slogging through it, she admitted she considered it a light read, and didn't realize I would be so offended by it.(less)
