MY THOUGHTS One year after her death, Breezy wakes up and digs out of her own grave. She doesn't remember how she died and she has no idea why she alive again. What she does know is killers. She's now able to tell who has murders someone and she has the ability to quickly kill them. Traveling away from her home, Breezy soon finds out that there others out there who aren't quite human and a cult intent and ridding the world of them.
I didn't know what to expect from this book, besides some creepiness. I make it a rule not to read the synopsis of a book right before reading the book, since sometimes spoilers are included. I thought that the beginning was very interesting. I was expecting the book to be about Breezy killing various murderers. As weird as it sounds, I though that was pretty darn interesting. I was thrown when the cult was thrown in and then the book felt less creepy dead girl thriller, but weird paranormal. For some reason, the introduction of other paranormals didn't do it for me. I later grew to like it and found a lot of it interesting, but it took a bit for me to get used to the new topic.
As for writing, Kali Wallace is a wonderful writer. I liked how the story moved and how there were flashbacks intertwined within the story. This wasn't really a mystery, but there was a mystery underneath about what happened to Breezy and I liked how that flowed. And as weird and dark as the story was, I did like it.
Breezy as a character was hard to connect to. Partly because she's dead and doesn't remember what happened to her. She can also easily kill people. You know, not really something you can easily relate to. She also felt oddly older, which shouldn't be the case. She's dead, not an immortal being that has lived centuries. Another thing I would like to mention is that Breezy is bisexual. What I liked about that in this book was that it was never made a big deal of, it just was.
IN CONCLUSION Overall, I did like this book. It wasn't what I expected, but it was a very interesting and dark read. This book won't become a favorite of mine, but Kali Wallace can definitely write and if she writes any more YA, I will pick it up. If you're a fan of dark, paranormal reads that are definitely strange....more
MY THOUGHTS I liked the first book in this series, but I had mixed feelings on it. I had issThis and other reviews can be found on The Psychotic Nerd
MY THOUGHTS I liked the first book in this series, but I had mixed feelings on it. I had issues with the visions and the overall fact that this it was not an Alice in Wonderland retelling like I was expecting. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first book!
This book is much darker than the previous book and I oddly liked it. Ali's now part of the zombie hunting team, though they are reluctant to have her fight, and she's now dating Cole. But things aren't so sunny in their relationship. Cole is being distant and Ali can't help but feel like he's keeping secrets. After a zombie attack, Ali begins to see sick and starts to hallucinate. Then, she begins having urges to hurt those she loves.
I admit that I'm still upset by the missed opportunity for an Alice retelling with zombies, but I'm getting over it. As I said, I enjoyed this so much more than the first book, mostly because of the darker themes. This book was so much more intense and very suspenseful. It was horrible seeing Ali go through this and never seems to go right for her in this book, but it was very interesting seeing her going through this. I must say, she's incredibly strong. I would never be able to go through that. Sorry, for being vague about what happens, but I don't want to spoil the whole book.
I think my main issue with this book is Cole. This book has no second book syndrome in the way of plot, but the relationship sure does. I notice that sequels often introduce major conflicts in the romantic relationship. A popular one is introducing an ex girlfriend, which happens in this one. As well as a distant boyfriend. Cole just really bothered me in this book. He was just plain distant with Ali and he was getting upset with Ali for having visions of another guy, despite the fact that she can't control that.
IN CONCLUSION This was a great sequel, despite my problems with Cole. This was so much better than the first book and I am very much looking forward to the next book!...more

But Megan doesn't want to be a settler. She wants to go to homecoming, be a cheerleader, be NORMAL. But when she gets threatening messages and there's outbreak of controlled zombie attacks Megan gets suspicious. Not only does it seem that the person behind these know WHAT she is, but they're also seem to be trying to stop her from going to homecoming... if only she could find a way to stop them.
WHAT I THOUGHT Oh Megan, you we annoying little character! Always thinking about homecoming or that hot guy when lives we at stake! You had your moments of stupidity too but you brought it together! You got me to ignore your annoying-ness and focus on the story which actually gave me a fun, entertaining, and quick read! Now, don't look down on me. You know it's true.
P.S. I am well aware of the crappiness that is my "review"...more

Things I didn't like: -The visions, there wasn't really a point to them. -The fact that it has nothing whatsoever to do with Alice in Wonderland which was a HUGE disappointment. Alice in Wonderland with ZOMBIES?! You gotta admit, that sounds awesome!
Altogether I give this book around 3.5 stars (might have been a 3 if it didn't mention The Iron Fey and it would have been a 1 if there was no Zombies!!!)...more

I was a very happy person!
But sadly, this book was a disappointment. It wasn't bad... It was just disappointing.
First off, Some parts of the book were confusing and random. There would be parts that make you wonder How in the world did that happen? Then those random parts seemed to be sprinkled all over the place and make you wonder What is the point of this book? But this wasn't the main problem that I had with the book, the main problem was Molly's voice. The easiest way to describe her voice is to say that it's a "Teenager Voice" Some of you might be thinking, "Well duh! She is a teenager!" But i'm talking about the stereotype voice, the ones you might hear in cartoons. And it actually made her sound like a 12 year old now that I think of it... That's weird coming from a teenager that often acts younger but in a serious situation I will act my age (maybe older) and there are many serious situations in this book. Yet, Molly still sounds 12...
