I am one of the most open-minded readers on the planet and I know it. But I just have to give only two stars to this book. I expected a lot from it but my expectations were really not met. To be honest, the story was very mediocre. It could have been much shorter. It could have worked more effectively if it was just a short story, not a novella. I thought it would be scary but it only made me feel a little creepy. It did not stir any emotions. It was a bland book for my taste. Although I would have to confess that I read and finished this book in just a little more than an hour. I just had to finish it in one sitting because I really want to know if there's something in this book that I could like. The Latin parts were interesting but to be honest, it really did not matter to me. Some of the characters are eccentric and a little disturbing but that's it. I was not impressed at all. Too bad. It could have been a better book. The story has lots of potential and the author could have made a more twisted and eerier horror novel than this.(less)

I love reading about demons, the Devil and the Inferno. I enjoy reading about sins, eternal punishment and basically anything diabolical. That is the reason why I have no hesitation to get this book as soon as I read its premise and summary.
I read this book with much excitement and much anticipation. I was not disappointed at all. From the first page, the story unfolded very easily. It is fast-paced for me and not at all boring. Victoria Wells, the main character, moved Heaven and Earth and went straight to the center of Hell itself just to save his husband who was tricked into giving up his immortal soul. I enjoyed how the author tackled this story. It is truly an exercise of a very creative mind. I could not put this book down. I am so eager to know everything that happened next. His descriptions of the novel’s conflicts, of Hell or the Lower Astral Plane, all details in the book are done so eloquently.
Despite the fantastic premise, I see this novel as a beautiful love story, a story of love so great that a person would go beyond what is expected in order to save her beloved. This novel put a smile on my face as I read because I cannot help but sympathize with Victoria Well’s position. I also have loved someone so much that I am sure that I would do anything for him. Giving any more details of what Victoria Wells had undergone in this very enjoyable novel will be sinful. I highly suggest that you should grab a copy yourself and find out! Truly this is a read that I cannot forget! I hope to read more works by this author!(less)

I truly enjoyed this twisted tome filled with pairings a normal person would never comprehend, much less imagine that they are true.
Two stories here are based from a couple of stories I told Erin. One is "Leech" and the other is "The Thief and the Carabao". The story "My Husky and I" is based on a sexual fantasy I have. So what else would I want with a book that explicitly says in the title that it is all about bizarre symptoms??? I learned a lot from here and discovered weird diseases. I am so loving this book. I just wished it could be longer and some really weird diseases could have been explained further. Sarsenet - A kind of very soft and fine silk. I chose this because it can also mean eloquence or skill with words. Which I would like to do with this book particularly. i want my poems to speak eloquently of taboo subjects, mix darkness with romance and eroticism.
Sarcophagus - you know what this means. But in Greek, it means flesh eater. Which is very symbolic for me. Plus, it is the shelter of corpses.
Basically, the title is very important with the whole concept of the book. (less)

What I really like about this is that is makes me think. It keeps me so entertained with its wittiness. Only a true and dedicated writer can do that. It takes a lot of smartness and intelligence to write a quirky but addictive novel as this. I am so getting a printed copy of this so I can relish this everywhere. Too bad it is unavailable in the Philippines so I may have to beg to strangers for money so I can buy this. But I do not care. It totally deserves a place in my bookshelf.
I hope I can write as good as this author. I want my readers to enjoy my book the same way I relished this profound work of literature.

I am in love with this book! I cannot comprehend how much I love this inanimate object. Maybe it is a form of necrophilia itself, loving a book made out of dead leaves and pulp. I cannot stop reading this book. Sometimes I force myself to literally stop this book from taking over my mind. I read this book like the Bible, only some parts at a time because I wanna savor everything it has to offer me. I have never loved a book like this. I always want to have some quiet time with this book and just read it, fantasizing about the necrophile thingies that it describe and just feel tremendous orgasms rippling all over my body. I think I am a certified necrophile and this book definitely fed my insanity and favorite fetish. I would love to meet Supervert, kiss him and let him do stuff on me because I simply love him so much. He actually sent me this book because I am such a desperate whore!
Anyway, just to give you an idea why I am so in love with this book, I am a frustrated necrophile. i love death and I find beauty in its gore and violence, and also in its peace and regal aura. I love being strange and weird but definitely, necrophilia is one of my most favorite secret joys in life. I do not do it per se, I just love reading about it and fantasizing of actually doing it for I do not think i can really do it in real life. I even made a whole book of necrophiliac poetry because I love it so much.
That is why reading this book is such a life-changing rare moments I have in my life. I am so thankful that someone with the intellect and enough twisted mind decided to write a gem like this!!! I feel so proud to have a copy because I do not think many people have this in my country. I think I am the only one, maybe. But what I am proud is I love it. I will continue to love it and will forever love it because literary-wise, the book is well-written! Very engaging, filled with with and humor and of course, creativity abounds. I cannot comprehend that a mind like this exist still! This is like a friendly 120 Days of Sodom.
