In my humble opinion, this is Alyson Noel’s best book to date. Ordinary people, every day lives. Not your typical soul searcher/seeker storyline. A page turner from start to finish, leaving you wanting more.
Daire is a jet setting teenager, thanks to her mother, Jennika, being a Hollywood make-up artist. But on her 16th birthday her whole life has been turned upside down, and now her mother and doctors believe her to be delusional, and suggest that she be institutionalized. As Jennika comes to her breaking point, she receives a phone call from Paloma, Daire’s Grandmother, who wants to take her under her wing. Daire is under the impression that she will cure her of these insane visions that haunt her. Her mother is left with no choice, either institutionalize her daughter or send her to her grandmother and hope for the best. So off Daire goes to Enchantment, New Mexico. The journey that Daire is about to embark on is extraordinary. A must read!
I would like to thank Eileen Rothschild at St. Martin’s Griffin and Alyson Noel for this Advance Reader’s Edition (ARE) of this book. I hope receive an ARE of the next book “Echo”, as I’m going to go bonkers waiting for it!”

I read all the books in three days, I just had to get to the next book to see what happened and before I knew it I had read all of them and wanted more. Nice easy read, fantastic characters. Not your typical vampire and werewolf story. Go grab the first book today, or better yet, get the whole set as you will want more!(less)

Now I'm looking forward to the 3rd book in the series, "The City of God". I received this book yesterday afternoon and finished it just now. How good is this book...let's see, I stayed up last night until I woke up with book in hand and glasses on, then I didn't want to take my son to swimming lessons so that I could finish it. Of course I did take him, but dived back into it when we returned home, that's how good it is. I couldn't/didn't want to put it down. Every adventure that Pallas has is so well told that you can see every character in your mind, at least I can. The new people in the book were fantastic and I hope to read more about them in the third book. I was in awe the entire time.
All I have to say is pick up the first book in this series, "The Gods Among Us" and then read this one. Thank you D.C. Belton for another amazing adventure and thank you to your daughters for putting up with your writing!

Born to their parents with normal eye color at birth, but every parent worries that they might change. Should their eyes change, they would have two different colors along with a special skill, or "grace" as it is called. If their eyes change, the Graced child is then taken from their parents and presented to the Kings nursery, where they would be cared for until their grace reveals itself. When the grace is revealed, the King will determine if he thinks the grace is useful or not for his court, if not,the child would then be returned to the parents. These gifts of grace can range anywhere from being able to hold their breath for an undetermined time, cooking, mind reading, or the grace of killing.
Katsa is a Graceling, graced with the art of killing. She has one blue eye, bluer than the sky and one green eye, greener than the grass, and all fear her. At the age of 8, Katsa accidentally killed her uncle with one hit to his nose. All she wanted to do was keep him and his wicked thoughts away from her.
Katsa lives with her Uncle, King Randa of the Middluns', and is his assassin, punisher, and protector. And so the story begins...
Now for my humble opinion...
Katsa: I have read some of the reviews on goodreads.com and amazon.com, and I was shocked at how others viewed Katsa. I saw Katsa as a girl of 18 who really didn't know much of anything, except how to kill, maim, or fight. She was never taught how to feel, love, or have womanly feelings, she didn't have friends because everyone feared her. Day after day all she did was train, and even then it was mostly with sacks of grain and such. At the age of 11 she was finally told things from Helda about the the body of a woman. No one would dare get close to her, except for a close few. How could she possibly want marriage or children? I wouldn't.
Prince Po: A humble Prince who is looking for his kidnapped Grandfather. Armed with a grace of his own, he sets out to find his Grandfather who is being held somewhere, for reasons unknown. I love his character as I'm sure you will too.
Bitterblue: A young Princess, who a lot of this story will revolve around. Many have criticized her character. At first you think nothing of her, but then you find that she has a very strong mind, is opinionated, and smart. Remember that she IS a Princess and that in those days, they were raised differently. So for you who criticized not only her name, but her character, shame on you. She is one of my most loved character's in this book.
Regarding the book itself, I love the story. Katsa grows and finds herself. I'm looking forward to the next book titled Fire, which I just purchased. I hope that it's better than this one. If so, I will fly through it within a day. I do hope it continues with Katsa & Po as well as introduce new characters. As for this book, if you can skip over some of the misspellings, grammar, errors and such (as I find in most books), you're well on your way to a good story and you'll want to buy the next book in the series as well.(less)

I didn't realize this was a short story and was sad that it was. With that being said, this is a short story you will not be disappointed. This is a great lead in to a series should the author decide to do that. This new and upcoming author will have you clicking (if you have an e-reader) or turning quickly for the next page, and then the next in this creepy, suspenseful, dark, story about a TV show.(less)

This book will tug at your heartstrings, make you laugh and cry. I read this before the movie came out and told every one I know about it. I was reluctant to watch the movie as the books are always better, and this was no different. Although they did a good job on the movie there was so much missing from it. If you saw the movie but didn't read the book, I highly suggest you read it! You won't be disappointed and more understanding of things that wasn't incorporated into the movie.(less)

In this third book there is so much going on, but each story intersects with everything so smoothly, you don't notice. It grabs you from the very beginning and doesn't let go. I started this book yesterday, went to bed reading it, and woke up, turned my kindle back on, re-adjusted my glasses, and kept reading. I read every chance I got and just finished it.
It's an exciting ride, filled with adventure, thrills, twists and turns, and so much more. I can't wait until the next book. I have read a few other reviews and they mentioned that this is the last one in the series, but is it? I guess only time will tell, but I hope not!
J.P. Ching is on my "Favorite Author" list for sure! Thank you for this wonderful adventure!!(less)

Clarity is your typical teenager, or so it seems. She actually has a lot more going on for herself than most, but doesn't see it. Then one day she spots this beautiful boy outside her classroom and a calm washes over her as never before. She has a wonderful boyfriend named Brenton, who I'm sure every girl wishes they had, great friends, and her future holds so much. Then one night her world changes forever, or does it? This is something that only she can decide. How will she choose? Do yourself a favor, get a copy of this book and find out. (less)
