It includes a huge cast of character’s who all have unique personalities. The relationships and interactions between the character’s are depicted extremely well. The positive and negative emotions are expressed clearly and you will be sure to find somebody to specifically relate to.
The atmosphere is palpable as you read from life on the plantation to being in the hold of a slave ship to mutiny, piracy and uninhabited islands. The pace is fast and flowing and will keep you reading from page to page. The author has obviously undertaken extensive research to make this work of fiction as authentic as possible, I loved this story and many of the character’s. In particular, I liked the way the character’s grew and changed as the story progressed.
A lot of the dialogue is written in a manner which expresses the character’s accent/dialect, this is a very difficult aspect of writing to pull off successfully but Holly achieved this with great overall effect to increase the impact of the novel on the reader.
I have no hesitation in giving this book a full 5-star rating.(less)

The story line carries you along easily and knits together perfectly. The humour in certain situations comes through clearly as does the fear, uncertainty, love, confusion, empathy, concern, friendship and passion.
Maxi Shelton has a gift for drawing character’s who come alive on the page even, minor character’s who don’t feature very much. As a reader you are drawn into the lives in the book and you really care about what happens to them all.
Unfortunately the book is very poorly proofread. It is riddled with errors throughout. This is a huge distraction whilst reading the novel and would lead to many people abandoning it through sheer frustration. This is a real shame as the plot and characters are great. Therefore despite the positives I can only give Living The Dream 3/5 stars.

It has a small cast of good character's to connect with as you read. It is an easy, fun read but just didn't grip me. I was never completely drawn in, I was definitely reading a book. I like it when I find a book that I can live through rather than just observe, whilst reading Evermore I felt like an outsider looking in. I probably will read the next book in the series and give Alyson Noel another chance as the first in a series is frequently not the best.
I was disappointed with the editing accuracy, I found four very clear errors that should not have slipped through the editing process and a number of other ambiguous passages and sentences with dual tense.

This book is fiction but the way in which Steven Manchester has written the whole book from the perspective of his main character, letting Don DiMarco tell his own story in a narrative style fools you int thinking that it is real. It reads like a memoir. I defy anybody not to identify with Don. Masterfully written. With twelve months to truly live Don shows us the true meaning of life through his love and compassion and words of wisdom liberally scattered throughout the narrative of his 'life'. From visits to the zoo, Barbados and Vietnam and from jigsaws to family meals you will travel with this character and learn from him as you go along. Don and the other character's in this book are all so real that you will fall in love with the whole family, you will forget it is a novel any you will laugh and cry along with them throughout Don's journey. This is one of the best books I have read in a long time and it deserves a much higher rating than I can give. A definite 5/5 stars. Please buy or borrow this book and read it with an open heart.(less)
