The Laundry was an orphanage, run by the Sisters of Mercy--although, you will discover when reading this story, that the sisters were not merciful to the orphans at all. The Laundry was an awful place where horrible things happened to the young girls.
At nineteen, Bitty has run away, believing that living on the streets is much better than staying at the Laundry. After having lived on the streets for about a year, an unusual happening takes place that puts her in the loving care of a family that we have met before in Emalyn's Treasure--Fiona and her son Percy. Fiona was the Lady Emalyn's housekeeper and now lives in the Swan House--the house that Emalyn left to Fiona when she joined Master Owen in eternal glory. Bitty learns to trust these people and loves them dearly. She witnesses magical things happen in the surrounding gardens with the most beautiful flowers and plants, and the pond with graceful swans and cygnets. A sweet romance blooms between Bitty and Percy and life is finally good to her. But there is one thing her heart still hopes for; after all those years she longs to find back her mother she has not seen since she was four.
This is a beautifully written story that will surely touch the reader's heart! Miss Davis' rich descriptions made me see the beautifully blooming gardens and I could almost smell the lavender in the rain. Readers who have enjoyed Emalyn's Treasure will certainly read The Transformation of Bitty Brown with equal pleasure!(less)

Kendig created some strong characters in this latest work and kept the tension high.
After a mission gone very wrong, the members of the Zulu Special Forces team, are sent back to the United States and must take on a new identity as their lives are in danger. However, after five years they are found out and uncovered. Two team members end up dead and one is in a life-threatening condition. The other women are brought to a safe house. While trying to figure out who is after them, they run into a new dangerous situation. Will they once again escape from their attacker’s hand?
As always, Kendig has written an ‘on the edge of my seat’ tale that kept me turning the pages. Can’t wait to see how the series continues! (less)

Hawk is sent on a quest to find the True Cross and all creatures from hell are trying to stop him and his companions from finding it. The spiritual warfare is strong as they fight demons and dragons and other supernatural beings. Trust in God for His help and direction is what they all depend on. When growing up, he was friends with Charlie—a slave on their plantation. Charlie has heard that the Union Army is taking on black soldiers, so he escapes from the plantation in hopes to join them. However, he is caught and Joseph is forced to whip the young man he grew up with. Joseph feels bad about it and afterwards, he helps Charlie to escape and they both join the Army; Joseph with the Confederates and Charlie with the Union. But then, after a couple of months, fate brings them face to face on the battlefield . . .
William Tasch has written an intriguing and believable tale in which he addresses a subject that I have always wondered about—What would a soldier have done when he met a friend or family member on the battlefield that fought for the other side? Personally, I can’t imagine the horror that must have gone through them when they recognized each other. Tasch has placed two old friends in this situation. How will things turn out?(less)

Our beloved characters are no longer young lovers and have children and grand-children, but their love for each other is still fiery. When visiting their family in Massachusetts, the American Revolution comes to their door and British soldiers attack members of the Daniels family. What is an Amish family to do in such a time? I was absolutely thrilled to meet again with Rose and Ethan of the bestseller “The Rose of Lancaster County” and I’m excited to see what new adventure the author will pen for the beautiful granddaughter that is named after her amazing grandmother.(less)

Together with his kitten, he is at Petersburg, shortly after the battle in the spring of 1864. The regiments have left and four wounded from the Irish Brigade are left behind to recover. Hoping to sell some of his goods to the young men, he finds himself giving away his help for free instead. The man called Tucker D is there for a reason; he is on a mission—and the reader will be surprised to find out what that mission is.
As always, Joy Ross Davis' beautiful writing style sucked me into the story and kept me reading . . . not stopping before it was finished. All along the story I was wondering—what unique twist has she given to this story? And I was surprised! People who like a touch of the paranormal to their reading will certainly enjoy this new short story by a talented writer!(less)

Lydia Beiler is Rose's best friend and together they are working on a lovely rose quilt. They often work in the rose garden where there's peace and joy while quilting in the fragrance of blooming roses. But their happiness will soon come to an end when Lydia is accused of witchcraft and taken to jail.
Ethan Daniels is everything Rose despises--he lives like a wild man in the woods and spends a lot of time hunting in the forest. A man like that has to be avoided by her people. But after he rescued Rose and Lydia from the wrath of some Englishers in town, Rose must admit to herself he is not so bad after all. Indeed, his beautiful poetic words leave her confused and blushing--confused because she has promised to marry a young Amish farmer soon. She cannot help but enjoy all the attention Ethan is giving her, but...he is not Amish and she cannot believe he will ever change his ways and join the Amish. When her Amish fiancé gives her an ultimatum, she must make a very difficult decision.
During Lydia's trial we witness a bit of how different court was handled in Colonial America. Rose speaks up for her friend and this is when the hatred of the English community shifts from Lydia to Rose. Soon Rose finds herself in trouble with no one to help her but God...
I enjoyed The Rose of Lancaster County immensely! What a fantastic story with great characters and...oh, the romance!! Mr. Pura knows what a woman wants in a romance story and he happily pens it down for us all to enjoy. I love how he captures female feelings like no other male author I have read. He is a master in spinning a captivating tale and this story is proof of that--he had me on the edge of my seat several times. What more can I say? From the beginning to the end - it is all Pura Enjoyment!(less)

On the day of Tabitha's 16th birthday her rumspringa starts. This is also the day she decides to take off on the back of a motorcycle with her Englisher friend Nick. Everyone expected them to come back by the end of the day, but they did not return. Tabitha and Nick want to explore America on a Harley. A journey that started out as the hunt for Tabitha becomes life changing for both Michal and Milwaukee. While they are following Tabitha's trail, they also take time to enjoy the beauty of America.
During their journey they meet several interesting people who will help them understand Tabitha and why she really left. They also help them to find their destiny in God. The closer they get to Tabitha the more they realize she might be in great danger. Will they ever catch up with her in time?
Wow, what a thrilling and fabulous book!--one of Murray Pura's best writings. I enjoyed this story immensely. There was a longing inside me to join Michal and Milwaukee on their road trip. How I would love to see all of the beauty they saw!
Yes, this book is about the Amish. No, you can't compare it with anything you have read before. Murray Pura is known for his intriguing stories and original plots. When you start reading his work you will be glued to the pages and forget everything around you! If I was not convinced before, I am now--Mr. Pura can write any genre and write it well! I honestly hope to see more contemporary books written by this brilliant author!(less)

Their husbands were brutally murdered by Ahab Hawthorne—a corrupt cattle baron who wants all the land in the county for himself. Two other widows; one from Ireland—Joyeux—and one from Australia—Noelle—also arrive in Cazadora and will soon meet the hatred that is lurking in town.
Nine gun-carrying preacher brothers on horseback come to Cazadora to plant a church, but they are opposed by Hawthorne and his men. It does not take long before the nine David brothers meet the five widows and romance starts to bloom. Shortly after the brothers arrive in town they run into trouble while trying to help a couple of the women. Thankfully another of their siblings shows up—their beautiful and dark haired sister, Tommy—who proves to be a great help.
While widows and preachers are working together to build a new church on Lazarus Top and a new ranch house for Marianne, Joyeux, and Noelle, hearts are beating faster with new budding love. Bad guys are still planning on bringing the widows and preachers down. But then danger comes from another corner . . . this may be an even bigger threat for the whole town. Widows, preachers, corrupt lawmen, Hawthorne, and homesteaders have no other choice than to join forces and try to ward off the unexpected assault. People are wounded and fear reigns – but despite all the danger love blooms.
Will love survive these hazardous times? Will good conquer evil? Will there be a new day for the town of Cazadora, or will it be wiped off the map for good?
I immensely enjoyed this story that takes place in the hot desert of New Mexico where the temperature rises a few degrees as widows and preachers enjoy some sweet and sweaty romance. But it’s not all sweet and romantic – the danger is real and people do get hurt.
This book contains several heart-stopping and heart-racing scenes, leaving you breathless. Also, it will certainly leave you satisfied after you have turned the last page! (less)
