Straddling The Line really has a mix of everything a sports romance reader loves. We get lots of field action, lots of smoking sex, and cocky sexy athletes all wrapped around an original yet beautiful love story.
Haven has been suffering the past year after the death of her father. She hasn’t been able to move on and get past her grief. She has landed the job of a lifetime as a sports journalist and doesn’t have the drive to peruse it. That is until her new assignment is to write up a bio piece on Trevor. She could never turn her back on him.
Trevor is an athlete in a rare category of playing two professional sports. He is a baseball superstar as well as a football star. He rarely gives out interviews, but as a favor to Haven’s mom he agrees to give Haven a chance to do this assignment. She tutored him in college and she wasn’t a stranger by any means.
Both Haven and Trevor have things they have to work through. She is struggling to move on from her grief, and fighting the attraction she feels for Trevor. Trevor is dedicated to be the best athlete he can be and remain in the elite category he has earned. He is hiding a huge secret and isn’t able to allow anyone to get close enough to him to uncover the truth. He also feels the pull towards Haven and is teetering on the brink of falling in love with her, but continually pushes her back to keep his secrets locked up tight.
Pushing Haven away proves harder to accomplish than Trevor thought. He is able to recognize his feelings and accept that he has some changes to make. I loved the way Haven realized she was going to fight for him and try to help him. They share some very deep, heartfelt moments on their journey to claim happiness and love.
As with all the books in this series, we get a lot of actual game time. Ms. Burton writes these scenes so well you really feel transported right into the game. I love the balance of sports action and romance action. It’s blended perfectly. There are some great stories up next in this series and I can’t wait!

I think this is definitely going to be a book you really like and enjoy, or you are going to hate it. As for me, I thought it was great. This was a total new style of book from what I am used to reading by Ms. Jewel, and I personally think she nailed it.
You pretty much get an idea of the plot with the synopsis, but let’s just recap…Reign is an ass! He’s cocky and sexy and he is so hung up on his ex, Selina that he only has one focus on life and that is to reclaim her. It doesn’t matter to him that she cheated and ruined their once happy relationship; all that matters is that she comes back to him and they live happily ever after. Well that is his plan until Tia enters his life and then she spins a web of emotions he never knew existed.
Tia and Reign meet at a club and have an instant connection. She is lighthearted and funny and shows a snarky side that he is intrigued by. He immediately hires her for some business and some pleasure, but only for show to make the ex jealous. Their arrangement doesn’t quite go as planned and soon he finds himself being pulled in two different directions.
Once Reign has both Tia and Selina in his life his heart and his head spin out of control trying to decide what path to take. He’s only ever wanted Selina, but he can’t seem to fathom his life without Tia. This is a bit of a love triangle, but only on the emotional level, not physical. I think this is the part of the story that you will either hate or love. Reign treats Tia like a shit. He needs her when he needs her and quickly forgets about her when he’s around Selina. He has never promised her anything and she has known from the start what his end game is. He uses her over and over again and she keeps falling deeper and deeper in love with him.
Tia is a sassy character full of spark. She shows Reign how to let loose and just have fun. She shows him how to be a friend and she shows him what love really is. Time and time again he disappoints and hurts her. She is so in love with him she accepts the good and the bad. The alternative is to walk away for good and she just can’t imagine a life without him. Some say this made her a weak character, I say it made her stronger. She saw a different side to Reign than no one knew existed. She showed him how fun life could be and she had faith in him that he would eventually take the blinders off and claim what she was offering. Like every great romance story he does finally see the error of his ways and earns his redemption with Tia. And if you’re like me and like to see the ex eventually get what she deserves, you will love how this story unfolds.
If you are a fan of Ms. Jewel and have followed her MC series, you will be happy to know some of her bikers show up in this story. They bring their badass protective personalities with them and prove they will always protect their own.
This is a really funny, lighthearted, sexy story. Yes, there are a lot of emotional moments that hit hard. There are some past demons that come into play. There are some serious soul searching moments, but it’s all entangled around a couple that pulls at your heartstrings and you can’t help but to root for.

There was no question Ash and CheIcie were going to have to overcome some huge hurdles in order to find a way into each other’s hearts. While watching them battle their way through, we have a front row seat to a tale of pain, heartache, grief, forgiveness, and at long last utter happiness and love. This book detailed for us the brutal childhood that Ash and Cooper shared. We experienced firsthand the lengths that Ash would go through to keep Coop safe. It lets us see how hard Ash is taking it since he wasn’t there to protect Coop months ago and he’s not gotten over his guilt. He’s buried his grief in booze and women. He will go to any length just for a few seconds of numb. Chelcie is struggling adapting to everything new in her life. She is in a new town, she has a new home, she is getting to know and trust her new friends, and now a new baby on the way. She wants to find a way to move on and she knows Ash is the one she wants to move on with, but he is stuck in a down whirl spiral and she has to fight to find the strength to pull him up. There is quite a bit of back story thrown in to give the reader a chance to really connect with the characters. I loved that. Even though it was brutal and hard to read, it really helped us understand Coop’s perspective on life. Ash is just torn between grief and a burning need for revenge. Chelcie is confused and hurt, but she has a determination that is unwavering and she proved to one hell of a strong lady. Watching Ash and Chelcie come together and try to accept the past they can’t change and reach for the happiness they both desire and deserve was absolutely beautiful. They really have a love story that is unmeasurable and completely consumes your heart. The secondary characters really helped pull off this story. They proved to be reliable, dependable, loyal friend. And I know this isn’t Maddox’s story, but damn, that man absolutely stole my heart. We saw a complete different caring compassionate side to him that just proved his book is going to be epic. The only issue I struggled with was the appearance of someone showing up from Ash’s past. I didn’t feel like it mixed well with the plot, and parts of this scene were very similar to what we saw in Mandy and Cage’s story. I’m not going into a lot of detail, it’s hard to do that and not give away any spoilers, but for three chapters my head was spinning. Aside from that, I loved reading about these two. Parts of their story are very sad and hard to get through, but the happiness they eventually find makes the bumpy road to claim it completely worth it.

Marybell and Tag definitely threw me for a loop with their book. With every new series I read, there is always one book that just isn’t my favorite. This is definitely that one book for me. With that being said, their story was original and definitely unique. I just struggled connecting with the characters a bit. I especially had a hard time picturing Marybell’s “people shield.” I understand the reasoning behind it, but the practicality of her makeup method was hard to visualize at times.
Marybell is a very lovable character. She hides behind her shield for a reason and once the layers of her past begin to be revealed, you just want to climb inside the pages and hug her. She never lies to be malicious; her actions are tied to simply saving herself. She has been through hell and back and it was good to finally understand exactly what she has been through.
I love how the past characters we have read about still have a big role in the new books. They are all entwined in each book and it allows you to keep that connection you felt with them while reading the first two books. These ladies always come together and stand up for one another. They truly show what true friendship is about.
At times I felt as though I needed a clearer picture as to Tag’s history. It seems to me his history was a bit brushed over and I didn’t feel that we were given many details. I suppose this left more time to dig into Maybell’s past, but I felt as though I was missing out on really connecting with him as well.
Another thing I am struggling with is the continuation of Louella and all her games. We are three books in and she continues to cause problems for everyone. These people are all very resourceful and it leaves me puzzled as to why no one is able to shut her down. In every book she is threatened, but then she just keeps on with the same game with a different player. I’m longing for someone to finally give her what she deserves.
I do like the premises of the series. It’s very original and with the phone sex company as a backdrop it leaves many angles open for many of entertaining stories in the future. If you have been reading this series, you definitely don’t want to miss out on this addition, but if you haven’t I would grab the previous books before diving into this one so you have a clearer understanding of the characters.

Five books later, I still love the Assassin series because it centers around hockey, but I honestly continue to read it because of the characters and the way Ms. Aleo has buried them deep within my heart.
Philip and Reese give the readers a chance to follow along a heart twisting yet passion filled journey as they try to put the past behind them and move forward. I’m sure most of you have read stories where one has been hurt badly, so in turn they ban any type of relationship and only engage in fun no strings sex, until feelings get involved and the plan goes to hell. That is really the premise of this book, but I promise it’s not a cookie cutter read that feels familiar at all. The story is original and unique and it really stands out on its own. Reese is stubborn and at times bitchy and cold, but once you get to know her and understand why she has so many defenses up all the time you can’t help but to adore her and hope she is able to claim new love and happiness.
Philip….Wow…what does one say about him? He is amazing, sensitive, sexy and just trying to finally be enough for someone. He has inherited one angry, confused, bitter teenage niece and it’s his mission to give her the world and make up for her shitty childhood. Their relationship is rocky and at times it seems doomed, but he never gives up. Everyone he has ever loved has always required time to love him back. So many things about him just shattered and shredded my heart. Once he sets his sights on Reese there is no denying these two belong together. However, there are many obstacles standing in the way. I really wanted someone to fight for him the way he always fought for everyone else. Towards the end of their story my hopes came true and it was a beautiful performance that left me wiping tears and completely breathless.
I absolutely love the way Toni always incorporates the Assassin family in each of her books. I love reading more about these characters that have found a permanent home in my heart. They are all greatly entwined in each other’s lives on and off the ice.
This book is full of sweltering sex, heartfelt emotion, and lots of hope. If you enjoy edgy, passionate romance wrapped around a sexy hockey team you won’t want to miss out on this one.

To say opposites attract pretty much describes Nico and Sophie to a tee. He is a bounty hunter covered in tattoos and piercings, wears gauges in his ears, and sports a totally badass fauxhawk. She is a school librarian who keeps to herself and never goes out. Even though they don’t match in appearance, she is definitely the one for him. She is the soft to his hard. The moment they meet she lights his soul on fire and he know immediately that she is his one. Anyone who has been reading this series understands the meaning and importance of him stating that. Now he is faced with the hardest mission of his life…convincing her that she is his.
Sophie has had a rocky life. After her mother’s death, her father gave up and Sophie experienced some things that have haunted her since then. She locks herself away from anything good in life because she is drowning in fear. Nico is a complete distraction to her life and doesn’t take well to her brushing him off. He proves to be demanding, bossy, controlling and a total alpha male, but he is absolutely consumed by her. He knows exactly how far he can push her. He lets her see that there is still a lot of good in the world she deserves to find and keep.
It’s hard to share too much of their story without giving away any spoilers. I will say Nico is completely dedicated to her and to his family and there are no limits on what he will do to keep them safe. Sophie not only has a past full of horrific memories, but she finds herself in the middle of some new nightmares and you are constantly on the edge of your seat waiting for the bad to show up. I was seriously nervous to turn the pages for fear of what lied in store for her.
Ms. Reynolds always does a fantastic job balancing the romance and the suspense. I absolutely love her writing style. It’s so refreshing to read a story that is focused on strong couples that stay strong throughout the book and fight for one another, not against. The Until Series is one of my favorites and is constantly on my re-read list. I have read them over and over again, and I still can’t get enough.
Something to Talk About is book two in the Plum Orchard series. With each new story in this series, these characters just sink further into my heart.
This story really has several layers. We follow Em and her children down a bumpy road as she tries to rebuild her life and pick up the pieces after her divorce. We meet Jax and his adorable daughter Maizy. Then we get to trail along their path of finding, accepting, and ultimately claiming new love and happiness.
If there was one common theme delivered in this book it was growth. Em has lived under her mother’s microscope and is plagued by gossip that surrounds this small town. She lets everyone dictate how she needs to behave and how she deals with every situation. She has had a lot of dirt thrown at her and watching her gain internal strength and courage to fight back was amazing. Jax is living with immense guilt for how he handled a bad situation years ago. I really don’t want to get too far into his story because it takes a major twist that you need to experience while reading. However, he finally gets to a place where he is able to face the past, accept his actions, and let go.
Jax and Em start off in a sex-only, no commitment relationship. Neither is allowed to ask questions about the others’ lives, and no one is to know about them being together. The lengths they go to keep it under wraps were hilarious. It becomes apparent that in Plum Orchard there is no such thing as a secret. It also becomes apparent that a “just sex” relationship between the two is never going to work out. There is no way to keep the emotions and the actions separate. They have a lot of issues to work through and their story just pulls you in deep and keeps you rooting for a happy ending.
Em really took a stand for herself in this book and it was fantastic to see her evolve. She put her mother in her place, she doused out Louella, who is only around to cause hurt and humiliation to anyone she chooses to target, and opened up to her ex-husband about his actions and how they have impacted her and the children’s lives. Seeing who she has become from book one to book two is exhilarating. She is finally able to live the life she chooses and she isn’t afraid to claim what she wants.
If you haven’t grabbed hold of this series and lost yourself in this small town full of love, friendship, and caring, with a side of gossip, secrets, and betrayal you are missing out. It includes all the ingredients to make an exciting, sexy intriguing book.
