This time I decided to reread it just in time for the release of the movie. This book still makes me laugh. I am not writing a summary of the plot. If you haven't read this book yet then get on it.
The thing that stuck in my mind this time around was that part of the reason Vinnie gave Stephanie FTAs to track down (besides Stephanie blackmailing Vinnie's) was that Morty Byers was in the hospital with a ruptured appendix.
In the past when I read it was a funny little side story that meant nothing (especially after Morty Byers was blown up along with Joe's jeep). But now the part were he is all hunched over at Stephanie's apartment getting his paperwork back on his FTAs had me laughing. Probably because I have been there done that...recently.
I to was sightly hunched over returning to work a week after my appendix ruptured and the surgery that followed. I wasn't looking for people who had skipped bail but sitting in the office was unpleasant.
I guess no matter how many times you read One for the Money you will find a new something to laugh at. (less)

This time around Stephanie is chasing down Joe Morelli's no good cousin Kenny Mancuso. Kenny also happens to be a sociopath that decides to stalk Stephanie and commit a host of other crimes. With her Grandma Mauzer, Morelli and Ranger as her back up Stephanie might make it out of the Burg alive.
Despite being darker than One for the Money, Two for the Dough still manages to be funny and light hearted. Buzzing with sexual tension between Stephanie and Morelli we are taken on a tour of The Burg that has us Laughing out Loud for real.(less)

I really enjoyed this book it was a quick fun read. And although it is the first book in a series it does not leave you hanging and wraps up all the strings very nicely. (less)

In this Between-the-Numbers novel, Grandma Mauzer finds a bag full of money and does what any self respecting senior from New Jersey does heads to Atlantic City and starts playing the slots and she not alone. She takes Randy Briggs to act as body guard. Soon Stephanie, Lulu and Connie are on the way to Atlantic City in hot pursuit. Along with the mysterious and oh so YUMMY, Diesel. But they are soon joined by a leprechaun named Snuggy, Ok he is not a real leprechaun but he is short and thinks he is a leprechaun, and he wants his money back. Soon everyone is getting lucky in Atlantic City is it possible that Snuggy is the real deal and whats up with the talking horse?
I enjoyed this book. It was funny and easy to read. If you dont read the Stephanie Plum series (which i am not sure why you wont) then at least read the short "novellas". No sex no violence. Just some good clean funny and serious flirting, but then what girl wouldnt flirt with Diesel.(less)

First her good friend Jo Gilbert dies and it looks like suicide. But China and her friend Ruby donot buy it. Yea Jo was sick but she was a fighter and would not have given up. Then during the one night that week she might get to spend some good quality time with Mike McQuaid, Roz Kotner returns to town and wants to stay in China's guest cottage. After that someone breaks into Jo's house. Then 2 more bodies are found. Definetly a bad week. But what is really going on in this quite little Texas town and what does it have to do with Jo's death???
Lydia was right I really enjoyed this book. China Bayles is offically one of my favorite ameatuer dectives. China is a fun slightly complicated and flawed character that is a joy to read. Throw in her freespirted, newage best friend and a cute excop turned professor and your in for a good time. (less)
