It's too bad she couldn't have given her own rating, I'm sure it was good. She did, after-all, lay on the book for days - thought she'd never give me a turn. And wow - you ought to read this book! David Lyons, the author is a new and upcoming thriller writer that actually has more going on in his stories than thrilling adventures and a close. He cleverly inspires your brain to think outside the box to take a closer look at what might be right under our noses. Don't get me wrong, the story is compelling enough and the plot is captivating because just when you think ol' Jock is out of trouble, it seems to find him again. What marks Lyons as unique is that the trouble isn't what you'd expect - he has a great imagination when it comes to story content. What really makes him stand out for me however, and my biggest thrill was having my brain engaged when the characters had private conversations that were deep and intellectually stimulating. I actually felt like I was somehow "in-the-know.." or being let in on some big secret or conspiracy that others don't know about; it also tantalized my brain to start thinking a little about our government, our country, other countries and the challenges we all face in our struggle to basically be good. I put down the book after reading the last page and thought about how we really do have to keep the faith in our country, no matter where you live...and no matter what it looks like...at the same time however, it's wise to keep our eyes open too.
Here's what Publisher's Weekly just gave him -- A STARRED REVIEW saying: Superior....Federal judge Jock Boucher finds himself in the midst of a possible conspiracy involving arms dealers, drug runners, and a small group of individuals trying to set off a major international incident. A strong protagonist, unexpected plot twists, and smart dialogue make this a winner." ...more
