The later line " And candles gutter by an empty altar," is previously And candles gutter in a hall of mirrors. i would like to have both versions yeah right ..(less)

Okay, THIS is what I hate about the twilight series, IT'S POPULARITY AMONG MY PEERS. Okay, my daughter is 11 yo, and SHE AND HER FRIENDS LOVE EDWARD!! Okay, why is it that my peers, 40 yo's are raving about this series?? Something is wrong with America, ugh. Also, my step daughter, who is older, okay like WAY older, 22yo , is reading this series too. Well, she isn't a big reader, and I can see the whole story appealing to someone of that age with not a whole lot of life experience and who isn't an avid reader.
I DO read young people/juvenile genre, there are quite a few books that are fresh and not bogged down like adult stuff b/c we seem to try too hard sometimes!
I read half of New Moon okay? That was all I could swallow. While I was reading it I recalled that I had tried the first book when I began hearing of it, and gagged on that one too.
I couldn't get thru the whole thing. I pretty much stopped when edward moved and that bella girl started talking to the cool indian guy who could fix anything. Except my daughter tells me he turns out to be a werewolf. oh well.
This is like a harlequin romance for teens..It is a bit of a dream of a first love scenario or state of mind, like ..I outgrew Harlequin's over one summer, read and stopped, when I was 11.
I can't stand trends for their own sake, we tend to be sheep in our society, which is a shame because there are SO many good books out there.
Okay there is a great young person's series Maximum Ride, it's cool and supernatural and action oriented and I find that story MUCH more interesting..Why aren't my peers interested in THAT??
Anyhow, I approved the series for my daughter to read. I try to read one or two things my kids are, we are all avid readers. It is the ONLY thing I have in common right now with my 16 yo son.
As long as she alternates the series with other books.
Come on peeps, if you're past 30, make your time count.

I haven't read any of the books in the series, but can't wait to read the one after this. I listened to this daily, finished today, and still have the 3 main characters in my mind.
It's also interesting if you just studied early american govt/history, due to the Peter/Hedgemon/Union sort of , angle.
oh i will also add, the audio book is great, although not necessary. Each character has his/her own actor.(less)
