I was pretty depressed by Samuel's feeling in 2nd book, but turned out Samuel would be okay after this book. I am more in to Samuel than Adam, but I have this bad, very bad feeling about Samuel....
Anyway, the last part was pretty saddening. Poor, poor Mercy. She was just trying to help her friends and she always got hurt. ...more

I was reluctant at first actually, I have never liked old manga except when they are really really good. Candy Candy scares the life out of me with their sparkling big eyes. But this is not the same kind like Candy Candy anyway. An old guy friend actually convinced me that this manga was a real good and my old self always read what boys read. He didn't tell me this was a BL manga.
This manga turned out to be a real good manga full of angst. Ash was not your usual pretty boy in BL manga because he could fight. He bit. He was so brave, strong and loyal. Not a damsel in distress and that role fell on Eiji. Well, he was not exactly damsel in distress, but close. It was just that Eiji was not accustomed with criminal life and he was just a bystander that got dragged along and a weak point for Ash. The dynamic between those two was sweet and then so heartbreaking with that kind of end.

This review is perhaps totally biased because I love Sasuke too much
God, those abs!
Artwork: If you talk to me about manga, artwork always comes first. Among those shounen mangas that have become mainstream, Masashi-sensei's artwork is the simple one, the neat one, and just the way I like it. The panels are simple, never make me squint to see details.
Story line: everyone lied to Sasuke or everyone hid facts about Naruto's or Sasuke's family. Never makes me tired with the turn of events. Expect sappy line every now then, because this is Japanese comic, remember. "My love will bring peace" and all~
Characterization: pretty much like any shonen manga, Masashi-sensei created many amazing characters with intriguing personalities as well as good looks. Naruto, the dumb protagonist, too loyal, too weak, too in love with Sasuke. Sasuke, the I-am-better-than-thou, the sidekick. Kakashi, the best laid back sensei, Sakura the women! The character development was amazing~
....though I am pretty much pissed with Sasuke's character development.
On hold until Masashi-sensei clears Sasuke's name :))
I hope this won't end like Sasuke Deeper Kyo. OTL.
My favorite girl has always been Rico, but Triela is the best. She is pretty, smart and acting like a big sister fWarning: Tissue alert! Major angst!
My favorite girl has always been Rico, but Triela is the best. She is pretty, smart and acting like a big sister for other cyborg girls. This volume is mainly about her, a little bit of her savior past, and her love. It was so saddening that the girls' bodies were degenerating.
Reading Gunslinger Girls, just like reading any Shinseigumi story, you always know, that there won't be a good ending.
(view spoiler)[I was a little bit taken aback when she kissed Victor, seriously. I know, all those cyborg girls had complicated feeling towards their brothers (except Rico perhaps, you wouldn't what was on her head after all). Petrushka did kiss his brother and she was quite old to do that. But Triela and Victor, it was just holy cow! She said that her feeling towards Victor was part of her condition, but hey, you kissed him. I thought she always saw Hielshcer as a father figure. He bought teddy bears for Triela, the sweetest brother! He just wanted Triela to live longer.
Just reread this wonderful manga and my eyes still brimmed with tears because of the heart-wrenching ending.

If you love Saiyuki (Gaiden), then you will love this one too. The relationship between Stork and Tit was like the relationship between Konzen and Goku before his punishment. Stork showed that he really loved Tit (platonic, mind you) unlike Sanzo who was a total tsundere and had made Goku suffer and feel uncertain.
Tit showed up out of nowhere, latched his little fingers around Stork's heart and yeah, just like that, just like Goku to Konzen, Stork instantly loved that child.
The ending was heartbreaking. Too short for wonderful story but I really don't mind about that.
More often than not, I didn't understand what Minekura-sensei tried to tell through her mangas. She got this harsh truth people couldn't just accept. Bitter I could say. I was not sure I understand what Stigma was about, but it had good artwork and good dynamics between Stork and Tit :))
PS: there were hints of Stork's gay relationship, and sometimes Minekura-sensei drew scenes between Tit and Stork that made my mind go to the gutter. ...more

I still can't believe it that Aya Kanno is the creator of Otomen and Blank Slate. I read then dropped Blank Slate, but seriously, Otomen's cover is enough to scare the life out of me.
Anyway, it's different with this manga. It was total angst, Hijikata, Shouji and Saito were drawn beautifully, not too beautiful that it scared me off. The dysfunctional relationship between Hijikata and Shouji Okita was saddening and just beautifully angsty.
Skipped Vol. 19 because I hadn't bought it yet. And reading Vol. 20 was like "what the hell had happened?".

And you see, I vaguely understand Shuhei's feeling, to be blinded and jealous. That's competition. And sometimes, when you lose, you need space, even from your best friend slash rival. Kai was being annoying idiot here, I would snap too if my rival try to "comfort" me after losing a battle. And in Shuhei's case, it was harder because of his father's expectation. Oh God, this volume just hit home.

Things you don't want to talk about, really. Pedophilic porns and prostitution. Really, people have to be aware of the first. This was just too heart-wrenching. The last time I cried this hard because of a book was two years ago. And that was about children too. People, just, please, take good care of your kids, your siblings, every children. Remember, you were kids once.
Neil did grew up too fast, learnt thing the hard way and he was simply mad. I hate him. What was on his head when he did that horrible things to that disabled kid. It was beyond me. I actually cried for that poor kid. I have never got bullied, but I know someones get bullied and if bullies could go that far.....It was just horrible. But children were cruel and Neil was one of them. But somehow I adore his bravery, and he showed who he was, and not ashamed of it. I wish I could do that.
Brian was the victim. His story made me think of Ghost Hound (anime) I watched weeks before. It was a case of PTSD where Tarou forgot his abduction and wanted to remember (not alien abduction, mind you) but in this case, Brian clearly got it worse, it affected him physically. I really wanted to hug him. He was like a kid who grew up too late and he didn't know how to deal with it.
It took so long for Brian and Neil to meet and it was good plot. Yes, it took years for the mystery to get solved but it didn't bore me like Ghost Hound. The characterization was so good you wouldn't get bored. Seriously.
Deborah and Eric are two characters I love after Brian. Deborah simply remind me of my self and Eric was simply sweet kid I had always liked.
Five stars, even when I hate first POV, even when I hate shifting POV, he had written this book beautifully, he really understand the characters and it was just wonderful. But I really want to know the afterward. Why did he end thing like this? Why. I just want to know, just to make sure that Brian would be okay. This was so devastating.
PS: As I am writing this review, my nose is clogged with tears and snots. It will take sometimes to make me stop crying my eyes dry. ...more

I really adore Inariya's artwork. And put military stories and angst together, I would adore you forever, just like I adore Kabi :D

Kiriyama Rei is a 17 year old professional shogi player and very good at it, but in real life, he has nothing. Quiet and not very social, Rei has no family, no friends, and he doesn't go to school. He is acquainted with a neighboring woman named Akari who is single-handedly raising her two younger sisters, Momo and Hinata.
LOVE IT LOVE LOVE IT!
But so depressing for someone who is still haunted by the past and doesn't know where to move forward like me /sobs
And the last part reminded me of my rival's mother. She heard from her daughter I wanted to be a writer when we were looking for the right major in college, she then advised me via her daughter, "writing is a hobby, don't make it as your job." She is that kind of woman. I felt indignant at first, but then something in real life made me realize that I had to be more realistic. In this case, if you have hobby and want to stick with it, you have to make sure you are really damn good at it. Shogi!! Rei was damn good at it. But he was young, sensitive and unbalanced. Just like Mercy, I didn't want him die either, but those werewolves accepted the worst case willingly. Almost all of this book is about getting Samuel better and fixing Mercy's bond with Adam's pack. So glad Samuel found anchor that made him want to live again. Aside of Samuel, I really like Mercy. Strong, level-headed, brave, rash and CUTE! she had oil under her nails! Not your typical female character in romance novel. She is that kind of woman I want my self to be like ヽ(愛´∀｀愛)ノ
This novel is very romantic without getting too explicit XD Well, I am not going to say the fight among werewolves is not explicit. I clutched my ribs and grimaced for Marry Jo.
(view spoiler)[AND THE MARROK SHOWED UP FINALLY!! I kinda love Bran already ♥ because he was not as scary as Mercy had said and was young when he was turned instead of scary balding old man with belly beer like I had thought, ehem
And you will have white wolf Sam XD I know I am afraid of "dog", but I like it as long it doesn't bark. Ah and who wouldn't love Snow Ball~ It's a bit surprise that Samuel's love would be a fae, of all things, really didn't see that coming. I thought he would get himself with Slyvia or someone from the clinic he worked. Ah but it's as sweet and cute as it could got :3
The things with Ariana, it must be a looooooong time ago. They were like still in Europe. I really wonder how old are Bran and Samuel. And there was Anna, who was Charles, Bran's other son, and was an omega! I would like to know about Charles more.

And I secretly love reading diary, well, not a secret anymore ;)
“I’m going to miss you all very much. I hope you have a great time at college.” And then I started crying because it suddenly hit me that they were all leaving.
The exact thing I felt when someone special texted me, "Will you be still here? Let's go out, my treat, for your graduation." I cried. I had never cried in any graduation since elementary school graduation.
I just had graduated too and my friends I used to hang out with in college were mostly my juniors or seniors and then we had to go back to our hometown. I cried after graduation and I think Indah recommended this book to me because she knew I cried. I refused a senior who asked me out to celebrate my graduation because I didn't want to cry in front of him because once I had loved him and I would miss best friends, everyone. I just didn't want to cry anymore.
I miss my friends too, Charlie. But things change. And friends leave. And life doesn't stop for anybody. You're strong. Get well soon, Charlie.
