When I first heard she was releasing a new book I knew I had to read it. Almost as soon as I got it in the mail I started to devour this powerful and emotional story. Like all of Cathy's books a few tears will be shed and your heart twisted but by the end you are so invested in it that it is worth the good ending.
Saving Amelie is set in WWII era Germany and speaks about Hitlers goal to make a perfect Aryan race. We all know how much he hated the Jews but what gets forgotten is that He also hated anyone that He didn't deem perfect: handicap, deaf, blind, you get the picture. This is such a powerful read that will really make you think and feel for the people and what happened back then.
This is so not a easy beach read book but one that challenges your brain and twists your emotions. I highly recommend this book to all of Cathy's fans, those who love reading books set in that time frame or someone that is up for an emotional book filled with accurate history and fantastic characters that show the strength they need to survive and fight. Great job Cathy on another fantastic book.

Loved this book! This has been easily a favorite book of mine and one I will be re reading in the future, it has earned a permanent place on my bookshelf. As soon as I heard Allison Pittman had a new book coming out I could not wait to read it. I have read many of her books and loved them all. I really enjoy reading books set in the roaring '20's since that decade is such a mark of change and the struggles faced back then were very hard and really start to mark a more modern era. Life really started to change from the simpler olden days.
All for a Song is tells a powerful story of Miss Dorothy Lynn Dunbar and really is a story of growing up and finding God's plan. She struggles with the more modern things of the city with her simple country childhood and is torn for much of the story of where she fits and what life she is suppose to lead. I found it interesting how Allison Pittman weaved in the real life charismatic female evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson and loved the the blend of fiction and non-fiction.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves historical s set in the '20's. I will warn though that this book really is not a romance story at all but much more of a coming-of-age story filled with so much that will leave you turning the pages long after the lights go out. Great job Allison Pittman on a fantastic novel.

From the beautiful cover to the powerful story this book captured my attention from the very first page. This is not a complete fluffy, head in the clouds type of book but a poignant telling of how Penny met her husband, the abusive years and how she learns to laugh again and be free of the abusive relationship.
I loved how the story is told by Penny as she is telling the story to her son about his father. She recalls every single moment and really makes the reader feel like they are right along side her. Gina Holmes does an amazing job at making the reader feel ever emotion. This is not an easy book to read, but at the same one that draws you so far in that you can't help but keep reading. Great job on this book Gina and I hope many enjoy it and for some that it may help them see there is something better than living in a abusive situation.

Maureen Lang does a great job at weaving the lives of Henry Hawkins and Dessa Caldwell together, both impulsive, stubborn and in need to learn the same lessons. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and dived right in as soon as it came in the mail. It didn't take me long to read at all! I just loved Dessa and her determination to help woman and young woman out and get them out of bad situations. She didn't just want to give them a hand out but a hand up and teach them skills and show them that God loves them. This is not an easy thing for a woman to do back then and in many ways is still a hard thing.
This is part of the Guilded Legacy series but can be completed read on its own, there really is no connection to the first book. The characters and setting and completely different. II personally think this book is a lot better than Birds in the Butterfly Garden, the first book in the series. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has enjoyed Maureen Lang's other books and historical romance in general. You can't go wrong with this book and the cover is beautiful!
