I read several chapters in the beginning and several chapters at the end. It wasn't great, but it didn't suck, so I'll rate it 3 stars and scratch my head wondering what exactly happened in the middle bit. ...more

I can't recall how many times I cried, but they weren't bad tears. No, this book is filled with so much, sappily enough, faith, hope and love to warrant sloppy tears.
I adore Emily and Paul and I would absolutely read this series again.
"Listed" is a story about 17 yo Emily dying of a mysterious illness who seeks to cross off "Get Married" from her bucket list by proposing to reformed bad boy and stinking rich mid-20s Paul. Did I mention that he's gorgeous? And, of course, Emily is lovely and newly orphaned and alone in the world. Paul decides he has nothing better to do but help Emily cross off items, like sky-diving and seeing the pyramids, and they do each in style. And, how could they resist not growing close, each young, alone and beautiful. Simply unforgettable.

It took a bit to adjust to the narrator, especially Emie's voice. But once I did, I thought he did an OUTSTANDING job. He slipped seamlessly into male and female roles and I was wowed at the different accents. I was seriously impressed. Matter of fact. his performance is why I stayed up ALL night listening straight through. I kept telling myself, "Just one more chapter" until I was finished. 14 books, though? YIPES! That's going to be major investment if I want to buy all of the audiobooks. I wouldn't have the patience to read them now after having heard this one. For this reader, having all the characters come to life will be mandatory.
Anyway, as far as specifics, there are a ton of fab reviews, so I'll keep mine brief. Obviously, I was immediately drawn into the story. I usually have very little patience for loads of tedious, but necessary, world-building in fantasy books--mostly because I have the attention span of a gnat. However, I was impressed at how smoothly the author doled out the information in a way I didn't feel like I was choking on facts--especially when I read romance books for, well, the romance.
In any case, I loved Lachlain to bits. Sure he was a PITA for most of the story, but he was a hot PITA with an unfortunate hair-trigger temper. Plus, there was such a gentle quality beneath all his huffing and puffing. Not to mention a passionate nature that just sizzled. I liked that he was super intelligent and not a furry meat-head. And Emie, she projected herself as this weak, sheltered female, but Lachlain with his bossiness couldn't help push her buttons left and right exposing a dormant fierceness mostly expressed with a witty sarcasm that seriously cracked me up. She was much stronger than anyone in her clan would every believe her to be and I enjoyed watching her character come into her power. The chemistry between L & E was off-the-charts. I must say, though, that when it came down to actually 'doing it' I wasn't as impressed. There was an abundance of foreplay throughout--that I loved--but it never really caught fire after their first very complicated mating. It was 'busy,' but wasn't very HOT, in my opinion. I didn't mind, though, as the focus was more in these characters bonding and tapping into their passion.
I didn't have much patience for these sorts of series, but I admit I'm intrigued. There are quite a few characters I enjoyed and I'd welcome the opportunity to read their stories....more
