Great audiobook title. The narrator did such a great job voicing the two MCs. Just a slight change of inflection and she suddenly switched from Evelyn to David and then back again. Once in awhile the character of Evelyn seemed a tad immature, but then I remembered she was twenty-one. I'm sorry, but that's so damn young to get married. I was naive as a bag of rocks at that age, and oh-so gullible. I can't even imagine getting married at that age, especially to a rock star. But, then who am I to judge? As it is written, I truly enjoyed this couple. And while wearing a bit of a smirk, I wish them all the best.
*It's been a day and I just wanted to update that I really liked this book, and that's most likely because of the narration. So, I really advise listening to the audible version.(less)

My first audio book. I found it really hard to not get distracted while listening to this. It probably takes practice to be able to focus on the story and do at least one other thing, which I find necessary otherwise I'll fall asleep. Anyway, I really enjoyed Ms. Dohner's New Species series. It's been a long while since I've read Moon, #10. Unfortunately, I must admit the plot felt a bit "samey" to me--human girl crush on resentful but hot Species--and I've read much better by her.(less)

Super short and mucho grammar errors. The idea of this insta-love short story is pretty good. All the roles are in place: nasty ex, best friend in the whole world, drop dead gorgeous guy who's relationship shy, drop dead gorgeous girl who's also relationship shy. They tell each other over and over they can't commit then "weep" when they're apart. It sort of fell flat after awhile. And what about stalker ex? I guess he very conveniently split. Anyway, I'm glad that's done. And, yes, I read this for the man smut cover! :D(less)

Not much else to say, except the proper nouns were a bit silly and added to my lack of being able to take this very seriously. Oh, and the facing deactivation unless love was found within just a couple days was a bit much. How do you cope we being abducted AND fall in love at the same time? That's asking a bit much! But, hey, if the sex is great maybe that helps her cope, I suppose. (less)

Our hero Carlo is this big time cocky rich ass dick, who's actually nice to everyone except for the women he'd dates. Twenty-one year old Cassandra is young, naive, pretty and has already suffered a whole lotta loss during her short life...and then Carlo saunters into it. Douchebag Carlo has some stupid-ass bet going on with a co-worker where they each find nice girls, wine 'em, dine 'em and then dump 'em--nice, huh? Well, there's more, but that's just the beginning. Read now or wait until the Fall and save yourself the wait.(less)

And I really, really enjoyed this except for a few points.
The good: --the subterfuge at the beginning --the expanse of the mansion as almost an additional character --the sexual tension between Lily and. Nox --the small tokens of phone calls
the not so good: --better if tension, sexual and otherwise, was ratcheted up even more --the above tension applying to all the characters stretched just a bit longer --the sense of danger could have been more palpable --one more steamy scene wouldn't have hurt --was the laxness on captors behalf part of the fuck up? --what was all that training for? --I think the book was a bit rushed throughout. That tension in the beginning and while she wouldn't eat was perfect and ended too soon.
All these minor quibbles are the difference between 4.25 & 5 Stars. So, I'm not slamming this by any means.(less)

I absolutely loved this book! It's hot, funny, kinky, with a hint of angst. It's about one stuffy, billionaire by day named Max / and his alter ego Torment, a hot as sin, tattooed MMA fighter by night. And though he wasn't looking, Makayla / Mac struts into his life, and she just bowls him over with her beauty, curves, empathy and her sweet, smart mouth.
Makayla's compassion does not extend to herself. It's hard for her to give herself a break or to ask for what she needs. And let's not even talk about trust. But Max is a complete enigma and the only thing the reader knows for sure is that he’s fallen hard for her whether he admits it to himself or not. So, despite the fact that they can't keep away from each other, neither of them are ready to open up about their past pain and they can't truly form a bond until they take that risk.
This is one of the sexiest and most hilarious books I've read in awhile. Makayla has shot up to the top of my most favorite heroines! And our Hero, Max seriously cracks me up. He's intense but just the squishiest Doms. His controlling ways extend to every aspect of Mad's life, but he is putty in her hands. It's great to see how they begin to heal each other unawares. They're perfect for each other. Top it off with a gym full of MMA fighters for Makayla to counsel; her bestie Amanda who carries a torch for MMA fighter Jake; Big Doris, Mac's envious, over zealous, chit-writing hospital supervisor; and randy Dr. Drake who is a complete man whore, but with a golden heart. And I'm not even mentioning Sergio, Makaylah's wacky, student loan debt collector.
I did not want this to end. As a matter of fact, I’d happily subscribe to a serial for occasional peeks into everyone’s lives. Next up is, “In Your Corner,” Jake and Amanda's story, and I sure hope it gives us an update about Max and Makayla.(less)

These Doms and Dommes are well-paid and living out there fantasies to beat the shit out of those who pay very well to be beaten. But at the same time there's a loneliness that Ms Reisz captures without it being whingeing and it's natural they'd want a break, no? And because of this we allow these characters to willingly climb onto the St. Andrew's cross residing in our greedy little hearts. And we want to keep them their forever, but we know instead we'll remember fondly the time they spent hung there breathlessly awaiting that first strike we were too chickenshit to deliver (or at least this loony reader was).
Dear me, I really should stop writing my reviews at 3:45 AM. I should really delete all of the above and rewrite it, but I'm too tired and most of it should make sense, as in, I really, really loved this.(less)

Short, with just a bit of BDSM and a lot of love. I liked that. It's great to take a break from drama and angst and just read a Dom/sub love story. Ryan was a big softy and I enjoyed that. He wasn't a massive sadist, like so many Doms are, but he was still very much a Dominant. He was capable of adoration and he adored Jesse. She had a horrible experience as a teen and was stuck reliving it in a loop. Ryan knew with patience and care he could free her from her pain and claim her as his sub. The only negative I have is hard to articulate. It seems to me the author wrote with extreme simplicity and attention to detail much like Kristen Ashley, but Ryan and Jesse's voice and dialogue came off in sort of a immature and repetitive way, if that makes sense. Unfortunately, It took away some of the heat in the love scenes between the MCs. Still, despite this I would definitely read another book by The author.(less)

I had to go do some chores and cry out that ending. I hate it when you're crying so hard you can't breathe. Poor god-damned Fee! Why did that happen?!
And boy was she wrong about Elliot. I loved Elliot's bravery in the end. Will Ethan's story continue? I love him for having the courage to say NO MORE and then to show up.
And Fee was wrong about Deacon. He will be trusting that she can give him enough. Or will they end up in the same space with her not needing to be "led around by her cunt." You know, I wonder why Deacon didn't just take her with him on these trips or as close as he could, give her a job, a meaning. Not having one is killing her. Also, it was the abandonment from her "wire parents" that made her depend on him so much.
Will she ever get the chance now to be strong on her own? Or did Fuckhead take that from her. Everyone goes on and on about how unbelievable strong Fiona is, yet she was taken down so swiftly. Sucks that it was right after her deciding to step out on and test her strength.
Lastly, that was a haunting image about the caterpillar shifting at the end. You'll get there Fiona!
I'm Team Everyone at the end of this! Mostly Team CD Reiss! She breaks my heart with every book she writes! That's a good thing, though.
Note/ Forgive this shredded review! I'm writing it just after finishing Use and I'm still crying a bit. *sniff*(less)

I just posted my review and it disappeared! I don't have it in me to rewrite it now. I'll just say that I enjoyed it, but it was a bit lengthy towards the end. Great epilogue as usual. I'm still a huge fan of KA, I just got pulled away from reading this a couple times and found it difficult to get drawn back into the story. That said, I'd move to the 'burg if I knew where it was. I'd just duck whenever I heard a loud noise and make great friends with the police department to avoid getting stalked or murdered. :D(less)
