It is a very different take on the zombie genre where only teenagers can come back after their death. In this book, it is almost as if the zombies, or 'differently biotic,' are a different race or 'species.' I like how they have to face problems that all teens do, but they also have the problem of not being a true citizen any more. I loved that this book was a fast-paced, fun read with multi-faceted characters, but it also made you think about what prejudice and challenges these people have to face day to day. I loved the plot and was a bit surprised at how the ending turned out. A great book.(less)

I liked how some of the same characters are back and how their characterization has not changed them, but allows us see how they have grown or stayed the same. I found the action and romance to be along the lines of the first book and it kept me interested- I did not want to put the book down. This book had great characters, plenty of action, and more Bones. I cannot wait to read the next one.(less)

This time, Percy must face the labyrinth and find its creator before Luke does. I liked how in depth every aspect of the story is from Percy and Annabeth, to side characters like the monsters in the labyrinth (Sphinx), and the twists and turns of the labyrinth itself. I feel that this series only gets better with each book.(less)

I enjoyed that Clary and Jace needed to reflect on their lives after the twist at the end of ‘City of Bones.’ I enjoyed that there was more of a ‘mystery’ attached to the action of the book and that any new characters that were added, Maya, were immediately useful and did not just sit on the sidelines. I loved the side plot that Simon had and I cannot wait to see how the characters will handle more problems that come their way in later books.(less)

It started out as any teenage paranormal romance with a female protagonist. Girl meets mysterious boy. Girl discovers that she has some sort of powers. Girl cannot stay away from mysterious boy (for whatever reason). Girl saves the day. This book might have followed this roughly, but there were also somethings that I believed helped this story. Not only does the heroine discover that she has powers, but her 'normal everyday friend', who I usually like better than the mysterious stranger anyway and who is usually just there to tether the heroine to the 'real world,' also realized that he had some powers and was far from normal as well. Along with this twist, there was some backstory surprises that actually surprised me and I didn't fully guess them until I was reading that page. Because of this, I was fully engaged in the story, and I cannot wait to read the next book.(less)

I thought that it was a very interesting and different concept. I liked that I was able to see more than just one point of view of the kids that are scheduled to be unwound. I thought the book worked very well by giving multiple views of the unwinds, but no direct views of their parents who had sent them to be unwound. This book was quick paced, interesting, and there were some events that took me by surprise. Overall, a good book.(less)

It had a kick-ass heroine, who had issues of her own, a fast-paced and addicting plot, romance, and Bones, a sexy vampire who may or may not be Spike’s (from Buffy) long lost brother. I liked the development of Cat. She did not stay static throughout the book, but she did not also change her ways instantly to be with a man. I liked that the book was not very predictable and yet it was familiar enough that I felt that I knew the characters. I really enjoyed it and I cannot wait to read the next one.(less)
