The story is about Lewis a twelve year old boy who up until his twelfth birthday thought he was different. His thoughts are confirmed when he wakes up in bed with the body of a bug, which he passes off as a dream. However seconds later while brushing his teeth he turns into a raptor with razor sharp teeth, realizing he's not just a normal boy he instantly wonders if he's a mutant.
After school Lewis comes home to find his house has burned down, and his father has passed away. He doesn't have time to decide what to do, he's attacked by a drake a wolf man who was sent to capture him, and saved by Master Long who takes him to Xor. Once in Xor Lewis meets the king who tells him that the world of Xor is in trouble unless they can stop the Realm Pirates from covering the planet in darkness.
Lewis embarks on a quest to save Xor, with his new friends Master Long, Grand Magician K'Bol's, Professor Nand and Five. The group sets out stop the Realm Pirates before they can rule all of Xor in darkness. The group decides that finding Dalith the Beneficent the most powerful sorceress will know how to help Lewis save Xor. On the way to finding the elusive Dalith, they encounter many beings along the way, saving people from a monster who feeds on free will and Building a lake in a underground cave just to name a few.
This book has instantly draws you in within the first few pages, you want to know more about who Lewis really is and what he can do. The characters are well written, you instantly fall in love with them and rooting for Lewis to fight the darkness. I like that he's not alone, even though his parents are gone and his biological parents have been kidnapped by the Realm Pirates he still keeps his cool and works hard to do whatever it takes. The book is a non-stop adventure, I had a hard time putting it down I wanted to know what would be next. I found the whole concept unique and refreshing. (less)

I was excited to read Neophyte because it's my first angel book. The cover is beautifully designed, it instantly drew me in. The story is about Addison a 17 year old girl who has died and come back to start the transition to become a angel. Her best friend Hunter happens to be a angel but she didn't know that till after she died. After Addison dies she joins Hunter's link, it's a connection to the other 4 angels she will be living with. Two of the angels Everett and Wilhelm who have never been human, they where born angels. Graham and Greysan are twins who used to be human but have already transitions through the process of being angels and have been for a long time. Hunter also used to be human like the twin, he shares a special connection to Addison. The four men feel very strongly about protecting Addison till she has transitioned to full angel, there are those out there who want to control her turn her against them. Addison is attacked by a grey winged angel who happens to be a former link member, it ends in the death of the angel. This starts a attack on her link from the rival grey winged angels link. Through out the book she spends time finding her feelings for Greysan, and avoiding being taken by Farran the leader of the grey winged angels. I found the book difficult to read, I just had a hard time staying focused. I think maybe I had to high of expectations that when it didn't suck me right in it became hard for me. I really wanted to love this book but for me it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think the characters are well written and created I could visualize them in my mind. For me this just wasn't my kind of book. It could be I just wasn't into the angel mood as I thought. I think overall it is a good book but it's just not for me. (less)

Werewolves in no shape or form should own a fast food restaurant. No pancakes, no frozen custard, and for goodness sake, my people needed to stop peddling pizza. In my opinion, any establishment where my food could potentially grow microscopic wildlife wasn’t my kind of place to eat. That pretty much left fire-grilled food on the menu, and the only good thing any werewolf grilled well these days was a well-done burger. And Archie’s sold the best double-stacked burger on this side of the Toms River. If the animal walked and men speared it, then Archie burned it the best.
Natalya is a werewolf she didn't become one from a attack she was born that way and grew up in a werewolf family. She's been cast out of her pack for something she did that was against the rules. She's dealing with her break up with Thorn the next alpha werewolf she's still in love with him so it's rough for her seeing him. So just like any other heartbroken she learned to deal with it in a way of collecting holiday items mainly Christmas ornaments. IT doesn't help she works at an antiques store run by a goblin where they deal with supernatural beings all day long.
Natalya is attending a support group for her hoarding issues where she's meets the handsome Nick who is also a hoarder at her support group. Nick also happens to have a thing for Natalya but she can't seem to get over Thorn. As if that's not enough she has to worry about the Long Island werewolf pack coming after her for something she did in her past.
I love werewolf books and this one was no exception I really enjoyed it. I started this book before heading to bed, and ended up reading it all before heading to bed. I loved Natalya she's a great character she's not perfect she has OCD and is a holiday hoarder. I'm kinda rooting for Nick because he stands up for her which is something I don't really see Thorn doing. I like all the different supernatural characters in the book it feels more like a community. I had to put the book down to tell my hubby the funny stuff going on in the story. Good thing he was staying up late or he may not have liked me waking him up. It's a fast paced story full of adventure to keeps you wanting more. I can't wait to read the next one I want to know what happens with Natalya. (less)
