Holy, flipping, moly!
I wasn't sure where this book was going 100%, at first...I mean, I had an inkling of an idea, just not the whole picture. Which was exactly what our main character was going through. I will not ruin this book but I can tell you that at the half way point, my husband asked me what the book was about and I honestly looked at him and said, " I'm not quite sure, yet." To which he laughed and then I had to explain what I could to him. Don't get me wrong, it was a wonderful kind of cluelessness. I love that the author was able to keep me guessing and on my toes.
I actually enjoyed the characters. Both heroes and villains. I found the main character Emma interesting and smart, to the point that while she may not have reacted in the way I wanted her to, she did it in a way to bring her safely closer to the truth, most times.
Expect some action and intrigue mixed into the plot. You won't get everything at once and it isn't until the final chapters that the lights are all turned on for the reader to see the full extent of the story. I suggest you don't read the end first, enjoy the ride.
The climax was what I was hoping for and the end had me wondering when the next book will be released. This one smells of a movie deal, once all the shelves are empty at the bookstores.
Great editing, which for me seals the deal for a full 5 stars. ...more

While, she did not ask me to review them, I am doing so, because I want to.
This is the third Nash book that I have read and she is still keeping me on my toes. I am impressed with how she is able to make each book completely different while keeping her work fresh and new.
This book treads on one of my secret fears; What would I do if I ever saw someone in the back of a trunk? I don't feel the need to elaborate on the story as I am not a reviewer who enjoys throwing in spoilers. The plot is solid and keeps the reader holding tight to the edges of each page and when the climax comes, you are flipping through them faster than a Rolodex.
Characters are believable and likeable, well, except for our villain, of course; No one should like that jerk.
The flow and editing were great. An easy read that can be completed in an hour or so and is appropriate for teens.
Thanks for the chance to sample some of your books Ms. Nash. I will be looking for more in the near future....more

Sometimes you run across a book quite by accident that you know will leave you wondering about the future. This is one of those books.
Without giving away too much of the book, as I always try not to do, I do want to say that even if one did not enjoy the tale, they would discover a lot of information that would be perfect in not only a power outage but in any situation that could possibly arise, like being stranded. I did feel there were a few things that seemed Utopian but also felt that Robitai gave a pretty good example of four different times of how one would live. In a community that comes together but in reality, doesn't change too drastically, in a sheltered colony, in a controlled commune and living solitary.
I have to rave at the font first and foremost. Larger print that is easier for a reader like me with extremely poor vision made this a dream to read...it also made it harder for me to not set down as eye strain was not a problem. Thank you, thank you!
The editing may have been the best I have seen in a long time. It is refreshing to see words spelled properly and easy sentences to read with proper grammar to boot! Another huge thank you!
The characters are believable and well developed. The plot was solid and the climax, while shorter than I expected, was brilliantly executed.
An all around wonderful book worth sitting on everyone's bookshelf...Who knows, there may be some information in there that you may find yourself relying on, if the power ever goes out... ...more

Anyone who knows me knows that I dislike romances...They are too predictable...They are repetitive and boring...They just aren't realistic...etc. etc.
Well, I was starting to think I had picked up another romance until...what's this? A twist? A twist with suspense and action?
This girl settled into her reading chair and settled in for the long haul. As I flipped pages, I could believe Melanie's character...I loved her doubt and her will to push through her fears. This couldn't be a romance. Melanie rocked! She was sharp witted, intelligent and resourceful. She did not need a man...Enter Andrew...Sigh...Rich, famous and handsome to boot...and in some serious trouble.
The writing is fast paced...hence, it couldn't be a romance. ;) Action at every corner and lots of comedic relief.
With my track record of not enjoying romances...and them not scoring well with me, I have to say with a sigh of relief, that this SUSPENCE/THRILLER is a hit in my books...One of my recommendations for what to read in 2013! ...more

Before I start, I have to say this has been a summer like no other...I received this book in early August and as soon as I could I was digging into this book...I had a feeling it was going to be right up my alley and had pretty high hopes for it. A few chapters into it and realized that I going to love it. I'm wondering if King and Koontz were inspirations to Bates, as the first chapter gave me chills! Suddenly, life seemed to get in the way for me and this book...I had one of the worse feelings in my life when I left on a ten day holiday. I did the unthinkable, I left this book on the table by the door. A head slap and tears proceeded as I hate, hate, hate trying to pick up a book and figure out where I left off. Especially one that had reeled me in so quickly.
I returned home and after plowing through all the work on my desk, preparing for school and family projects I was finally able to pick up this book again...Cringing and worrying I may be lost...I am about to give out an ultimate compliment now, so pay attention, fellow readers...I was able to pick up exactly where I left off and felt like I was reunited with an old friend and was able to pick up EXACTLY where I left off. Fantastic writing, at its best coupled with a memorable story! It will keep you so engrossed that I must also warn that when someone stops to talk to you....put down the book for a second and make sure you hear what the kids or your spouse are asking...I said yes to things that I would never say yes to...I have loads to explain and a lot of honey do jobs that I would normally never have agreed to.
The characters are believable and have realistic flaws and weaknesses. The plot was exciting and kept me wondering,"What next!?" Future movie deal here perhaps? Let's hope so!
I look forward to reading more from this author and would recommend this book for those who enjoy a book that keeps you guessing over and over again. And if anything, it may make you think twice about picking up a hitch hiker....or will it?...more

It's worth picking up and reading though if you enjoy a good mystery/thriller...it's complex and frustrating at times but worth it...I don't want to ruin it but I will be curious to see what others think......more
