I was looking for a read to sink my teeth into and forget the real world around me existed. Damaged Goods did exactly that. Miss Paton takes conventional romance, turns it on its head and dunks it right into ice water and that's what I like about this talented author's writing. If you're looking for sweet, tidy and perfect, then this is not the book for you. I would however still recommend you give it your best shot. It's gritty and hard hitting yet still manages to tug at the heart strings in the romance department. Miss Paton writes with such wit and charm that even the darkest moments surprise you with a line to make you smile. There is no doubt this author has a unique way with words. Her characters are so real you wonder how on earth they'll ever get out of the trouble she gets them into. She does so with admirable skill to reach a very satisfying ending. I was glued to this book and with every chapter hook, I kept turning because I simply could not put it down for wanting to know what happens next. A truly engaging, brilliant read, master penmanship and a unique voice....more

I totally enjoyed being stranded with Ewan, Lord Lyle. Lucky Charlotte! I would have said yes the minute he said hello. Another winner from Anna Campbell who is one of my favourite historical authors. Her characters are full of wit and charm, and I do love a strong-willed heroine. I loved that Charlotte's father wasn't the mean stereotype we usually come across in these novels, but instead was a loving one with his daughter's best interests at heart. Five stars for this sweet, tender story of love at first sight. ...more

It's why, a few centuries later, we still attract people to our shores. With Just One Suitcase is one of those stories that makes us a nation to be proud of.
Life is full of mysteries and Fate plays a massive part in the way our lives play out. Even more so for the two boys, Frici and Istvan - one Jewish, the other Catholic - and a war that destroyed dreams and innocence, yet gave strength and courage that ultimately built a nation.
With Just One Suitcase is an inspirational read that I believe should be in every school library as a tribute to those who made this country a great place to be....more

I thanked the grey, wintry weather and my RDO for the opportunity to lie in and finish Ms Christine's latest masterpiece. Romantic Suspense has long been my favorite genre and Lee Christine is shaping up nicely as a collector's item.

Each author brings their own twist and voice to the fictional town of Bindarra Creek. I love how characters from previous stories keep popping up and make this town so real. This was my first read from Lauren K McKellar and I am now hunting down previous books by this author as well as bookmarking new ones in the pipeline. Ms McKellar has a smooth and engaging voice that carries the story along nicely. I know I've enjoyed a read when I can go back and see how many lines I've highlighted that made me smile or nod. A few of my favourites from this read (no spoilers, I promise!) - "You took life by the horns and rode it to Bindarra Creek" , "[Love] can wither and die ... but even if it dies, you had the fruit. You drank the wine. Isn't that something?" This book had me engaged from start to finish with beautifully drawn characters, a touch of suspense and a heartfelt plot. And wine ... it had wine. Well done on another great episode in the lives of the people who bring Bindarra Creek to life....more

Darkhaven has great things going for it - a darkly handsome hero, villainous and downright nasty antagonists, surprising twists and a beautiful New Zealand setting. The only other addition it needed was to feature the All Blacks Rugby team doing the Haka and I'd be one ecstatic reader.
Fulfilling the requirements for a 'secret baby' trope and adding elements of 'forced proximity' and 'arranged marriage' made this a fast-paced, energetic read. The hero is very much a strong, dominant force and the heroine is no push-over either. The sparks flew beautifully and the kiss-and-make-up scenes were hot. This was an entertaining read with lovely, well-drawn characters. Bring on book 2, Ms Wine :)...more
