A battle between the Cankers (machines) and Darwinist (mutated nature) set in World War I Europe is such a great setting. Cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series.(less)

Started off slow, but it really picked up about 4 chapters in. For a few chapters there, I didn't want to put the book down. There was lots of action, a great twist, and then a sudden drop off. Everything just sort of ended, leaving me a bit let down. The last 2 chapters seemed rushed to wrap everything up, and it was very anti-climatic.
I Still really like Cherie Priest as an author and am looking forward to reading more of her books. Like I said, the middle of the book was very good, but the beginning and end were definitely lacking.(less)

I love the Tombstone story and was looking for a good alternate reality book. Having no preconceived expectations for this book, it definitely delivered. It followed the Tombstone chain of events everyone knows and loves very well, but had just enough twist to separate it from all the other renditions of that story. This was one I could not put down, and finished it cover to cover in about 2 days. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys the story of Tombstone, especially if your a fan of Doc Holliday. (less)
