I think we will be heading back to a more basic Buffy, then all the supernatural flying in the air, glowing green Buffy that we had during season eight.
The decisions Buffy had to make in order to save her friends and the world are not the ones that her friends all necessary agree with, in fact I believe Buffy may just have more enemies than ever before and not all of them are demons. Magic is gone from the world. What will Willow and the other Wiccans do now? My heart broke at the life that was lost in this story. One of my favourite characters killed by another one of my favourite characters.....ahhhhhhh!!!!
I can't wait to see how the story line continues on, especially around the Angel, Twilight, and Riley situation as well as with Spike. ...more

It may be an extension of the original if I’m not mistaken. I really enjoyed it though. I’m going to have to look it up though, because it’s bothering me now that I can’t place it.
Marty a student at the school aspires to be a famous movie director, and stumbles across an old film case labelled “The final Cut” he takes it home to watch and discovers that the leading character in the movie is actually able to talk to him directly. He strikes a deal with the character trapped in the film and has no qualms about stepping on a few people to make it to the top and achieving his dream.
This collectors kit also comes with the Claddagh ring that Buffy and Angel wear to symbolize their relationship as well as the cross Buffy wears that Angel gave her and a small vile of holy water. It’s a great kit for any serious Buffy Fan. *laughing* I’m such a Buffy geek :0) ...more

It's amazing how they were able to continue this series and do things that they probably would not have been able to pull off on film. In this volume we get to find out why Buffy is all of a sudden gaining more power and the identity behind Twilight. We also get to the bottom of an old mythical tale the Watchers have been hiding of centuries as no one knew if it was true or not.
At the end of this volume is a continuation of a small separate story about Willow on her journey of discovering her journey as a witch. It’s a very interesting little side tale. ...more

The Hollower is a demon that is plaguing the vampire population; it sucks their demon souls out and leaves a hollow dead shell of a body. Some may wonder, "How is that a bad thing? Is the Demon not doing everyone a favour?" well in a sense yes, but it comes with a price, a very costly price. Angel has dealt with this creature before in the past, but was unable to destroy it. It's now up to Buffy, Angel and Giles to get to the bottom of how to destroy this ancient evil.
I was actually a little disappointed in the lack of the Scooby gang in this story. I'm so used to having Willow, Xander, Cordy and Oz around that it feels kind of weird when they are not. Almost wrong! ;o)

Selke is the villain and is trying to recover her beauty after Buffy sent her and her lair up in flames.
I was a little disturbed by Buffy having to give her mother advice on why not to get plastic surgery, which just seemed bizarre to me and a bit out of character for Joyce Summers. Call me picky but I didn’t like that plot line. The ghoul’s where fun and I found it hilarious who they ended up being in the story. ...more

It is a bunch of short vampire stories all pieced together into one larger story. Very interesting! I actually had a bit of a hard time putting it down at night as I wanted to see what was going to happen next. My favourites of the many stories was the one of Spike and Dru (of course, who can resist them), and then the overall story of the watcher children in training. A few of the others had some great potential but where not long enough or involved enough for my tastes. ...more

MaybeSo I'm going to have to say compared to some of the other stellar Buffy stories out there this was definitely one of my least favourite so far! Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Sunnydale is being invaded by bugs (ewww bugs) or better yet maybe it had something to do with the fact that it evolved human sized bugs.
In this story Sunnydale is hit by a heat wave and with that come swarms of insects, also Giles has a new lady friend in his life that he's dating. Buffy is trying to deal with the fact that Riley is in the hospital while also trying to figure out what's going on with the human size bugs. Oh yeah and I almost forgot to mention the bugs have a contraption that is turning regular folks into giant mutant bugs. (shudder) ...more

The storI had been waiting to read this for quite a while, and I’m glad I did. It was a pleasant surprise to see that Pike was included in this story.
The story starts off with Buffy living in LA with both her parents and Dawn. She is about to go in front of the disciplinary board to see if she can be reinstated in school after the gym burned down. Of course everyone blames her, and does not understand that she actually saved the school and her fellow students.
Pike and Buffy are still seeing each other and have teamed up to destroy the vamps in town, when they stumble across some vampires who are carrying coins for the “Golden touch” casino in Vegas. Buffy is determined to go there and find out what’s happening and then put an end to it.
Meanwhile in London at the Watchers Council they are trying to decide who to assign to be the Slayers next Watcher, as they are presuming the worst has happened to Merrick as he has not checked in. Rupert Giles is up against another watcher for the position.
Angel also makes an appearance in this story. :0) ...more

This storyOnce again Christopher Golden has written a great story, I just could not put it down. He is definitely one of my favourite Buffy writers.
This story takes place during season four when Willow and Buffy start College. Buffy’s having some trouble trying to manage all aspects of her life and finds that she’s spreading herself too thin and not giving school or slaying her best. Buffy makes a mistake that has some dire consequences.
Spike and Dru appear in the story, with Spike having more of a main roll. There are some fantastic new villains, and I just loved how Christopher Golden drops little bits here and there regarding characters you may remember from past stories. Not essential to the current story, but fun for those of us who have read a few and can say “hey, it’s....” :0)
The illustrations are great, and the detail that was put into designing some of the new monsters was awesome. A definite must read for any Buffy fan. ...more

Angel is finding himself not having to go out and hunt the demons anymore, they are all coming to him. Some of them so rare that they were thought of as extinct and they are all very angry with Angel for sending the girl to kill them and their friends. What Girl???
Well the mystery is soon revealed as Alexa Landry stops terrorizing the demons and starts going after Angel's friends, putting both Cordy and Wesley in the hospital. This is one of those rare times were we get a cross over and Buffy and the scoobies come to L.A to assist.
What they discover on so many levels is that the past never really goes away, it always comes Back to haunt you.
I definitely recommend this to any Buffy or Angel fan!...more

The first story revolves around this demon that jumps through portals in time and a Slayer from the 11th century that is following it. Buffy and the gang have to figure out why it seems to be targeting Buffy and why they ended up here in our time.
The second story revolves around some unusual happenings such as maggots spilling out of Buffy’s school bag and rat’s coming after her in the cafeteria, and they all seem to be linked to what I can only describe as some little leprechaun with Voodoo powers. I know, but I’m really not sure what he was supposed to be.
As I said I thought the stories were not up to par, I think the reason for my feelings are that they seemed rushed where as so much more could have been done with them. Maybe only focus on one story, instead of two so that they can be done justice instead of trying to cram two into one book.
Oh well I know there are many more really good ones out there waiting for me to read them. :0) ...more

Especially when there is so much to write about with the new stronger vamps on the bad blood, and Selke hashing out her big bad plan in the background and wait one small sene with Spike and Dru? For real that's all we get, come on they are like the über couple they deserve so much more page time.
Also I would have liked more info into the story line of Willow and Cordy at the competition, that whole plot line seemed over as soon as it got interesting.
With so many incredible Buffy writers out there this one just seemed rushed and not up to standards. Let's hope the next ones more up to par....more

In the first part of the story we find out that Buffy's mum has passed away and Buffy is trying to deal with it all now that the distractions of planning a funeral are over. However in the mist of all this, a grieving mother is seeking revenge on the slayer for killing her daughter (flash back to "Autumnal", Verena the voodoo girl), and has concocted quite the hair brain scheme.
In the second part of the story emotions are all running hay wire as accusations of jealousy and theft are thrown back and forth between team Xander / Anya and team Willow / Tara. Three little Demons who have been compared to gremlins in personality are on the loose and feeding off of all the negative emotions. Top that all off with a dose of Spike just trying to help the slayer and getting nothing but grief back for his efforts and you are in the middle of a Buffy episode.
I would recommend this one to anyone who enjoyed the Buffy TV show. ...more

I enjoyed the plot line of their being a look alike imposter sent in to get in with the Scooby gang and then kill Buffy. The problem with the imposter is she’s not quite channelling Buffy right, I mean really obsessed with clothes and name brands. I’m surprised Cordy didn’t have more to say about it. My favourite quote from the entire story is displayed on the back of the comic, Giles says “Have her come see me. I don’t like where this is going. The situation is too serious for the slayer to go.... Cordy.” Oh I just killed myself laughing. Selke makes a very interesting Villain and I can’t wait to read some more of the series to learn more about her. Yet another very fast and exciting read. We get to learn more about Giles in this instalment and what his goals for California, the slayer and the future are. Giles’s character as “The Big Bad” was quite ingenious, as Giles was quite the intellectual character and had such a vast knowledge of demons and Slayers, specifically Buffy as he trained her, making him very dangerous.
It’s interesting to see how Xander, Willow and Oz turn out in this alternate future as well. Everyone has changed so much, become harder and more serious. The relationships and the dynamics of the team have changed. I was also surprised at how quickly well known characters can be killed off. Did not see that coming!
I definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys Buffy. I think this series would honestly have made a great 2 part season finally. I love Christopher Golden’s Buffy novels.
