I wouldn't keep reading them if I hadn't started years ago with the first when she really wrote a great book. Her depression and negativity seeps into her writing and her characters have gone over to the 'dark side'. Another thing that bothers me is Kay will be talking to another character and her thoughts are on something else entirely which make it a little confusing.
Maybe her next one will be good.......... [the eternal optimist] (less)

We have flesh eating termites, genetic engineered corn, a questionable President, and so much more. It's one page of action after another!!! (less)

As she got into deep trouble I found myself not caring if she got out of it or not! Finally at the end of the book Cook's great reoccurring character Jack Stapleton and his wife Laurie appeared but had a small cameo role. (less)

After her characters turned 'dark' I have had trouble reading her books. When I saw the size of this book [over 500 pages] I groaned thinking it would take me a week to get through it. But when I started it I found myself absorbed in the plot and finished it in 2 days. Perhaps I should have given it 5 stars since it was so above her latest books, but then again I'm still disappointed in the direction she took Kay, Marinero, Benton and Lucy. Also, it bothers me when Kay is having a conversation with someone and thinking of something else entirely which can confuse the reader. (less)

Then to make it worse I watch last night's Hawaii 5-0 and guess what the plot is--- you got it - chemical warfare!!

I gave it 3 stars because it is so much better than her last one, but it doesn't compare to her earlier Scarpetta series. This one is too long, too wordy, and just seems to ramble. The plot was good-- or maybe I should say the main plot was good, but she just seemed to jump around from one plot to the other. I would say it all came together at the end but I really don't think it did. There were a lot of unanswered questions but by the time I finished the book I had forgotten what they were!!! Just thankful to finish it!(less)

I read an article where Reichs stated the Bones series shows Temperance in her younger days where the books portray her about 10 years later. I guess she should know!! (less)

A woman lays in a coma from a hit and run- she can hear and understand those around her. Needless to say she learns things she was never meant to hear including her murder plot. I guess the moral of the story is to never say anything around a coma patient you wouldn't want them to know!!! It was a very quick read that I could finish in one day without having to skip work, food, sleep or even my baseball games!(less)

I apprecite this author who doesn't give up his talent to mass produce too many weak books. (less)

I have no intention to go to a foreign country to have surgery so I wasn't worried about it happening to me. I never could connect Temperance Brennan of the books with Temperance Brennan of the series. At the end of the book she has a set of Q & A in which she explains the tv series is the early Temperance and the book is the later Temperance. (less)
