When I first the synopsis for this manga, I thought it was fascinating and creepy. I'm not a fan of horror films and after reading this manga, I am definitely not a fan of horror manga.
SYNOPSIS (from MAL) "A boy went to take his trash out late one night, and found a strange, creepy, lolita woman sitting amongst the garbage bags. She asked if he had a little sister, and he answered her, hurrying afterwards back to his apartment. When he looked out the window, she was gone. Who is the strange woman, and why does she give him such a bad feeling?"
STORY - 8 Out of all the horror stories I've heard in film, tv, anime and manga, this is definitely unique. It is completely unpredictable, which will always make you hanging on the edge of your seat, wondering what happens next. For me, I was contemplating why I was reading it because it was so scary but had to read on, just so I could know what happened in the next chapter.
ART - 8 The art of this manga suits it perfectly. I mean the artwork for the lolita was amazingly scary with the hollow eyes and dirty clothes, that you didn't particularly want to look at her too long. All of the horror scenes were drawn very well as well as the backgrounds.
CHARACTER - 9 Throughout the manga, the characters' personalities are consistent. Especially the lolita, who was scary as hell from start to finish. I mean if I ever came across a girl sitting amongst the garbage bags, I'd definitely turn the other way.. since I've read this manga, I'd more likely walk fast paced or even run away...
ENJOYMENT - 8 I'm saying 8 because despite how freaked out I was while reading this (always questioning why I was reading and hoping it would end soon), it was so enjoyable to read. I love reading something, where you are on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what happens in the next chapter or scene. Each scene relating to the lolita made me want to read on, curious to see what was her problem. I do admit there were a couple of scenes where I felt like screaming because I was so freaked out(!)
As I've noticed in other reviews, people aren't saying the manga isn't scary, but it is clear that they are used to the horror genre. So to those who aren't a huge fan of horror, such as myself, I don't think I'd recommend it.
OVERALL - 9 This is a really great horror story which you'll want to keep reading until the end (or wish you were at the end, if you aren't into horror). But if you love horror, then this is the manga for you!(less)
The story follows Monkey D. Luffy,...moreSince this is the first volume of One Piece, one of the top mangas and is ranked sixth on My Anime List Top Manga.
The story follows Monkey D. Luffy, a 17 year old boy that has a dream of finding One Piece (the greatest treasure in the world that promises an unlimited amount of fame and money) and becoming the pirate king. When he was young he ate the Devil Fruit 'Gomu Gomu no Mi' which made him rubber. This is unfortunate for Luffy as he is unable to swim, which is a weakness for a pirate.
One Piece volume 1 chapter 1 page 22
In these first eight chapters, they explore Luffy's past with Shank and his decision to wanting to become the pirate king and also finding One Piece.
In this volume, you get to learn about Luffy's past with Shank which leads to wanting become the pirate king as well as finding One Piece. It the beginning of Luffy's journey, so you'll also come across some people who join his crew.
Right now, there is currently 65 volumes of the series, so you can tell that Luffy's experiences to finding One Piece will be a long one. No matter how long Luffy's journey is, I'm looking forward to what happens in the next chapter.(less)
