I'll give it a chance. this book was definitely an early book for this author. it got long and windy and I was so excited for it to finally be done and everything be tied up. in addition, there were some huge editing mistakes that seemed generally elementary. the plot was funny and made me laugh out loud a few times. sometimes ridiculous, the poor girl, Clair, must have hit her head two dozen times. she spent only a couple days at the estate but the author kept saying she had been there nearly a week. Clair gets tangled up in a mess when she is forced to do a tarot card reading for a young bride with cold feet. from there, she travels to the estate of the groom to return the engagement ring. things spiral downward from there....more

I'm married and have five kids so I'm almost the opposite of this Andrea. I couldn't imagine the loneliness of this life like she can't imagine the obligations of mine. I sometimes think of the spontaneity I miss because of my obligations some of the carefree, sleep until I wake up, cook when I'm hungry not when someone else is, travel where and when I want. I almost wanted to hate her irresponsibility, her fast track to no where, her lack of a plan or a goal and then the ending happened. I will not ruin it but I liked her a whole lot more toward the end....more

I have three younger sisters and our relationships are on and off and have so many dimensions. right now we are going thru a rough sister period and I don't know if we will ever recover. that's why I picked up this book. Ainsley and Kate are half sisters. they share a father. who's been married three times. the first and third time to Kate's mother and the second time to Ainsley's mother who passed away when Ainsley was three. their relationship has had its ups and downs and now, as both sisters are going thru a rough time in their lives, the find that tragedy brings People together. also, there's always that sibling that seems to have the perfect life and everything comes easy to them. there's always the sibling who ends up dutifully tied to family. there's always the sibling who takes the lumps and bumps as life brings them....more

I wish it would have gone a different direction. I wish she would have done the right thing and told them what she knew. even if Alice was already murdered, at least she would have a clear conscientious. to me, I guess their early relationship is worth a lot less than a young girls life. also, I came to despise Yasmine because she was so willing to overlook all these terrible things to have a friend instead of making some changes to herself to be a good person and gain friends the normal way. just my two cents....more

I'm looking forward to this self proclaimed historical factual account of the life and death of Jesus. no matter your beliefs, you can't deny the impact this one man has had on the world. believe or don't, but the fact that he existed and his story serves as a guide to so many these thousands of years later just can't be denied.
after completing the book, I'm at a loss of what to do next. I enjoyed the historical aspects of this book. the violence, why leaders were where they were, who was in charge of what, how things were done, all of this was interesting and absolutely staggering to me. I had no idea. that being said, I see a lot of liberal use of "fact" vs hypothesis. I have read and heard the biblical telling of this story. I have heard and seen dramatizations. but I have never been given such historic detail. and with that, I don't know if I need to dig deeper or leave it be. do I need to do my own research or just live with what I've heard with this book serving as my historical background resource. I honestly am not a fan of history books. I wouldn't have picked this up except that it's so close to lent and the title intrigued me. anyhow, I thought it was good and actually slowed my reading because I didn't really want to hear the graphic details of the torture and crucifixion of Jesus....more
