I also thought the setting added an interesting spin, that it was set 10 years after they had spent a night together. We didn't get to see the chase or the seduction, but we saw how it affected them in the long run. This was surprisingly romantic, even though Robert Cuffe was a man of few words, and they mostly just ran around helping Noel's neighbours, but you could still feel how much they cared about each other, despite their strange history. It was such an unexpected connection, but neither of them could deny it. And in the end, when they finally came together, it was so tender. I wish there were more to this story. ...more

The kind of person who would have been picked on even if he wasn't gay, just because he was so small and socially awkward. Its really hard to believe how cruel kids can be sometimes. I really hated seeing the things Lucas' classmates did to him. It really wasn't fair. Just because he didn't defend himself and he had a passion for music? Ridiculous. He was such a great person, if they only would have given him a chance. He was smart, and he respected and loved his parents, was an honest and loyal friend to Alex and Trish. And despite all the mistreatment, he admired and loved his brother. I am so glad that he was able to get past it all in the end.
I really enjoyed how the book focused a lot more on Lucas' journey, than on a romance. It was still very romantic, but it took almost half the book before we even knew who the romantic interest was going to be. I really did not enjoy that parts with Donovan though. He was such a jerk and the parts with him and Lucas together made me uncomfortable. I feel bad that Lucas didn't see the situation clearly sooner, but at least he dumped his ass eventually. He may have had some good intentions, he seemed like a decent friend to Trish, but mostly he was just selfish. Alex on the other hand was amazing. He confused me sometimes and I had trouble trying to figure out his motives. In the end I had to settle on the fact that he is just the greatest person ever. Its that simple.
And of course I loved Zach. He was big and muscly and hot, but at the same time he was so deep and sensitive and he had a soul that matched Lucas'. No one else would have been able to understand Lucas the way Zach did, to anticipate his needs and fears and insecurities. Despite everything, Lucas is still only 17, and with that comes common teenage insecurities about sex and body image. And Zach was so patient and reassuring. You know he would wait forever for Lucas, because as much as Lucas needs him, he needs Lucas too. The poetry he wrote for Lucas was so intense, even more so because he wrote it before approaching Lucas and really getting to know him. He needed Lucas' passion and honesty and goodness. You could really see how broken Zach was after they fought and he thought that he had lost Lucas forever. Somehow, despite everything he has been put through by others, and the fact that he is so quiet and mostly isolated, Lucas still seems like a light. There was a brightness in him. And no one saw that more than Zach....more

Hank was a real mystery. I was trying to figure him out right along with Sloane. It was a fun journey. It took longer than I would have expected, but it really paid off in the end. I was surprised by the sex scene at the end. It was hot, but it felt too soon. But I enjoyed it, and Sloane is just so adorable. I loved him. He was a hot little top....more

I kind of enjoyed the fact that it was from Mick's POV only. We got to see how he felt about Fielding, and understood his action, and that his reactions to Fielding started even before the kiss. Just the fact that Fielding mentioned kissing was enough that it would have happened anyways, even if not for instructional purposes.
I love how Mick was such a great person from the beginning, and it wasnt one of those stories where love changes him. I love those too, but I just enjoyed Mick from the beginning. And Fielding was just too adorable. Fielding changed more than Mick, but that was more outward, as Mick taught him how to dress and workout and gave him a bit of a dude makeover.
Their relationship was too cute, even just as friends. Mick looked out for him so much, and felt so protective whenever he was hurt. His life sort of revolved around Fielding and again, I think his feelings would have become clear eventually anyways.
Considering how cute and adorable this story was, I really wasn't expecting their kiss to turn so sexy. Like whoa! But I definitely enjoyed it. It shocked me but I could have still done with more. :P What can I say, I enjoy MM smut more than MF smut, even though I still read more MF romance overall.
The epilogue was perfect! Every book needs to end this way. I enjoyed Mick's family and I loved how hard they were trying even though they were uncomfortable. They even wanted to see them kiss. It was so cute. I really wish I could have more of Mick and Fielding and I think I may reread this story again this Christmas season. ...more

It revolved around sex quite a bit, and helping Casey deal with what was done to him when he was younger. It was talked about openly and often. There were a fair deal of sex scenes, and even starts out with one in the first chapter. But considering all that, its still fairly mild. Its graphic enough, but it has just as many sex scenes that are just mentioned and then skipped over. Its still very sexy, but not erotic.
Very surprisingly for me, I prefer Lon over Casey. Casey was the damaged one, but Lon is the one that took care of him. He was so sweet and did so much for Casey. He embraced him in his life almost immediately and gave him so much. This is pretty much the first time that I didn't prefer the bottom. I have always preferred the bottom in the past except for a couple of times when the couple was evenly matched.
This story was great, with a lot of great characters, not too much drama, and a perfect ending....more
