A different world from Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series, but with a familiar feel. I think fans of that series would also enjoy this.
The main character is Lily, and the book had the alternating POV of Lily, Zephyr, and Eilidh (pronounced like Hayley). It is set in an alternate reality where humans and fae are at war. There are seven mixed blood faeries who pass as human and are a guerilla group for the faery queen called the Seven Black Diamonds, who go to a prestigious private school. When Lily enrolls in the school she meets the group and becomes friends with them, and learns a lot more about herself and her heritage.
Zephyr is the group's leader, and although he means well, he is super annoying. I don't really like him. Eilidh is the faery princess who tries to help them from the inside. I am not sure what role she will play in the story yet, but I like her and her betrothed, Torquil. I wish them nothing but happiness and sweet dreams. ;) Creed was another member of the group and Lily's love interest. He never had his own POVs which I wish he did instead of Zephyr. He was totally swoon worthy.
There are a lot of players in this game and I look forward to finding out what will happen with the courts, and also among the group. There are a seven of them, plus the queen's meddling so there are endless possibilities for relationships there. I am glad to have another faery series to look forward to. And maybe we will get to know Will and Roan better.

It was still a bit too slow, and I found the resolution way too convenient. But the Darkling is still one of the best characters ever written in YA, and I teared up for him on multiple occasions.
And although the epilogue was almost sickly sweet, it was so perfect that I loved it. I don't remember Alina being a painter though. Is that something new or I just forgot? I read book 1 so long ago.
Oh, and I love Nikolai. I almost feel like Alina should have been with him instead of Mal. Mal was always a bit dull but he won me over a bit in the last book with his incredible loyalty. ...more

I hadn't read any of these short stories before, not even the ones that were released long ago. I am not the biggest fan of this series so I never bothered to read them. But I figured now that they are all released in a convenient anthology I might as well read them. I don't think I can rate all the stories individually. I cant really think to rank them either. So what I am going to do is clump them.
Glitches and After Sunshine Passes By were my least favourite. They were totally pointless. Little glimpses into the characters past but they didn't tell us anything new.
The Keeper and The Princess and the Guard were a little interesting but still didn't really contribute anything new.
The Queen’s Army and Carswell’s Guide to Being Lucky were pretty good. I found the story of Wolfe becoming an Alpha interesting, which really surprises me because I never really cared for him. Thorne on the other hand is probably my third favourite character after Cinder and Kai, so I am not surprised that this story of a teenage Thorne was pretty cute.
The Little Android, The Mechanic, and Something Old, Something New were my favourite stories. The Little Android was extremely romantic. Unrequited love can still be true. *tear* I loved The Mechanic since Kai and Cinder are the best couple and the reason I kept coming back to this series. So their first meeting from Kai's POV is pretty much the most perfect thing for me. And Something Old, Something New had everything we were missing in Winter. I felt that Winter was a bit incomplete since we dont see a lot of what happens after. But this was set 2 years later so we find out what happened on Luna, and that all the couples are still together, and of course we get confirmation of Kai and Cinder's HEA. I am so glad it was from Cinder's POV instead of Scarlet since Scarlet is my very least favourite character. And although the story was about her and Wolfe, all the characters were back and Cinder and Kai made me love it. When I heard that there was a wedding at the end of Stars Above, for some reason I assumed it was Winter and Jacin. *shrug*...more

Amani was a great heroine . I loved seeing her grow during her journey and change and become a better person, as well as become stronger in her powers. When we finally learn what her powers are it just seems totally perfect and it suits her. The mythology and history of their world is vast and detailed and I cant wait to learn more about it....more
