Her mother mysteriously left them in the middle of the night in the last book. The family is still realing from her leaving, confused and hurt as to why Lettie would just up and leave. Grace broke of her engagement in the last book, and now a previous almost beau has started coming around to help out her father. It's lamb season, and with his wife gone, he can use all the help he can get, so he's greatful to Yonnie. Yonnie's family is originally from Indiana, and Grace discovers that his family does a lot of things different than "normal" Amish people, but it's not because they're from another state/Ordnung. They just choose to do things differently. But Yonnie, although he doesn't always act the way he's expected to, is a huge help and brings a refreshing change to Grace's family.
Meanwhile we learn more and more about the Englisher - Heather, a young woman that although isn't Amish, is drawn to the culture, and takes a summer hyatis in Lancaster, staying with Grace's best friend Becky's family, just down the road.... (less)

I am still amazed how she pulls me into the story, and I feel as if I'm part of it all.
This is Annie's story. She's the preacher's daughter and at the age of 20, still hasn't joined the church. Being Amish, and the preacher's daughter, this is not "normal". It's not that she doesn't want to join the church, she's Amish through and through, but she also has an artistic talent, that is several frowned upon in her Ordnung. She already lost her beau because of her unwillness to join.
She has an Englisher pen pal, and has for years. Although they are aware of the fact that she corresponds with Louisa, they do not know that she encourages Annie in her drawing/painting. Louisa doesn't realize that this is such a serious offense either though.
Louisa comes from a very well to do family, being an only child, her parents hand picked her husband, and she just realized this very shortly before their wedding. Her mother has turned their wedding into the ultimate day, no expense is spared, but Louisa feels this is a circus, and she wants nothing more than to have a small, intimate affair. When she explains this to her intended, she realizes that he's as materialistic as her parents, and she quickly gets disenchanted. Maybe some time away will give her some perspective?
Annie's best friend was married about 6 years before. She has several children already, and although she used to be so happy before, she seems more and more depressed and is distancing herself from everyone, even Annie. Annie is beyond worried and doesn't know what to do to help her dear friend. Surely it's not her husband?
I don't want to give to much away, but suffice it to say, that this is anaother great book!(less)

I stopped reading only because it was past my bed time, and I couldn't keep my eyes open. Unless I can't find the time this weekend, I will most likely devour this one! Looks very promising. I can't wait to read more!
I will write more later, but this book was amazing! I knew it had great promise, and I was right! WOW. New favorite author!!!(less)

This is the first time I've attempted to listen to a book, and I don't care for it. Since I'm not actively reading the book, I feel as if I should be doing something else while listening, and then I lose my attention for the book, because I'm cleaning, etc. I will give it a try for a few more stories, maybe, but I might give up on it for now until I can find the actual book.
I found a way that worked for the most part, but I'd still rather actually read the book then just listen. I ended up finishing the book. The stories were okay, some better than others though. I listened to them all except The Path by S. J Rozan, that one was beyond annoying, and I quickly skipped past it. I do not believe that I've read any books by anyone other than Charleine Harris and Heather Graham (fromthis anthology), so I will give most of them a try with one of their full length novels - assuming I can actually read them!
The 2 narrators, Amanda Ronconi and MacLeod Andrews were amazing!(less)

I fell in love with Nellie and her family. Except maybe Rhoda, I didn't really like her. I really enjoy Beverly Lewis's writing, she draws in the reader. I'm not sure if it's just her writing about the Amish, but I find the subject just fascinating.

I just happened upon the book at the library and thought it looked and sounded interesting. I haven't gotten very far into it yet, and I looked at some of the reviews. I see that although I am in the minority for absolutely loving the book, I am not the only one that felt the same way.
I've read other Christian fiction and I love the few Amish books I've read, but this one just isn't drawing me into the story, as most of the books I read.
I will give it a few more chapters to see if something catches my attention or not. I like the characters and the dialogue, just something is missing. Since this is the first book I've read by this author, maybe I don't like her style? I don't know. But like I said, I'll give it a little more time. And maybe a different series by the same author might make a world of difference.
9/9/14 - I kept with it and I'm about half way through, and it's a little better.(less)

A few weeks before, she decided to tell off one of her clients (a very popular, gorgeous male actor - Simon), and then his manager decided to teach her a lesson by convincing her entire clientele that she was bad news, and everyone abandoned her PR company, joining another one. She was suddenly very worried not only about herself, but also her employees.
Then she realizes she has to eat crow and apologize to try to get some of her clients back and save her company. Meanwhile, one of her well meaning employees decide another tactic...which puts her in hot water. Suddenly a bad situation just got a whole lot worse! ...
So she puts her pride aside and between her and Ian (Simon, the ex client's manager) they come up with a way to save Simon from his ex-wife/and allow him to repair his image enough to get at least visitation rights to his son Ty). Except that idea backfires on her too. This is getting interesting fast....(less)

They were so perfect for each other, they just didn't want to see it. I know it's only a book, but this is the type I love, because I feel as if I'm one of their friends/family members experiencing everything right along with them. I just wish I really as, so that I could give them advice - not that either one would have taken it, they were so hard headed, they had to realize it on their own. Mary was so funny, the way she gave Marcus a hard time.
This is another great author. Some pretty steamy scenes too, which is okay by me! I've been borrowing her books from the library, but I can see myself reading them again, so I might just have to buy the whole series for myself!
I literally read the book in a day, I just could not put it down! Thank you Bella Andre for writing what has so far been an amazing series!(less)
