It fell apart a little for me at the end which why it is a 3 and not a 4. But I very much enjoyed the author's voice and the world she created. A great combo of my fair lady, a fairytale and a little bit of steampunk thrown in. Fun! (less)

Everything changes though when she discovers the grandfather she thought was dead, is very much alive. Leaving, she goes to find the truth about herself and unravel the strange story behind why her father has refused to touch her- not once in her entire life.
Eyes of Lightening has some wonderful Native American stories and legends woven through it, which were not only entertaining but very interesting as well. The setting was beautiful and well described without going overboard.
Often times I find myself knowing what will happen in the story, not the case here. The author wrote in such a way that I could not guess what would happen next. But when it did happen, it made sense. I hate those books where they throw a plot twist in and you are like, WHAT!? The author gave you enough clues so it flowed, without tipping you off as to where she was going. Very beautiful and skilled writing.
I found myself smiling quite a few times at both the character interactions and the way she would describe things. Such as this; " Attraction hit me like a train, leaving me breathless. Muscle-heads weren't my type, but a muscle-head who likes to read? Was this a new subspecies of boy I hadn't met before?" Lol! So cute!
This book was written in first person, which is often hard for me to get though in the YA genre. But the dialogue and thoughts in Eyes of Lightning were appropriate for the age of the character without being too juvenile. I enjoyed it very much.
For you parents; this is a very clean YA book. No language, no sex or sexual innuendoes. Defiantly a book you can let any teenager read without being worried about content.
There is a very strong religious thread running through this book- although I would not call it a religious book. The main character does refer to the Bible to help get her though hard times and a few Bible references are quoted. I did not feel like it was overdone or heavy handed. Not preachy at all, just woven in.
I would strongly recommend this book to lovers of the YA genre. Beautifully written, great flow! Read it guys! Just read it!(less)

This book fell a little flat for me though and it was the first one of hers to do that. Honestly- it felt like she had to drag it out so that there could be fourth book. Much slower- not enough of Han, not enough and Han and Raisa. I was so super excited for this one too! I am very much looking forward to the fourth book which should be much more like the first two. I loved loved loved the concept. So fun, such a great idea. Was very disappointed on the deliverance. POV changes mid chapter, back and forth for example. And the romance felt very very odd. Realized at the end that it was written that way on purpose, but it should have been slipped in much earlier so you could enjoy the book. (less)

I very much enjoyed most of it. Did not enjoy the severe change of personality with cy, not once, but twice. The severity of his flips were not in line with the triggers and that really bothered me.
