When mega movie star and two time Academy Award winner, Austin Grainger voluntarily gave up his dazzling film career, his adoring fan base thSynopsis:
When mega movie star and two time Academy Award winner, Austin Grainger voluntarily gave up his dazzling film career, his adoring fan base thought he’d lost his mind. For Austin, the seclusion of fifteen hundred acres in the middle of Texas sounds like paradise. No more cameras, paparazzi, or overzealous media to hound him every day and night. Little did the sexiest man alive know when one door closes, another usually opens. And Austin’s opened by way of a sexy, hot ranch owner right next door.
Kitt Kelly wasn’t your average rancher. He’s young, well educated and has hidden his sexuality for most of his life. When his long time wet dream materializes as his a new neighbor it threatens everything he holds dear. No way the ranching community would ever accept him if he came out. With every part of his life riding on the edge, can Kitt risk it all for a chance at love or will responsibility to his family heritage cost him his one chance at happiness?
This wasn't too bad. Typical Kindle Alexander fare. The heroes have an immediate connection and it's basically a love at first sight thing.
The drama generally comes from Kitt's being terrified of being outed. Austin, for his part, doesn't give a damn. He wants his privacy, but he doesn't care who knows that he's gay. He's left the world of Hollywood behind and is much happier for it. He keeps doing the hiding thing because of Kitt. And while I understood why Kitt hid so much, it was driving me fucking insane that he kept distancing himself from Austin so much. Every time Austin made a breakthrough with Kitt, Kitt pulled back again. It took much too long for that man to get his act together and put his trust in Austin. I actually wanted to hit him. Austin put up with a lot for Kitt. He had his faults, too. He could be pushy at times. That's something I've noticed in Kindle's books. One guy is always so ready to scream their love to the skies and the other is terrified about someone finding out about them. I wouldn't mind so much as long as that aspect of the book didn't feel so drawn out all of the time.
Some actual drama does come up once the paparazzi really get involved. Then there was this sort of secondary storyline about an old ranch hand of Kitt's dad's that I really didn't think was necessary. It was unexpected and maybe provided some perspective, but it annoyed me a little.
Now, the entire book didn't annoy me. Kitt and Austin have some very sweet moments and they definitely have some hot sex. When Kitt wasn't fretting so much, things were actually pretty good between them. They could be a bit sappy at times, especially Austin, but they were certainly in love and I did enjoy reading about that....more
