Jane really does grow up a lot in this book. And as per usual, hilarity did ensue. I love Jane and Gabriel together and I really liked Jamie. Grandma Ruthie finally gets what she deserves and I was surprised to like Jane's mom and her sister Jenny much more than I had before. Honestly, I did not see who was responsible for Jamie's death and then turning coming. I was actually surprised by that. Everything did get resolved pretty neatly. If that's the end of the series, it was handled pretty well. Awesome book, Mrs. Harper....more

She talks to animals. Really, I had so much fun reading her story. I found myself wondering if she really was going to it. She pulled it off. I don't know if it's weird that I felt proud of her for that, but I did.
I really wasn't sure what to expect with this book, though I figured there would be humor. I was even funnier than I expected and I loved that. I especially loved Maggie's interactions with God and her murder mentor, Patrick. I was just waiting for those two to get closer, but he kept pulling back. Then there was Paul. Sneaky Paul. He is so up to something. I didn't want to believe it at first, but his focus on gems and robbers is highly suspect. Is he even really attracted to Maggie? That dude has some anger issues.
I liked the way this ended, but I want to know more. I want to find out what Paul is up to and if Maggie's and Susan's feelings about Templeton are warranted. I want to see what could develop between Maggie and Patrick and see Katie wake up. Not to mention find out who's beating up Archie for info about those gems. I can't help but feel that Paul is involved in that.
I have to say, I'd definitely recommend this book to people. I find I rather like J.B. Lynn's writing style. I've gotta read more from her....more

She truly cracks me up with her writing and her heroines get into the most ridiculous situations. I'm always left wondering how they manage to survive through life. Those two just got into the most impossible disasters and I loved it. That douche Jason got what he deserved. Claire is a twenty-something, single mom that grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to startSynopsis:
Claire is a twenty-something, single mom that grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he's asleep) toddler a better life.
When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time.
With Carter's undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire's panic that her stretch marks and slim to none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.
Warning: contains explicit sex, profanity and enough sarcasm to choke a horse.
This book was fantastic. I loved every minute of it. From the start, I immediately loved Claire as a heroine. We have some similar thought processes. Still, it makes me realize that I really must like neurotic heroines because all of my most favorite contemporary romances that include loads of humor have some seriously neurotic heroines.
I loved that we also get Carter's POV in this. It was awesome to know what he was going through after that night. How in the world do two people end up in such a situation and turn it around to work for the better when there really was no reason for it all to work out so well? What fortunate people. After five years and making it work like that. It could have gone so differently. I was happy for them, though. I can't imagine it working out like that in real life, though.
Still, this was a fun read. Very funny with the over the top humor. And really sexy, too. Loved those sex scenes. They were incredibly hot.
I loooovvvveeed Gavin. Even though I feel the same way as Claire did in the beginning about kids, he was such a little treasure. What a funny boy. He'd probably drive me insane in reality. But since he's someone else's kid, I could enjoy his antics.
I'll certainly read book 2 to see just where things end up for Claire, Carter and Gavin....more

Wallbanger is the kind of book that you curl up on the couch or in bed with and settle in for some great laughs, crackling tension and amazing sexy times. I am now a total fan of Alice Clayton's and will be reading her Unidentified Redhead books.
From the start of the book, I knew I was going to be in for some laughs. Caroline has just moved into her brand new apartment and on her first night of sleep, she's awoken rather rudely by a thumping noise. A thumping noise coming from the other side of her bedroom wall. And that's not the only noise she hears. Lots of screaming, lots of moaning, lots of groaning and then... Spanking?! This gets Caroline determined to find out what kind of neighbor she had that can make a woman make all of that noise. She doesn't see him, though. The next night, it's the same thing. Only this time, a completely different woman and completely different noises (these ones which make her cat go insane as the new chick apparently meows when having sex). Again, Caroline attempts to catch a glimpse of this man and again, no luck. Night three... Another woman! And this one with even more different sounds. This one apparently likes to giggle and snort during sex. And once again, Caroline fails to get a glimpse of this man.
When she finally does, it's because she bangs on his door after another round from neighbor Simon and whatever chick he has over there causes her to lose more sleep. To Caroline's great shock, Simon is hotter than hot. And that isn't all...
From here, things just get funnier and steamier. I loved watching Caroline and Simon banter back and forth and try to set their friends up with each other correctly. They kept trying to ignore what was there between them, but when they finally gave in, I was rooting for them all the way. I had a blast reading this book. I love Simon. He was a great guy. Caroline was a hoot. But really, Caroline's cat Clive totally steals the show.
If you need a light book to read to lift your spirits or to relax with, this is definitely the one for you....more

When Grace Sheridan returns to Los Angeles to become a working actor, it's a second shot at a life-long dream. With some help from her best friend and agent, that dream could become a reality, but at thirty-three, has Grace missed her chance at the big time? Will an unexpected sizzling romance with the entertainment industry's newest 'it' boy shine an uncomfortable spotlight on her life? Alice Clayton spins a playful and erotic May to December romance in this, her debut novel. Clayton's funny, borderline neurotic heroine is perfect in her imperfections, and the off the charts sexual chemistry between her and her charming, yet blissfully unaware leading man are the true heart of The Unidentified Redhead. With laugh out loud dialogue and a super steamy romance that will get your heart racing, sneaking around in L.A. and dodging the Paparazzi has never been so fun.
A fun, sexy light read. I pretty much knew what to expect going in because I've read Alice Clayton's and loved her writing style. So when I found out that she had two older books out there were part of a series, I knew that I was going to read them. I'm glad that I did.
While the humor in this one felt a little forced at times, I loved it through most of the book. Ms. Clayton sure knows how to write a neurotic character that I can't help but adore. Grace was fun and smart. She's determined to make a better go at living her dream this time around and things are starting to look up for her. I felt happy for her when she got the part she wanted.
But I really felt happy for her the first time Jack kissed her. And the first time he touched her. And the first time he went down on her. And finally, the first time they went all the way. I loved all of their interactions. They had FUN and didn't take themselves too seriously. Grace had her moments of insecurity and even Jack did when an old flame of Grace's popped back up, but for the most part, these two are pretty solid. They'll be tested now that they're on opposite coasts, but I'm rooting for them.
I truly loved the book. Alice Clayton can write the hell out of a sex scene! Whew! *fans self* I sure wouldn't mind having a Jack Hamilton of my own. Especially not if he had skills like THAT.
My only complaint here was that there wasn't much in the way of conflict. Until near the end where Grace nearly pushes Jack away. I was glad she came to her senses. The two of them sizzle together. They're good for each other. Jack seems young to be so in love, but he's got a good head on his shoulders. He complements Grace really well and vice versa.

Mace Llewellyn. Brendon Shaw. Two tall, gorgeous, sexy alpha heroes who are 100% male―with a little something extra. Lion-shifters, to be exact, who can unleash every woman's animal side and still look good―make that spectacular―in a suit... and even better out of it...
NYPD cop Desiree "Dez" MacDermot knows she's changed a lot since she palled around with her childhood buddy, Mace. But it's fair to say that Mace has changed even more. It isn't just those too-sexy gold eyes, or the six-four, built-like-a-Navy Seal body. It's something in the way he sniffs her neck and purrs, making her entire body tingle...
Meanwhile, for Tennessean Ronnie Lee Reed, New York City is the place where any girl―even one who runs with a Pack―can redefine herself. First order of business: find a mate, settle down, and stop using men for sex. Even big, gorgeous, lion shifter men like Brendon Shaw. But she needn't worry, because now that Brendon's set his sights on her, the predator in him is ready to pounce and never let go...
I really enjoyed this, which was a surprise for me. Shifter series don't tend to be my favorites, but I have a few that I follow and really like and I think that this just might be another one. I love the Alphaness of the males. They are constantly giving out orders and it can be fun watching the females figure out how to deal with being in a relationship with one.
That was definitely no exception here, especially with both heroes being lion shifters. Boy did Mace and Brendan love giving orders. And Dez and Ronnie love following them. At least in the bedroom they did. The women aren't pushovers, they can take care of themselves, but it was nice seeing them get won over by the males bit by bit. Although, it really was frustrating they kept trying so damned hard to resist. I wanted to smack both of them upside their heads on more than one occasion. Both Dez and Ronnie have their reasons for not wanting to get involved seriously with someone, but damn, the commitment phobia started to get a little old after a while.
All in all, this was a nice, humorous light read. Even the serious parts don't stay serious for very long. The characters are likable, funny and the banter is excellent. The sex scenes are pretty damn good, too....more

Choko Kuze is the sensible daughter of a venerable family who went bankrupt. She joins a real estate company as an entry-level office worker, but her eccentric boss is harder on her than anyone else in the company! After hearing him inadvertently call her "milady," she realizes he was the young servant boy she knew as a child. At work he's a tyrant, but after hours he insists on treating her like a lady of the nobility. Is romance even possible for a couple locked in such a crazy role reversal?
This manga is a bit sillier than I was expecting, but I enjoy it. There isn't too much drama and it's fun to read.
The volume starts with Choko on a job interview and she's being asked if she's a virgin. What kind of interview is this?! She ends up getting the job even though after being asked that questions, she really doesn't want it anymore. She ends up wanting it even less when the interviewer becomes her boss and she's assigned to a department despite not having gone through training, yet. She has no idea why, but it isn't long before she discovers her new evil boss was once her servant, Masayuki Domoto. It's been 13 years since they've seen each other and I don't think this is the kind of man she was expecting when they met again. Poor Choko.
Masayuki seems to delight in tormenting Choko at work, but once she knows who he is, he starts calling her milady all the time and basically taking care of her outside of work. Choko doesn't like because she's pretty sure Masayuki still sees her as a child. Not only that, but the other women in the office can't stand her because of the special treatment she gets. Choko ends up falling in love with Masayuki, anyway, though. He's overbearing and obnoxious, but not always. He's definitely got a strong sense of duty, but I have no idea how he really feels about Choko or if he's even feeling anything towards her at all. She's got a hell of a road ahead of her. She can order him not to be with anyone else and he'll do it. She can ask him to kiss her and he'll do it, but she doesn't want him just doing things because she's his "milady."
She tries to make him see her as an adult by being as aristocratic as she can and it seems to be working. He both likes and dislikes it when she acts like that. Instead of Cha-chan, now she calls him Masayuki and orders him around. It's like he's torn between being happy she's grown up and not liking it at the same time. I wish Choko good luck because dealing with that fool of a man isn't going to be easy....more

A hilarious office romance! Choko Kuze is in love with her ex-servant-now-tyrannical-boss Masayuki Domoto. She's had a hard time getting him to see her as a woman, but between bouts of treating her like a genteel lady and an entry-level office grunt, he's slowly starting to come around. Unfortunately, the CEO's niece has set her sights on Masayuki and won't take no for an answer. Will Choko step aside to protect Masayuki's career, or is it now time for her to pull rank?
Our hero and heroine continue to be quite silly in this volume, but they have some serious moments and sexy moments as well. Ever since Choko ordered Masayuki to be with no woman but her, he's declined every offer he gets from every woman that comes on to him. He soon ends up with an offer that isn't easy to refuse, though he manages to do it. He's actually asked by the president of their company to marry his niece because for whatever reason, the woman wants to marry Masayuki. Choko is sooooo not down with that. She's worried Masayuki will choose the other woman over her. Turns out, Masayuki is actually in love with Choko, though and the two end up becoming a couple.
Even as a couple these two are wacky. When it comes to sex, Choko gets so overwhelmed, she passes out, so it looks like our heroine will be a virgin for a bit longer. I like watching these two, though. Masayuki is so weird sometimes, but I love him anyway and I'm totally rooting for Choko....more

She's had a hard time getting him to see her as a woman, but between bouts of treating her like a genteel lady and an entry-level office grunt, he's slowly starting to come around. Now that they're dating, Choko and Masayuki go on their first overnight trip together. Will the two be able to add to their relationship a new role--that of lovers?
This volume starts out with Choko meeting another blast from her past. Benten Estates has used some actors from a talent agency in one of their commercials and the president of that talent agency just happens to be Reibun Jungei another child of former servants of the Kuze family. Masayuki does not like having this guy around at all. They fight over Choko a bit, but Choko will always choose Masayuki over any other man. She loves him too much. Even if he is weird. And Masayuki is seriously weird. The things that come out of that man's mouth sometimes...
When Choko and Masayuki take an overnight trip alone, they're shocked to find Reibun, Suou, Makie and Mikihiko there. Poor, dumb, Mikihiko. Choko's baby brother finally has his eyes opened with regards to Suou. I think he's decided to remain deluded about that, though. Masayuki isn't happy everyone showed up like that, but things end up going well for them after all. It turns Masayuki into even more of a sex hound though and it drives Choko nuts. So when Makie asks her for a favor to go on a group date with her, Choko accepts. She meets a scary man while she's there, though... I was shocked to find out who he was! Masayuki better watch his back! He does love Choko, though. He keeps proving that. She even if he is a pervert, I can always forgive him, same as Choko....more

The only person who stands between Yuniko and Nanae's coveted Academy Award statue is Ryu Eba, and up-and-coming actor who's known as the "New Nanae." He's on to Yuniko's schemes and takes great pleasure in placing roadblocks in her way. When Yuniko's with Ryu, tempers flare and sparks fly—but before long, her anger turns into what might be attraction. Suprise!
But the real suprise comes with Ryu reunites Yuniko with her long-lost mother. This family reunion is nothing like anyone ever expected...
I originally read this years ago, but I got an itch to reread it, so this is my second time reading this series.
I really like Rie Takada's shoujo manga series. Her heroines tend to be fiesty and fun and her heroes are gorgeous and awesome. I'd forgotten that this series was about actors and the weird way Yuni meets Ryu. She's pretty daring. Ryu for his part is a little strange to react the way that he did when she robs him. I guess he just saw a cute girl and wanted an excuse to see her again.
When we meet Yuni, she's already plotting how to steal her next piece of Akira Nanae memorabilia and she even manages to almost pull it off. If only that window wasn't on the third floor... From there, Yuni and Ryu end up playing cat and mouse with each other. They both end up crushing on the other, but get warned away from getting involved with each other by Yuni's guardian Sanae. This being a shoujo manga (and the fact I've read this before), I already know that warning won't do much good.
As things currently stand, Yuni has gone to visit her mother at the hospital and gets very shocked by what she finds there. She knew her mother was sick and she hasn't seen her in years, but I don't think Yuni was prepared for this at all. At least Ryu is there with her. She's going to need the moral support....more

Yuniko discovers that her mother has amnesia and doesn't remember her! Yuniko is devastated, but she find surprising comfort in Ryu's company as their relationship starts to change.
When the school year starts, all Yuniko wants to do is stay out of the spotlight and in the shadows so she can continue collecting Akira's things. But this is when her real trouble begins, for an unscrupulous photographer plans to frame Ryu in a big scandal and only she can steal back the evidence to save him!
Volume 2 picks right up where volume 1 left off. Yuni has seen her mother for the first time in 15 years only to discover that her mother has no idea who she is. Yuni is understandably devastated, but Ryu manages to cheer her up.
After they spend the night together (nothing happens!), when they get back to Yuni's place, Sanae confronts them about spending time together again. He's very harsh about it, too and Ryu begins to keep his distance which pisses Yuni off, so she confronts him about it. He lets her know how he feels about them being apart by kissing her, which confuses her. It takes a while, but she eventually figures out that he still wants to be with her. He even helps her when she gets in a tight spot while trying to steal a reel of Akira's test videos for a movie as well as evidence that a shady paparazzi is trying to sell of Ryu and some girl. Only to find out that the girl in the photos is her!
Later, Ryu has a talk with Sanae about how he feels about Yuni and he and Yuni reunite as a couple. They're both so stubborn!
Before you know it, another crisis pops up when a schoolmate of Yuni and Ryu's sends her a note saying he knows the truth of her parentage. Yuni can't take it and passes out, but when Maki suggests she goes up to the school roof to find out the truth, she realizes it's all true! What will Yuni do now?...more
