It has been a while since I dipped my toe into the world of BDSM and I haven't yet had the pleasure of doing anything really serious, but reading this made me want to get out there and try again. Reading this also told me that Cherise Sinclair knows what the fuck she's talking about. As she said in her author's note, since this is a book, the romance was compressed and happened quickly, but she warns that in reality, you need to have safeguards in place. Just her author's note alone let me know that I was in for a treat. This was no slap and tickle BDSM. This is the real deal and written in a way that, even though this is fiction and you're loving the story, reminds you that BDSM is not to be taken lightly.
I love that Logan stresses honesty and openness. That he makes Rebecca talk about her reactions to what he does to her. That he is able to get her to see that giving her control up to someone else does not mean something is wrong with her or something she should be ashamed of. And in doing so, it reinforces to the reader the safest ways to indulge in BDSM. I have to say that Rebecca's initiation into the lifestyle was done so very, very well. She was shown that she is desirable despite believing completely that she wasn't. That she was frigid. I still can't believe Matt said that to people.
I actually liked that Sinclair has this happened with an invite to join her boyfriend's swingers group. Hated that chick Ashley, though. She was a bad swinger. She was out to make Rebecca feel bad about herself. Bitch.
I was glad that Rebecca and Logan were able to work out their issues in the end. He realized he had to be open with her if she was to be open with him. He had to take that step so that they could be together and he did it wonderfully. I fully believe that BDSM can help you with certain issues whether they are mental, emotional, psychological or physical. IF IT IS DONE RIGHT. In this book, it was done right.
Looking forward to Sinclair's 2 hour Q&A with the Gotta Have Paranormal Romance With a Kick group on 8/17.(less)

Jessica sure gets more than she bargained for when her car ends up in a ditch and she seeks refuge in a nearby house. This house turns out to be a private club and lucky her, it's bondage night!
Right from the start, Jessica gets to experience a Dom in action. And what a great Dom he is. While Jessica's real first experience with BDSM isn't something that would happen in RL, I felt that for the story, it works. It walks the edge, but doesn't cross the line, at least not in my opinion. I did find it interesting that Master Z has some ability that allows him to be able to read emotions. He is already very attentive (excellent Dom quality), but that just helped him initiate Jessica into the scene in a pretty appropriate way. I really enjoyed getting to know these two.
I think my favorite part in this book was that medical scene. Jessica performed beautifully despite being so afraid.
I always liked the way that they wormed their way under each others' skin.
Love, love, love this book. Who'd ever think that picking a lock could lead to such love and healing.

Alex is now my most favorite Dom ever and I sorely wish I could find one as awesome and attentive and caring as he is.
I absolutely love the way he worked with Mac to build her trust. I love that he accepted her and that he was so willing to help her despite the arrangement being one that initiated out of convenience.
And I have to say, the way he worked with her on her issues about being touched, sex and spanking were so damned wonderful. It was impossible for me not to just love this man.
All of the scenes and the sex was hot, but what stood out for me was that partial sensory deprivation scene. That was smoking and I envy Mac's experience of that.
I enjoyed Mac as the heroine. She was damaged, but not broken. She resisted some of what Alex did to her, but she opened up well. She learned that her past didn't have to define her and that there are people that will love you despite past mistakes. Especially mistakes made at such a young age. Especially when she was practically forced into doing what she had done. She was a victim and should never be judged for that. Basically, Mac was awesome, too.
This book will definitely be read again by me.(less)
