One of the reasons I love her books is because not only she remind her readers on what happened in her previous books but also she build out more out of her previous characters rather than just end their stories there. Speaking of characters, Jasmine is definitely my favorite! It was interesting reading her battles between her two identities. It wasn't even confusing and it might have been even a little... relate-able.
The book was done perfectly. The scenes wasn't done overly. Newbury dived in her characters and exploited their personalities. While I love the identities of Emma and Jasmine, it gets a little repetitive on some parts when Jasmine is figuring out who she's playing at the moment.
The part where all the characters come together was just so heartfelt too. It felt like it was kind of deliberately done that way because it's the ending of the trilogy but it didn't felt cheesy or anything. It was just... perfectly done. And I can definitely say the scene in the courtroom is my favorite out of the book.
Acting Brave was full of feels without being angsty. It has the perfect touch of keeping me at the edge of my seat too. Any NA lover should try this book out. It'll be worth your time. Trust me ;)...more

Firstly, the blurb is misleading. VERY misleading. Thank goodness for me, I like to go in a book blind. I read the blurb before I accepted the review but I usually forgot about it as soon as I stopped reading it. So yeah, I did get into this book blind. But seriously. Misleading summary.
Secondly, the whole book felt like reading an essay. Or a book about archaeology. There was no emotion inserted at all. I feel nothing while reading. The emotions felt chaste. Like, cut to the point. Like, I wanna feel sad at the sad part. I wanna fangirl at Zax or Joel. There was none of that.
The characters was fine. The author did a really great job on the evil mother. The plot was great actually. Bad mother figure but the daughter couldn't let her go because she's still her mom. And I read everything in one seating(partly because it's a short read and partly because I had a review due by that day too).
But the author didn't do a great job in delivering the story....more

I have got to be honest. This is my first time listening to an audiobook and*I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest and unbiased review*
I have got to be honest. This is my first time listening to an audiobook and I gotta say… IT IS FREAKING AMAZING. OMG. Like, do you even know how many works I can get done while listening to an audiobook? A LOT. This is like, definitely one of my favorite choices to read a book without feeling like I’m wasting time. Freaking amazing. I dismissed the choice of listening to an audiobook before because I thought I couldn’t listen and pay attention to the words at the same time. Kinda like absentmindedly listening to a song. WRONG. I can definitely listen and pay attention and even better, MULTITASK.
I’ll list out what I don’t like about the book first: a) The cover. Now, before you go all ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ on me, let me just say that everyone judges a book by its cover. You pick up a book because it has a pretty cover. b) The age difference between the Adam and Bethany turned me off. They have an almost 2 decades of age difference. c) I find the story a little too predictable for me. And I felt like I’ve read/seen this kind of story before.
Pros: a) Mark Torres did really great in narrating. The way he says some of the lines even cracked me up a little bit. b) I listened to the book in one sitting. It was good and a short listen. c) The side characters are pretty cool. Especially Cassandra.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I like the book. It was enjoyable. It was a good listen but it wasn’t a great listen. And I feel that it lacks emotion. When I read/listen, I get this ache in my chest at the sad scenes and I grin from ear-to-ear and jump up and down at the scenes that make me fangirl. And this audiobook didn’t do that to me. This audiobook will be perfect for listeners with time to spare and is finding audiobooks that aren’t stressful to listen to. ...more

This book was the right book at the wrong time. I would've enjoyed it better if I weren't so into tv shows right now. And it's a constant struggle between reading or watching tv shows.
Nevertheless, it was still a good read. This second book is better than the 1st one. ...more
